I once saw norm do a set with a cig in his hand the whole set, Adam Sandler tour, would pretend to go light it but never did. Finally at the end a guy in the audience yells “you gonna light it or what” and Norm, without missing a beat goes “the fuck you talking about I don’t smoke.” 😂, RIP Norm. We all will miss you ❤️
@@EMpowered06 I get what you’re saying but it’s up to the audience to discern joke from reality. He was extremely hard on himself in routines and the women he speaks of are fairy tale
He had writers and used them over and over. Don't get me wrong, the man was essential and so many comics were inspired by him. Comedy has moved on though and it's for the better.
Man, I really wish Norm would have done a lot more of these episodes. I have watched them all so many times. He truly gave me the only break from all of the madness over the past couple of years.
Surely you watched the ones from the podcast days too right? I'm sure you have but if not you're in for a treat, those are the funniest things I've ever seen
That last show looked amazing,. The greatest ever. Calm Rodney is just as funny as ever. Looks like he’d maybe given up the coke by that time. Hey who am I kiddin, the coke gave up on him, ok? Alright.
Rodney Dangerfield placed himself in his jokes where no one could insult him; he willingly placed himself in the lowest level a man can go. But his jokes could hurt the highest levels, all the levels.
I went into NYC to Dangerfields club and I was sitting at the bar when I felt someone bump into me as he sat on the chair next to me. I partially spilled my drink. I turn around and the guy says, “Oops sorry”. The guy was wearing a bathrobe. It was Dangerfield. He bought me a drink. That’s my claim to fame.
Rodney Dangerfield is literally the grandfather of comedy and I gotta say I wish I was related to the guy anytime I have a bad day I always put on Rodney and he always puts a smile on my face
I tell ya ..dating today ain't easy ..it ain't easy I tell ya ... I was seeing this new lady and she said come on over there's nobody home ... so I went over...and there was nobody home.
You wouldn't like being Norms friend! He was a genius comic but very difficult human to deal with. Self destructivve, unreliable, very secretive guy. He never had a real friend actually. Just listen carefully to what Spade,Sandler, Swardson, Artie, Harland and the rest are saying. He never let anyone in. My theory is that ever since he found out about his disease he really didn't give a fuck about anything anymore actually, and that's why he was loved and considered brave. But it costed him dearly in private life...
@alientube1984 I mean, you make it sound like leading a secretive life is somewhat of a bad trait to have in being a good friend. Have you ever heard of "familiarity breeds contempt"? Perhaps by not letting people into his personal life more is why Norm was so beloved. He was incredibly smart to know that telling people about his disease would just make everyone around him treat him differently. He felt he was not one to be pitied, and you can tell he loved his friends dearly by how much they all said how sweet of a person he really was. To be fair, nobody ever truly knows somebody's entire life, so living a secretive life wouldn't make much difference. I think Dave Chappelle said it best: he was there when you needed him most, and to me, that's what I'd call a true friend.
Great great great. Actually my first time I hear Dangerfield cuz. I had only seen network clips. I think I got something new to search for other than norm. Thanks.
I woke up this morning and the bedroom door knob fell off, i went to brush my teeth and the faucet handle fell off, i tell ya i was afraid to go to the bathroom
There really is something amazing about a comedian genuinely laughing at another comedian’s material. Seinfeld reacting to Norm is always something to behold.
@@crackheadbiden7269 Listen to the beginning... Seinfeld: "Didn't you do research... before you had me on?" Norm: "About you?" Seinfeld: "Yeah." Norm: "My whole life I've been researching you." Seinfeld: *laughs Norm: "Don't you know everything about every comic?" Producer: "We're on in 3... 2... 1..." Seinfeld: *short on time, he can only respond with, "Yeah."
When you have a 13:46 video and you start your title, Seinfeld laughing on Norm Macdonald Live you should have at LEAST ten minutes of Jerry and Norm and fill in the rest with Rodney.
RIP to all these legends we have lossed that gave us all untold amounts of smiles and laughter. God Speed! RIP Norm, Rodney, Kinnison, Hicks, Carlin, Gilbert, Bob Saget, Ralphie May, Patrice…. And many many more. Thank you all for helping my sanity! RIP!!!!
"Don't you know every thing about every comic'?" I think Norm was like a library of comedy. He knew everything, so he wanted to freestyle with Jerry. Not many people can sit there and "beat" Seinfeld's status
When will Netflix release the rights to Norm Macdonald live? They bought them as part of the deal for his show. In a world with little to laugh at we need norm

Jay Leno told the great story one time where he said that Rodney would go to clubs and tell a lot of jokes and before he would get to the funny one so a lot of the times people would applaud and think "wow Rodney Dangerfield is here!" but then he do a whole set of new material and it would just suck because he was trying to work out what was funny and what was not,,, that's the only way you get a of course a whole set of good material that people laugh at down the road especially live tv at that time.
Those Rodney clips are GREAT - hadn't heard some of those - I need to dig for more of his standup I haven't ever heard. As time goes by, more and more appears on YT. Thanks for this. Still reeling from Norm's passing. - What Rodney set is the footage starting at @2:24 from?

Thanks friend, this one is superb

The editing of this video sucks. And the volume difference is shit. I had to stop watching.
Just normalizing the audio across clips would make a world of difference. Nicely done other than that.

So Norm didn't have a fallick obsession, like the therapist would have you believe

Wonder how many shows Norm did where nobody yelled that so he didn't get to do the bit
We gotta demand Netflix to release these

Netflix is dying anyway.

amazon would do the same.
It's us who need releasing;
Us who need to realise.
Netflix would censor them. The original episodes are available to download online
Dangerfield gave 1000 jokes a minute, all of them good. One of the best.
The only reason the band is there is to slow him down so the audience can breathe
Also misogynistic
The picture of birthday cake joke wasn’t really that funny. He was a funny guy but not all his jokes were good

Go to Spade's channel. He did a ton of ~5-minute monologues from his basement during Covid. A lot of it was very good.
“don’t you know everything about every comic?”
Hahaha man Norm was brilliant
I love Rodney’s clean Dad jokes: “In my house we pray AFTER we eat. She gave my kid alphabet soup, he spelled HELP.”
Honestly, his clean jokes were WAY funnier than his dirty jokes.
Yeah, the bad cooking string had me rolling

I had no idea Dangerfield could spit out punchlines like that, it's surreal. He's like the Secret Final Boss of spitfire jokes.
Watch his clips with Johnny Carson. GOLD!!

Especially because he always seemed so nervous. Having a quick fire memory like that while nervous is doubly impressive 👍
