To be honest it's time for sports science to update the Kobe sports science and get into the brink of his greatness. The sports science on Kobe is the fade away shot that he perfected even though Jordan used it, that shot is critical to some of the most elite athletes. Not sure who was the 1st at using it in a very efficient way but Jordan and then Kobe took it to another level. With new shooters like Curry, Thompson & post up shooters like Ray Allen, I'm not sure the fade away shot could ever be as great with Kobes 20 year career coming to an end. Dirk gets the nod for his fade away shot of course but I wonder sports science. What is a fade away shot? who's the best to ever do it? Can only 2 people ever be that great at it? How tall are you really when you jump and lean back and shoot like that? How tall would you have to be to stop someone else's fade away shot? That shot killed the spirit of many guarding Kobe over his 5 championship career & don't see any repeating it anytime soon
sports science showed there isnt such a thing as hangtime, they showed hangtime is the illusion of staying in the air longer because of how they move their hands and legs in the air to give the appearance of staying in the air longer
Those guys should have set up a light gate that will trigger a signal when the car crosses it so the dude knows when to jump. Factor in thinking, reaction and jumping time and you've got it.
Oh, and then watch his feet from 7:30 to 7:31 change places. They did two takes, one where he is standing in the path of the car but then it veers away and one where he stands to the side of the car
he should get a running start.. it gathers more momentum and lets him get better height for the jump, with a good approach he could clear that easily in my opinion.
But the difference is Griffin jumped over the hood of the kia. Not the entire car, where this one they attempt to jump the full height and length of the car. But of course 75% of the NBA can jump over a car. I dont know if they can while its moving though.
