Saw an little article about norm that featured his niece and she explicitly said that norm was in a lot of pain for this but pushed through. I love the man and he’s given us so much without us being able to thank him and show our love.
You can see how flattered Jerry is at the moment when Norm remembers and laughs at one one Jerry's early stand-up jokes. You know, with the last few years of his life Norm really went around appreciating those he felt worthy of his appreciation what with things like his Chappelle photo, his Letterman appearance and stuff like this. He may have been an old chunk of coal but he had the heart of a diamond.

Fueled By Plants have you ever seen Screwed? It's starring Norm Macdonald Dave Chapelle and Danny Devito. Came out like 2000. It did absolutely horrible with critics and at the box office but I remember thinking it was hilarious when I was like 13. I'd love to watch it again if I ever find it. It was kind of a sandler-esque 90s movie, doesn't necessarily capture norm and daves brilliance, but check it out.

wow. The way he delivers the line, "The wind!" His timing is impeccable! That's what drove Seinfeld to laughter - it was the punchline, "The Wind," but ONLY because of the way Norm hammered him with it: angle, velocity, impact force, etc. That is some O.G. comedic timing right there.
The timing was perfect, a master class in comedic timing, but let's give some credit to the set up, that is to hear the topic of conversation, then to deliver the set up, and then the punch line, it is the whole package that is impressive.
I never appreciated him as much when he was alive as I have in the last week listening to so many of his bits on TH-cam. I have been laughing nonstop. He was a true genius, way smarter and more introspective than I gave him credit for. I guess maybe I was one of those who was jaded by his sometimes overdone and over-the-top Weekend Update segments. So sorry that I feel for two decades I missed out on his brilliant comedy. He was truly a comic virtuoso and one of the greatest of all time. RIP.
Same here. Some artists aren't immediately captivating and require more attention. Can't just give them 30 seconds of half-attention and then get bored, you have to really give them your full focus. Now that I'm doing that with Norm, I see what I missed. Luckily it's all still here.

It comes in every key and every time signature imaginable. Elvis was a great musician but Bach on the organ made other musicians cry in shame that they could never be that good.
Netflix has to pick Norm up and let him do and say whatever he wants, like he used to do in his Norm MacMacdonald Show, without the dumb and restrictive limitations that HBO put on him and his comedy style.
When has he recently worked with HBO? All I could find was a half-hour special from 1991. His 2018 series "Norm Macdonald has a show", which couldn't be more leashed, was on Netflix and was not renewed for a second season.
