Im doing the exact same thing here but my donor is a 96 xj 4x4 with manual, glad to see someone pulled off a similar project, even with a more difficult swap.

Just what I needed. Got a 87 short 4x4 5spd. 4.0. Just need to find a wrecked 98+. I really just want the newer look and dash. Drivetrain will stay.

Awesome videos and thanks for sharing. Have my own swap in schedule for the coming weeks and thought it was a plug and play operation! Going from 1990 2.5l to a 1997 ! Looking forward to more videos and hopefully you can answer questions !
    Thanks from Puerto Rico

Really pleased I found your channel
I’m in the uk. We never got the Comanche here just the Cherokee
There are a few Comanche about but they all seem to be rear wheel drive only.
If I was thinking of doing what you have done do you think converting to right hand drive at the same time would be too adventurous or even possible

thank you. anything is possible. you will need a good right hand drive parts vehicle and a welder. your biggest challenge will be making all the firewall holes in the correct place.

A heck of a lot of work ... So, you get an Official 'At-a-Boy' ... One question, seeing as I have an '88 Comanche, and always wanted to install the later grill, like yours... Was it pretty much, an R/R type conversion ? In other words, did all mounting holes, and electrical connections go pretty easy? And can I keep my fenders and hood ? Or are newer ones required for the updated look ?
Ideally for me, would be the front grill area with the header, plus the lower bumper and air deflector ...

the body line on the fenders between 88 and 98 are different. hood is the same. if you put a 98 front on a 88 the electrical connectors are different. thanks for watching

@@yesterdaysproject6106 OK, got it, thanks... Looks like in addition to the very front end, I would need 'newer' fenders as well, so the body lines match... And the swapped out connectors are not hard for me to do ... Thanks 🤠 Yee-haw !

Last Comanche was built was in 1992 so you could not have switched to a 1998

That is correct 92 was last year. I took the drive-train and electronics from a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ and installed them in a Comanche.
