      Thanks! We only had one rehearsal, and most of the players were high schoolers - so they did a great job considering!

    What a lively performance! An excellent composition indeed. I especially enjoyed section A, it was simultaneously familiar and new. The section where it briefly breaks into a string quartet was very cool as well.

  • @music556

    Really nicely done and beautifully written. I do have one question or idea, depending on where you want to go with it as the composer. Why does this sound like it could be the theme song to a videogame of some sort? Anyone else get that vibe from this piece or is it just me?

    I mean, citing the musicians would have been cool, shout-out to them for playing this beautiful piece so well
    I have to say, I have found that Dorian feeling a bit cliché at times, but very beautiful nonetheless

  • @cylnx4174

    When possible, use tenor instead of treble for cello, it's easier to read due to where the open strings align

    • @JJBerthume
      @JJBerthume  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Splodinate Kabloominate Absolutely! That’s something I’ve learned since writing this piece.

    What do you use for your compositions and playback on your soundcloud?

    • @JJBerthume
      @JJBerthume  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gregory Baxter Depends on the piece! A lot of them are NotePerformer, and a lot of them are various sample libraries. If you ask about a specific piece I can let you know details.

      @gregorybaxter1324 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was just curious, I'm a music student in Maine and just got Sibelius and was wondering what you did to make the pieces come to life.

      Patrick Ward Spiderman "with great power comes great responsibility" theme by Elfman? Mildly similar to that. Or the haunting B theme in Silvestri's Polar Express? That type of descending motion with a deceptive cadence is pretty common. Let me know if you think of anything specific! :)

    4:01 at section H, sounds very similar to one portion from the "Staff Roll" in Super Mario Galaxy 1 game.

      I think it sounds very similar to this part: th-cam.com/video/lBrwceBdDQQ/w-d-xo.htmlm4s. Granted, it's not like it copies the safe motif, it's just that I found it very similar.
