It's trails like this that have put me off the Whaka and Volcanic Epic. I don't see them as XC. Maybe XC is changing to be more Enduro like, but I'm not. Gravel races from here on out.
Yes it is a tough XC trail for sure. The Whaka has a few of them bit races like the VE and Highlander have reasonably easy trails on comparison. Gravel is fun too… although there not as many races as yet.
There were a couple of trails in the VE on day one and two I didn't think should have been in an "XC" race. However given that the Whaka, VE and Highlander sell out others must be happy with the trails.
