OUR STORY SO FAR:
We are Cory & Kristen Williams and in August 2014 we made the long drive from Southern California to Alaska to move into our new home in Eagle River. Here we’ve had the chance to explore Alaska, experience lots of wild events, meet lots of great people and endure the extreme temperatures that the north is known for. On December 20th, 2014 we got engaged after our Polar Plunge under the Northern Lights then later married by our favorite lake on May 23rd, 2015. Then on June 23rd, 2016 we had our first child. A baby girl named Chell.

WHAT DOES "DudeLikeHELLA" MEAN?:
"Dude" is me, Cory. I am the dude. "Like" is a joining word which is used to express similarities and "HELLA" is slang for "a lot" or in my case, "the greatest amount". So together, "DudeLikeHELLA" means "The best me I can be".

It's true; most cats like infants/toddlers and "take possession" of them - I think because they are smaller, less intimidating versions of their humans. I know they associate them as "family" right away; they see them as new kittens (which they are, really). Of course, a lot of cats also seem to think of us grown-ups as rather stupid kittens too, so maybe that's not a surprise. :-)

There's no greater feeling that watching your child grow up (father of 11 month girl) and I'm so grateful that we get to experience Chell grow up right with you.
We got to go to the DOG PARK hurray!!!! Such a beautiful place, and Penny is so lovely. Cory, your interpretation of Penny's thoughts was hysterical. Kristen, I loved your interpretation of Chell's dream. You really do know what she's thinking! She got so excited when you talked to her like that. And you ended with a starry night and northern lights...delightful! Thank you!

Beavers eat the leaves, inner bark, and twigs of aspen (a favorite food), alder, birch, cottonwood, willow, and other deciduous trees. Beavers also eat shrubs, ferns, aquatic plants, grasses, and crops, including corn and beans.
The Northern Lights are so cool! You are very fortunate that you live in a place where you can see them!

Chell is getting so big... She is a beautiful baby! She looked so peaceful sleeping outside, and your cats were protecting her while she was... Kristen, your dream interpretation was adorable. I loved the dog park walk too, and the northern lights were amazing!
I put a kiddy show on for the little ones that they beg to watch with me... I start out with kids nestled around me, and then somehow I end up sitting on the couch alone watching a kiddy show... And the kids aren't even in the same room with me anymore!

Living in the highlands of Scotland names like Angus, Hamish and even haggis are common names for pets! If you haven't visited before I'd highly recommend it, it's very similar to Alaska and very beautiful!
Penny trembling with excitement was adorable! Almost close to stealing Chell's cuteness crown there. Over here in the South West of the UK, common dog names include Max, Ben, Molly, Poppy and Gizmo. My friend's dog likes to chase other dogs running for a ball but it's usually so he can steal their ball! Much to the embarrassment of his owners.

1:25 I love how your cats stood guard over Chell. I'm more of a cat person than a dog person, but my last two dogs were named Sheela and Crystal and my cat is named Fizgig. Its a reference to the little ball of fur with teeth in "The Dark Crystal" and she lives up to it perfectly. Thanks for the shots of the Aurora Borealis. Absolutely beautiful!

The first (and only) time I saw the Northern Lights I was a child, and I had never heard of them before. I was torn between feeling awe at the beauty and the fear that the world was ending.
Now, getting the chance to see them again is on my bucket list.

Hey that's my building!! My office is in there. We have a reflection room that over looks your log ☺️ I go around the lake a couple times a week, but I visit that log almost every time bc it's a cool spot to stop and think 😊 I hope I catch you guys on the trail sometime!!

it looks so beautiful there, you can still wear sunglasses in the winters, sometimes the sun is very bright, I wear the them all year round..
In their part of Alaska they only get a few hours of "light" a day. Check out some of their winter videos and you'll see, there is very little need for sunglasses there!

I was out with the camp ranger and his wife last night too looking at the lights. The ones we saw were fainter than the ones in the video, but it was pretty cool to experience them first hand.

Once upon a time, my older brother, at a very VERY young age, was left on a large pillow to sleep the night while we stayed at grandma's house after moving back east (Dad had just transfered from active duty Navy to Naval Reserve, and Mom wanted to live closer to her family)
Well, big brow apparently decided he wanted to go see Mama, because they found him a few hours later, half way to the room Mom was sleeping, navigating by the ceiling tiles and moving with a bump of his belly and a wiggle of his legs and with a very determined look on his tiny face, it was one of the most amazing things Mom ever saw.

I love walking on trees across rivers or creeks too. I used to build dams in a creek down my road when I was younger. Would spend days doing it and then we would find the biggest downed tree and use that as a bridge.

I've never seen the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis, except online in photos and videos. I'm in Arizona. There's good views of the stars outside of the city though, if you're far enough away! I'm amazed you accidentally assumed everyone gets to see them! Utah, CA, Colo, Tx, NM, Arkansas, Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, the rest of the world? You thought we could see them? Enjoy the beauty!
