    I'm so sorry Kacha. I lost my mom three years ago. It is so hard. My acting coach used to say, "Creativity is a survival instinct" very true. I'm so glad you found a way to happiness and healing. I also feel that my mom left me with a way to happiness, life is filled with mixed blessings. xoxo

      Thank you Debi, I did not know that about you. It is so hard. I never even knew I was even creative until these things happened. Mixed blessings for sure, but we are blessed to do what we love. Thank you for listening! ❤️

      Debi, I am so sorry about your mom, too. I remember watching a video you posted about losing your mom and I remember crying watching the video and feeling your pain and feeling that I could relate since I had recently lost my mom, too. You, like Kacha, are a huge inspiration to so many of us out here watching - thank you for sharing and keep the creativity rolling. It's one of the the best ways we can honor our moms because they always believed in us!

    Who knew paint could be such a deep subject? I feel your pain AND Your love for painting! And the way it makes you feel when you're done with a piece. Thank you for sharing your story and your passion. You are the main reason I started to paint, because your work inspired me above the others. YOU are what I aspire to be. Thank you Kacha please don't ever stop being YOU! Brenda P.

    I totally feel you about lack of confidence/depression. I took Care of my mom for 5 years. Shes been gone now for 5 years but the pain is still there. I want so badly to get serious about painting furniture...but the fear of failing is so strong. Listening to your story helped. Im glad you have your hubby. He sounds like a wonderful guy. Ty

      Thank you for listening! I can relate to how you feel. I can tell you that if you love to paint then you can't fail. Take it slow and enjoy the process, it takes time and trust me you will learn from it. Fighting our fear can seem impossible but once you do it's one of the greatest feelings ever. Without failure there is no happiness. I know that sounds backwards but it's true. We can't celebrate our high moments without knowing what the low moments feel like. You have already gone through what is probably the hardest part of life. I hope this helps! ❤️

    Finally got to watch 👀 and glad I did ... it’s truly amazing to see your confidence in how your communicating with in your own words to your audience !!
    Adding your podcast is a great 👍🏻 idea and uniquely creative 😉
    Sharing parts of yourself to the social media is not easy but you did and it truly shows how real and beautiful you are inside and out 🤗
    When you talked about putting yourself on social media and how your husband pushed you and you resisted... I did the exact same! For a few years too! All I could think to myself was ... negative 👎 reaction from others and it would make me lose interest in doing anything creative. My husband is my wonder wall and my best friend. Being creative is my safe place and sharing was the hardest and I still have reserved moments. You have given people a place to go and open their imagination which for many is priceless ☺️
    So talking from your heart both the good things and hard moments defines your creative energy and a true positive one!
    I will always being cheering for you

    Oh Kacha, I am so sorry about your mom. I can feel your pain. I can totally relate because my mom passed on 3 years ago and, just like you, the furniture and chalk paint were calling to me after she passed (it was something that I had wanted to try for a long time, but never made the time for it). I took the plunge and put my brush filled with blue paint to a big, crazy piece of furniture that I bought at an estate sale and it's been such a wonderful journey ever since. I really believe it's what helped me keep my sanity after losing my mom. I also believe that she was guiding me to this form of self expression and beauty, knowing that it would help me through the dark times and improve my life. Out of the ashes rises the Phoenix! You are an inspiration to me and to so many of us out here - please keep up the wonderful work and keep inspiring us with your stories and your art. Blessings to you and thank you for sharing how you came to be a furniture painting artist with us. Also, kudos to your husband for being your biggest fan and for pushing you gently to go on Instagram and TH-cam. He sounds like a wonderful, supportive person and I'm glad you are taking this journey together (along with your fur babies!). Blessings, Kacha!

    So sorry to hear about your mom. I can definitely relate to paint therapy though. My mom was the queen of going to and having garage sales since I can remember so my love of furniture was passed on😊 She can’t do it anymore but I still do and about 3 yrs ago I started painting. I work full time on a job that I’ve been on for 20 years and it’s very stressful so painting is my escape and I truly enjoy it! In 2005 I Lost 5 family members with in 5 months. It about destroyed me. Then I had medical problems. I started working even at evening because I did not want to be home. My dogs brought me back to reality, they did not ask for me to ignore them. Then after Christmas, one of my dogs passed. I slipped over the the edge again. I thought of seeking help with a medium. She instructed me on how to help my self, and to watch for a puppy to come my way. Three months later I was called to rescue a puppy,(schnauzer just like the one I lost) God moves in mysterious ways. I started coming out of my depression when I brought my new puppy home. I started painting, this was 15 years ago. Thank you for your story, I believe a lot of us go through life changing situations. It all about accepting our losses and find new thing to look forward to and for us to look at things differently. Thank you again.

    Aww thanks for sharing your story Kacha. I started crying when you mentioned your Mom and getting depressed. My Dad died a bit back and i felt very sad and lost. Losing a parent is so life changing. He was a big support in my life. When i saw your you tubes one day i just lit up and must have watched about 15 in a row... all day lol.
    I can stick to only small tables that i can p/u myself so... yep i sold about 3 and have about 4 done and about 6 unpainted... all in my apartment lol. But for some reason my next 4 aren't selling. So maybe I will repaint them. But I think they're super cute!
    So thought Id try Etsy. But having trouble figuring it out and the shipping part. I think i found a gal on you tube though as she's emailed me back. Im hoping she can help me sort out all that.
    But i knew i saw your you tubes for a reason and hearing your story made perfect sense why ❤️❤️😊

      So i messaged Lauras Design a while (I think you know who she is on IG?) and asked her about how she ships (she's based in New York). She said yes ppl are willing to pay shipping charges. She gave me an idea and said one dresser she shipped cost about $600. But they pay it she said. She also pallets up her items/wraps them etc and has a hubby/wife team that ships them across the States.
      I was amazed someone would pay that much but she's popular and so are you. Im sure ppl would pay for shipping for your pieces!

    You were one of the first people I saw use Waverly Curry yellow and that decided the color for my colonial secretary. Have you tried to use natural sea sponge instead of brush for texturing? This is what we use to repair the texture on walls or add a faux leather look to the top of furniture. Walmart also has furniture onlay appliques that really dress up a plain piece. Have you ever used? Podcasts are informative and fun. Thanks.

    • @KachaFurniture
      @KachaFurniture  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried that sponge technique, it's pretty cool. I am now used to doing everything with a brush and I love it! I have seen those appliques in Walmart but haven't purchased them, they do look very cool! Thanks for listening to the podcast!

    You are so cute! Thank you for sharing personal information about you. I too have lost my Mom and at any age its very hard. I have a lot of home projects I want to tackle but I tend to freak out about what technique to use or what colors to use and so they just sit. I currently have a china hutch painted all in Dixie belle drop cloth. It's pretty but boring and I just can't figure out what to add. I haven't added any wax yet and I know that will make a difference but do you have any suggestions? I like the farmhouse look. I thought about dry brushing but normally a dark color is the base instead of a light color...any suggestions would be appreciated! Unfortunately I am not a visionary like you, I have to see something and then I get ideas from that. Sorry for the rambling!❤️

    • @KachaFurniture
      @KachaFurniture  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheryl Tiefenthaler it’s really your decision based off what you like. You can distress since you want that farmhouse look. Sometimes that’s all a piece needs. You can try playing with some black wax and add some depth. You can try some gray dry brushing. That can look cool. You can even distress that too! The possibilities are endless it’s really a question of what you like. Remember you can always fix it and go back if you don’t like it! Thank you for listening to the podcast! ❤️

      It all depends on your climate where you live. For me it's about 1 hour. Once it looks dry and feels dry it's probably safe to add the second coat, you should not have to wait 24 hours!
