Sport Science host John Brenkus tries to single handedly stop NFL tight end Vernon Davis fron running 20 yards Read about more amazing athletic feats: www.amazon.com/...
he says that he was traveling so fast his skin burned off, Its called turf burn allot of people get it when playing on turf it is not that big of an acomplishment.
Sports Science does a awesome job not only showing the science of various aspects in all sports, they analyze and show just how amazing professional athletes are. Great job Sports Science...especially you John Brenkis lol!
Ignorant ass twelve year old Vernon davis is six foot four inches and two-hundred and fifty pounds and he has a speed of a running back or even a god damn receiver do you really think you have a chance against that man plus he as years and years of knowledge of playing the sports for probably uhhhh two and a half decades from playing the sport so i really don't think you'd stand a chance against him and i think you'd end up the same way as John but worst.
Well obviously, its one thing to drag dead weight, another to try to drag an athlete trying to pull you down. If it were like this on Sundays, Vernon Davis would score a TD with every other catch he makes. But Vernon Davis is a real monster, so damn strong.
This is what happens when you try to arm tackle. I'm glad Vernon Davis broke out last year. Its amazing when a beast like him starts to put it together.
I dont think that its the same as in a game, because in a game, you aren't dragging people by ropes, they'll probably be at your waist, which would impede his stride
I look back many years later and say that they should have fully extended the strap before starting the exercise. The way they did it in the video allowed VD to get a head start without the tackler having any momentum
SportsScience used to have validity but now it's just bull shit! The guys didn't even get tucked or provide and resistance. They basically dove forward!!!
Diego 541 yes, this was stupid. The way the host was tied around the belt made it easy for the guy to knock him off his balance. I way less than the host but I probably could have dragged the host because the way the harness is setup efficiently utilizes a lot of the bodies muscles. I bet the average man could have easily pulled the host across the end zone.
If your in the air your body can only put up half the max resistance your body could with both feet on the ground. Vernon Davis is a beast he got hit hard a took it like a man.
To bad this is 6 years old , and Peyton is playing bad , and Owen Daniels and whoever else already doesn't get much work , I don't think it will be a game changer but it's nice to always have another option
Jayden Taylor peyton doesn't play bad whenever he is able to do his thing and run the offense the way he wants to..if the head couch will stop trying to run the offense then everything would be ok
Latrell Guy kubiak should have never been called in as a headcouch... especially not to run and offense that wasn't broken in order to put in place an offensive system that didn't not work AT ALL with his last team in baltimore... Peyton has been his own offensive coordinator for the past 12 years the head coach is just supposed to look at the overall performance of the team not stick his nose and hands in and screw everything up
The point I was trying to make was that cardio for a football players important in terms of practicing, but in game situations it's not nearly as important as it is in rugby.
For one, cardio is needed for explosiveness between plays. 2, you have to be able to keep up this explosiveness for an entire 4 quarter, 15 minute quarter game. It's far worse if you have to play on offense, defense and special teams where the only rest you get is time outs, huddles and half time. It's needed for winning that first step off the line for a lineman, getting ahead of a D-back for a catch, keeping up w/ recievers on defense, breaking long runs without getting caught from behind etc.
Obviously you have to lean back and plant your feet to even have a chance at holding back someone. Any highschool player could yank a man off their feet with this set up....
you know who's the most underated TE in the league. Ben Patrick for the cardinals. He can do just as much as VD can. you just don't hear about him for some reason
@Bk1237 agreed with what your saying about the reciever, but no way a powerback, runningbacks are much shorter, i dont know if you meant to say fullback, if you did i definently agree with you. But this guy runs a 4.37 forty and hes about 6"3 so yeah he could be a regular reciever not a tight end
twelve feet from where his feet were when he was standing to where his hands landed. The guy is probably over 6 feet tall with his arms out so he flew like 6 feet
Actually depends who it is , forwards are normally bigger and just as fast (not props), backs (runners) are even in weight or less but it still wouldn't be that bad for them
@WHOWHAT11 This the kind of test that makes the person holding the rope in a very awkward position making a very unrealistic test. Most running backs in the NFL would be able to do this too.
@Cheema0113 yea but they play two different positions, they have to adjust, in willis' position speed isnt everything and strength isnt eveyrthing, its knowing where the ball is and where its going to go, davis on the other hand needs to run quickly make cuts, hit ppl and still go so he needs to be stronger
Not meaning to start a Rugby against American Football argument, but they way NFL players tackle is very inefficient compared to Rugby. The reason you get people like Vernon Davis is because the tackle him above his legs, which means he can keep running. Unless it is illegal to do so in Football, then they should really be aiming to tackle by wrapping their arms around the runner's legs. Whilst there are much more efficient ways to tackle, I believe that would be a step in the right direction.
my man John Brenkus always doing stuff for science. Got pounded by a linebacker and gets pulled by a tight end. check my man is he depressed i think he has suicidal tendencies
Maybe fitter as far as endurance, definitely not stronger. That "armor" barely does much when you have huge guys who bulid themselves to be as big, strong, and explosive as possible.
@Conn203 underarmour gloves suck. I used them before i started using cutters back in high school. They were good for about a few weeks before the stickiness wore off. Cutters were solid the whole season and all it needed was a wash or spit shine to get even sticker. Nah underarmour is weaksaue, dont buy it just b/c it has the underarmour name.
Man I am rugby player and I agree with you. Nfl has FAR better athletes But there are some fellas playing in rugby union and league who are fantastic athletes and could cut it. IMO the difference is Nfl is based on Athleticism. You gotta be the biggest, fastest and strongest to succeed. Rugby skill sets are far more versatile and fatigue is a much bigger factor, so its not always that the most athletic player is the best. some of the best players arent great athletes, just super skilful.
Football is a collision sport. You have big fast guys going full speed at each other, sometimes launching themselves at each other. I know rugby is a contact sport, but football players are bigger than rugby players.
No, not really 2.5 Kris Jenkins across the goal line. Only that he could have for a brief moment moved 2.5 Kris Jenkins. He didn't generate that 1200 lbs of force consistently throughout the entirety of that run. He was already moving quite a bit slower by the end. Still amazing though.
“Doesn’t shy away from contact” *jumps over defender*
Jaxon Douglas 💀💀i was like wtf
Woah five days ago cant belive we still watch theese vids lmao
thing is, this is 360 lbs of dead weight, they are not pulling just holding on. They should have been pulling in the opposite direction the whole time
TV BS, lol lokat his turf drag, that could've been prevented
Crap Bag what are you talking about.
He doesn't like the feeling of Kam Chancellor hitting him.. that's for damn sure.
You know thats right and we going to the supers bowl!
yeah seahawks
@@clutchxmvpx3052 things said moments before disaster
@@leeoswald6803 lol
He was in the air
than kam chancellor stole his soul
he says that he was traveling so fast his skin burned off, Its called turf burn allot of people get it when playing on turf it is not that big of an acomplishment.
+fuzzy puggle Sports Science.
That's why I wear under armour on turf
Omg I hate turf burn I don't know why I find it so bad
+JuiceBoxGaming I had to wear shorts cause long pants made my knees burn 😂
+fuzzy puggle a little different because when im sliding for a ball, i stop eventually. with this he keeps going and going since he's being dragged.
this guy is a beast... what a game he had
the guy who is wearing the red shirt was throwing himself .
His hairline was pulled back further than he pulled those guys
Lmfao damn
Ahh yes. At a time when he was actually good and didn't drop balls
They should do one on Kam Chancellor on knocking Vernon Davis the fuck out twice.
+redmustang03 or the one where Malcolm Butler beat the fuck outta the Seahawks
Most JUANerable Yea don't be fucking stupid, Malcom butler is good but just fuck ofc

me taking my dog for a walk

5:44 GRIND ON ME
I could of done better than John and Im only freaking 12
Ignorant ass twelve year old Vernon davis is six foot four inches and two-hundred and fifty pounds and he has a speed of a running back or even a god damn receiver do you really think you have a chance against that man plus he as years and years of knowledge of playing the sports for probably uhhhh two and a half decades from playing the sport so i really don't think you'd stand a chance against him and i think you'd end up the same way as John but worst.
It's not about if he could have done better or what not. It was about how much Vernon Davis could have carried to the endzone.
so this why u guys hate us 12 year-olds
go back to playing minecraft already
This isn't even a question. You know that the best tight end in football is going to drag you 10 yards into the end zone. Go 49ers / Vernon Davis .
He holds the record for touchdowns for a TE in a season. He missed a third of the season this year and has 11 touchdowns.
@pzl120 well said! 250+ lbs running a 4.3 is crazy. I would like to see him play some at RB, lol.
Well obviously, its one thing to drag dead weight, another to try to drag an athlete trying to pull you down. If it were like this on Sundays, Vernon Davis would score a TD with every other catch he makes.
But Vernon Davis is a real monster, so damn strong.

I'm glad Vernon Davis broke out last year. Its amazing when a beast like him starts to put it together.
man i laughed so hard!!!!!! i mean that beast made him the fucking host fly!!!!!
@KimfromSoCal True, I'd love to see Mike Alstott come back and do this. Legends has it that he dragged 6 or 7 guys into the endzone.
first time they actually bring an elite player
I dont think that its the same as in a game, because in a game, you aren't dragging people by ropes, they'll probably be at your waist, which would impede his stride

Diego 541 Why do you write like that?
Diego 541 yes, this was stupid. The way the host was tied around the belt made it easy for the guy to knock him off his balance. I way less than the host but I probably could have dragged the host because the way the harness is setup efficiently utilizes a lot of the bodies muscles. dont want to risk injury. purpose was just to get some numbers out.
v.d. is a beast.
good to see him finally coming around.
If your in the air your body can only put up half the max resistance your body could with both feet on the ground. Vernon Davis is a beast he got hit hard a took it like a man.
These guys had horrible stances
and this is the tight end that denver just gót from the 49ets to complete their 3 tightend set... goodluck everyone else
+richard grace what do you think the head coach is for
Latrell Guy kubiak should have never been called in as a headcouch... especially not to run and offense that wasn't broken in order to put in place an offensive system that didn't not work AT ALL with his last team in baltimore... Peyton has been his own offensive coordinator for the past 12 years the head coach is just supposed to look at the overall performance of the team not stick his nose and hands in and screw everything up
noor k they won the superbowl in spite of kubiaks offense because peyton could manage the game well enough and because of wade Phillips
Maybe if they had good stance they wouldn't get snatched so hard
"That 160lb guy" is kinda the host of the show you're on.
little respect would be nice to see Vernon...
+Evan Wilson vernon don't give a fuck he's in the nfl
The point I was trying to make was that cardio for a football players important in terms of practicing, but in game situations it's not nearly as important as it is in rugby.
the 4 dislikes are antonio gates, tony gonzalez, dallas clark and john brenkus
thats like trying to go on a walk with a bear LOL
Exactly. They're built for short bursts of energy one after another.
john flies in the air!
@Conn203 He had Cutters on his right hand with all the sensors and then he put on the UnderArmour glove before they did the test.
For one, cardio is needed for explosiveness between plays. 2, you have to be able to keep up this explosiveness for an entire 4 quarter, 15 minute quarter game. and me thinks the little guy sold it like a miami heat player.

When both of them got jerked 😂😂😂😂😂😂 im dying
To take him out needs to be strength not weight
"who wants to go fo a ride???"

5:49
That sounds like the monster in temple run
He jumped over a defender to get more yards. Jumping may actually make you more vulnerable to large amount of contact.
Actually depends who it is , forwards are normally bigger and just as fast (not props), backs (runners) are even in weight or less but it still wouldn't be that bad for them
I hate when they keep replaying the same scene over and over again.
Am I the only one seeing two white guys holding a leash on a black guy?
Although in the game people are holding onto you grabbing your legs
ya know they act like its hard to pull someone 160 pound guy
he is such a beast
i got a magazine that says Davis can power clin 480
If they take the slack out of the damn tow line it would stop that initial jerk and they wouldn't have flown like that.
Sean2112 i could care less thats was awesome seeing brenkus fly
also if he didn't stand straight up
@WHOWHAT11 This the kind of test that makes the person holding the rope in a very awkward position making a very unrealistic test. Most running backs in the NFL would be able to do this too.
i think brandon jacobs from da giant would have been a good choice for diz one.
@Hampsey83 Hell yeah. You gotta give him all the respect for that.
Just look at the hosts' tactic the second time round. Some people never learn.
but then he ran to the back of the endzone.....that adds another 10 yards
try and do that against haloti ngata
BEAST MODE!!!!!
Ha 360 lbs. i could do 420
jk
Best tight end in the leauge
@Cheema0113 yea but they play two different positions, they have to adjust, in willis' position speed isnt everything and strength isnt eveyrthing, its knowing where the ball is and where its going to go, davis on the other hand needs to run quickly make cuts, hit ppl and still go so he needs to be stronger
Bit of bedtime biomechanics!
at 2:58 i discovered the worst superman torpedo lick
This 'Average Joe' is still heavier than me. I wonder who the lightest punter or kicker is nowadays.
I swear, John Brenkus is the most abused show host lol
daaayyumm, did any of you guys here the sonic boom?
Throw back to when he could actually catch a ball
I think Bam Chancellor is to blame for that

his face. :) hahahaha at 3:39
Tony might have better hands but who would you pick on a 1 vs 1 match-up? VD all day.

Absolutely. When I saw Stephen Jackson from the Rams in person he looked like a linebacker not a running back!
