The dangers of coming in from a long break unseeded and then meet fired up players like Gacia in the first round . The reason why these reporters keep asking about Gacia serve is because Naomi sucks in returning she always has been ,she made up for it by being a great server herself then capitalise on her opponent playing one loose service game for her to win a set. I am a big fan of Osaka ,if she stays positive she will only get better as this season progresses .She really needs to add variety to her game so she can add clay and grass to her resume as well .All the best Naomi.

She seems like a nice person. I’d rather be stranded on a desert island with her over any of the other players.

She lost in the first round in straight sets. Come on people, I'm going to need more than that to even think she'll stay on the tour all year.

My goodness, I love Naomi. I love her peaceful and calm demeanor. I want to see her back on tour winning tournaments.
For me, unfortunately she played against Garcia, whom I also love, so I couldn't fully cheer for either one.

Garcia is a good server, she simply outserved Osaka but her return game is a bit more of hit and miss. She is one of the worst returner in the game. Osaka did not do well with the second serve.

Though being born at an American military base in Japan, she 's lived in USA nearly her whole life and doesn't speak Japanese. She probably decided to play for Japan because she'd get more endorsement contracts in the Asian market for being an "Asian" tennis player.

She has said before that she understands perfectly as her mother spoke to her in Japanese but she struggles to speak it. I have a friend whose daughter is the same. Mother speaks Portuguese, child answers in English 🤷🏻‍♂️
