EV Mechanics Shortage Give Rise To The Throw Away Industry

  • The automotive industry faces a crisis with the recent surge in early-model EV battery failures. Shortage of qualified EV mechanics leads to prolonged repair times and high replacement costs, intensifying financial burdens for EV owners. Additionally, the environmental impact looms large, as dead EVs risk polluting junkyards and depleting resources without proper disposal or recycling methods. Urgent investment in battery recycling infrastructure and EV mechanic training is crucial to mitigate these challenges and prevent further economic and environmental damage.

    If you do not have a green energy power plant, it means nothing since you just shift the pollution to the area of the power plant.

      Bunch of absurd lies. 4-5 year Old BEVs are some of the best deals in the 2nd hand market. They work great with very little deterioration.

    EV's are the Bic lighter of cars.

      Nope just like the derided prius. They will keep on being a workhorse way beyond what people expected. Bic Lighters of cars is Turbo 4 Banger or Atkinson Cycle with High Compression engine.

    You have a newer EV and the battery fails that is a big unwelcome expense that may be worth paying. However, once the car is over 12 years old do you really want to spend 20K to replace a battery on a car that is likely wholesaling for less than 10K?

    • @leafnutz2341
      @leafnutz2341 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      so either have the pack rebuilt or buy a used pack. If you have an old ICE car and the engine fails, are you gonna buy a brand new engine or a used engine?

    • @pbreedu
      @pbreedu 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@leafnutz2341If the engine or transmission fails, I will scrap the vehicle and replace it with another used car. The most expensive thing I would consider fixing on a basic 12-year-old car used for day-to-day transportation is the suspension. However, spending money to repair the suspension on an older car would be a tough call.
      Only if you are talking about a classic collectible car is it worth rebuilding major components like the engine or transmission, and you need to get a very good mechanic to do it.

      With that philosophy in mind, how are EVs any different?

    • @pbreedu
      @pbreedu 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@leafnutz2341 It is all about money. What makes to most sense financially. I live in a place where it gets really cold so I can't see an EV car lasting as long as a gasoline car due to the impact of cold on battery life. AVIS which knows more about both cars and accounting than I do couldn't make EV work financially. If a company that is in the car business can't make EVs work what chance does an average car buyer myself have with one.

    • @leafnutz2341
      @leafnutz2341 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pbreedu cold weather effects can be minimized with simple steps such as buying an EV with a heat pump, heating the cabin while the car is charging, charging inside your garage. There are plenty of EV owners in cold climates that make them work just fine. As far as them “lasting as long”. Cold weather doesn’t decrease the number of charge cycles directly.

    BEV is underdeveloped tech and these manufacturer sold to us just to rake profit without any after sales service, so if your bateries pack is bust you must buy brand new one not only the bateries.
    Keep your ICE as long as you can until BEV industries can presenting fully developed BEV technology that won't give us range anxiety, blown or burned while park and batery pack 20 years waranty or much more

    3:00 Blatant LIES! They do not just end up stuck in junk yards. The parts are quickly scavenged removed or worst STOLEN! Valuable parts getting quickly sold on the used parts market for many purposes more than just fixing other cars. EV power train parts are very valuable they do not just get abandoned.

    lol that guy was working on Tesla roadsters that are now 15 years old. that video was from over 10 years ago lol!!!!
    These batteries are not thrown away. their value is far far greater then the value of a catalytic convertor. Used EV batteries are getting repaired, recycled or reused in battery storage facilities.
    Most Telsa model S's are going over 500,000 miles the amount thrown away is minuscule
    well to wheel EV's have been proved to be massively greener then conventional ice vehicles. even after 1 year of diving them.
    i suggest you watch this video that has actual fleet managers with hundreds of thousands of EV's and actual scientist that know the facts- th-cam.com/video/LeHakmL6eEc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4sa6zFheCNcGfUSD

      My 17MS is going strong after 90k miles with less than 1% degradation per year. At this rate, I might just take it to 500k miles.

    here is what is really happening with used EV's- th-cam.com/video/oDuEr-cPl38/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lmQG365CZivj4Qxz
    as a Red Seal Parts person I'm not scared of a full EV future. There will still be items to sell, suspension, eventually brakes, broken pieces from damage. There will be much less that's for sure but shouting fire when there is no fire is pointless. time to embrace what is happening or be left in the past
