      Exactly right. Steve Martin, Leslie Nielsen, and Bernie sanders are all examples of that as you all have pointed out. I have a theory about this..
      I think it’s natures way of making up for the fact that those guys looked much older than they were when they were younger. But nature is rewarding them for that by making them look better longer because their look never changes once they hit that part of their life.

      I'm like 2 minutes in and already can't stand the fake laughing... as far as I can see it, it's a normal conversation with blatantly forced laughing. How many times in the first few minutes alone is there gonna be a cut to silence with him just randomly grabbing his side laughing with zero context as if this whole thing is just unfathomably hilarious?

    • @temptep
      @temptep 3 ปีที่แล้ว +72

      @@DoctaFlood You're missing the part where they've been friends for over 30 years and are most likely deeply fond of each other. Have you never had such a friend? One you can't help but laugh with, no matter how mundane the setting or topic you're discussing is? If you haven't, then I'm sorry - and moreover this video probably isn't a great fit for you.
      However, while I don't think the laughter is forced, I'll certainly grant that the clips are heavily edited. In particular, the cut around ~2:07 stood out to me: Larry suddenly goes from resting his arms to holding his cup with both hands at chin height, but Jerry's speech is perfectly continuous.
      Anyway, humor is subjective, and both of these people are actors. I personally don't think any of the laughter herein depicted is forced, but I do think the editing makes it unnaturally dense.

      After the 1993 season, they started holding scheduled meetings where other comedians would come to Larry and Jerry and pitch comedic situations they found themselves in as possible plots or subplots for Seinfeld. They would take notes and if they decided to use your story or your material, you’d go to NBC studios and sign NDAs stipulating that the events you sold them were no longer yours to discuss. This very practice led to the episode where Kramer sells J. Peterman his stories that demonstrated irony. That’s the episode where Elaine has to warn Kramer”Peterman fell in mud; you didn’t.”

    I am watching this on Netflix since I wanted to watch the whole episode. One part that I find pretty Seinfeldesque is when Jerry says he probably hasn't seen a real spit=take in 5 years. Earlier (in the uncut episode), they were talking about a car Larry David was thinking about buying and Jerry asks when was that. Larry says "about 5 years ago" and Jerry says he had a feeling it was 5 years. It's always 5 years.
    For him to weave that back into the conversation effortlessly is great comedic timing and intelligence and shows why Jerry's a master. They both are.
