This just shows you how unbelievably gifted and talented Amy was. She had her entire life ahead of her and it’s so sad she didn’t even live to see her 30th birthday.
Amy was a fine documentary and all, but The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence are two of the most significant and important pieces of modern filmmaking and it's an enormous shame that both of them lost the Doc Oscar to documentaries about musicians. Again, no disrespect to Amy (or 50 Feet from Stardom, which I haven't seen), but Oppenheimer's films are life-changing watches - they need to be seen.
dude he made a movie with no script, no connections to family members or anything like the guy made a movie out of purely nothing. He had to establish relationships and gain people's trust by himself which is incredibly hard to do and he nailed the movie
Amazing and well deserved win, but ashamed the academy should been of not nominating Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. A masterpiece of documentary¡¡¡
To them, the story of a typical coke head, dope fiend musician who wound up dying before age 30 because of bad life choices is more important, I guess.
1:19 - why are there only TWO people are clapping (Jennifer Jason Leigh and Matt Damon)? And even then Matt awkwardly stops after the winners pass him.
Damn I might have to watch all of these documentaries that were nominated cuz they all look super good. I might have to start with Nina Simone. Winter on fire seems like an insanely depressing story
I honestly don't get the Academy, How did Asif Kapadia win for this and not "Senna"? I mean Amy was great... But I hail Senna as the greatest Biographical Documentary ever made.
I loved the Amy doc, I thought Amy Winehouse was a fantastic singer/songwriter and the doc explored her life superbly. However, IMO...What Happened Miss Simone should have won. Of the two, it presented Miss Simone’s anguish at the hands of racism, domestic violence and the downward spiral of her brilliant career in a way that moves me to this day. At any rate, kudos to the winners here...at least she didn’t lose out to some bullshit.
After watching both Amy and Winter on Fire, i had my preference for the latter. I was impressed when this documentary didn't get this award, because this is a contemporary and international issue that needed to be addressed and taken into account worldwide, since it deals with themes like corruption and freedom, and this is still happening. Not saying that Amy wasn't good, because it was; it dealt with psychological problems and drugs that are very personal. But anyway, that's my opinion.
It should have been Winter On Fire Ukraine's Fight For Freedom He Named Me Malala Monkey Kingdom What Happened Miss Simone Song of Lahore Where To Invade Next The Hunting Ground Racing Extinction Havana Motor Club Winner:Winter On Fire Ukraine's Fight For Freedom
I think if someone ever told Amy Winehouse that the story of her life would win an Oscar/Academy Award she'd never have believed you.
Over a cinebiography of Nina Simone
@@mrpetersantospetersantosbo6192 The real winner was The Look of Silence.
Amy 😭👑
“I want the public to know, I’m not a superstar.. just a girl who sings” she just wanted to be “normal” ❤️
This just shows you how unbelievably gifted and talented Amy was. She had her entire life ahead of her and it’s so sad she didn’t even live to see her 30th birthday.

I cried that day when I heard "Amy".
This is payback for snubbing _Senna_ from 2011.
Senna was worthy of an Oscar indeed

I agree The Act of Killing should had won the Oscar. But Asif deserved the Oscar for Amy, since he was massively snubbed for Senna.

+Oscar Acosta Rodriguez probably half of the people in the academy are scientologists

Michele Schettino well they probably clapped already, it was a pretty lengthy walk and by the time the camera paneled on them they were done
Michele Schettino The woman who looks like David Bowie is clapping at 1:04.
That's Sandy Powell.
Maybe they love Amy Winehouse
OMG IS THAT DEV PATEL FROM SKINS
Jamal Malik of Slumdog Millionaire in the flesh
Listen to me Marlon is a great documentary of that year
Эми!люблю!❤️💓♥️💎🌹🖤спасибо за прекрасный фильм!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Look at all those arrogant actors in the front section not even applauding the winner.
I would have had The Look of Silence win this, but Amy was pretty great as well
Damn I might have to watch all of these documentaries that were nominated cuz they all look super good. I might have to start with Nina Simone. Winter on fire seems like an insanely depressing story
met this guy today
"The Look of Silence" aka "Senyap"
Is this really that guy from "Slumdog Millionaire" o.O
I know the time ages u but this geeza has aged a lot :O :P
snackers401 Afro??? Lmao * white people
"Winter on Fire" should've won... JMO.
We never had a non English Documentary feature film win the Oscar, only for the short film is the one that won the Oscar
What a claps, huh?
Good grief. They got two of the voice artists from the English Language dub of Only Yesterday to present a category. How ironic!
How so?
Batkid Begins should have been nominated
I honestly don't get the Academy, How did Asif Kapadia win for this and not "Senna"? I mean Amy was great... But I hail Senna as the greatest Biographical Documentary ever made.
Will Back To Black win any Oscars?

I have yet to see both but I do agree with you.
you should see The Look of Silence, like its predecessor, it's more thrilling
That's exactly why Amy was great lmfao
Hey, is the chick from the new Star Wars movie.
+Radames Figueroa Boria That's AWESOME!!
Yes
Too bad Winter On Fire lost
1:18
Huh. Taeko & Toshio.
You should always be a gentleman and let the lady open the envelope. Isn't he British? Little manners like these help you assert your Englishness.
Rey? More like Bae

All I see is Taeko.
It should have been
