That's because a lot of people who attend these tennis tournaments are not true tennis fans but is just a day trip for them with something to do or they are there via hospitality free tickets etc..

I had a picture with the Russian team before they head over to Tokyo for the Olympics. I was surprised how a big guy Rublev is. Hes arm is easily size of my legs and I'm 6ft tall. I think hes big hair put everything under proportion 😂

As someone who is a hardcore tennis fan and just spent 4 days at the tournament, the fact that these players were not recognized is not surprising. The amount of people who had no idea what was going on or knew anything about tennis was astounding.
Same with Wimbledon, a lot of people have no idea who the players are in front of them when they are sat in their seats when the players are warming up.
