@@goldenrodthedragon male new ones. I find drawing edgy characters to both be good practice and a good refresher for ideas, because you can work backwards from them and pick out what you like from it.
Honestly I love making eye bleeding edgy characters Without Apology. This OC is beautiful and ugly and edgy and I'll put them in the world whether everyone else likes it or not
I never went through the cringy eye bleeding rainbow color phase so I might just make a character like that on purpose just to recreate it in a better way

That's why it's an advice. The reason she changed that little detail was to fit in the scene she had in mind which was the circus. To artists, having too many details on one thing only makes it complex and confusing for the viewer.
They would only be like "What abomination is this?"
So, the whole point of why she introduced composition and scenery was because they're a guide. Whatever scenario you thought about and making it your background, there's a chance you would try changing the complex design of your characters to simpler ones, just so they could blend in the mood of the setting.
Well like she said sometimes you can take creative liberties like that depending on the situation

I super love how this came out, however i feel like all the filters and lighting and deep shadows drowned out the colors in this character SO MUCH that if that was my personal character i was having you draw, i wouldnt even KNOW it was my character.
Yeah, tbh I'd be pretty annoyed if I paid someone to draw my character and they changed/drowned it out this much. This tutorial is decent for if you wanna work with your own character, but I honestly hope people don't actually purposely do this to someone else's characters they're paid to draw ouo;; They took out all the actual design in the character, now it's just a regular black wolf wearing a bunch of accessories.

I seriously love watching these types of videos from you. Oddly, this sticks much more with my learning than other videos/instructions I've either found, been given or experimented with. I've struggled with art for nearly 14 years because of how I process information and what I can physically see and it has put me in a really depressive state everytime I try to draw when I want to feel the enjoyment of art again and have work I can actually feel at least content about but for the first time in years, I'm actually having some improvement thanks to these small videos ^-^ You're awesome.

I love how a lot of the contest entries put him in a psychedelic environment that he actually looks like he belongs in rather than trying to obscure him enough to fit into our reality. Not that those ones weren't brilliant too, but the design was made that much more cohesive when it was placed in a world that made sense of it

I love how you showed that with the right execution you can make any concept work I see alot of people afraid to try strange designs for dear of it being edgy or obnoxious so I'm glad you showed that you don't have to shy away from them just need to find a way to make it work

It's kind of exhausting to see so many tutorials shallowly go "uhh colors and edge are illegal! NO FUN ALLOWED!!!"
So it's super refreshing to hear that bright, chaotic designs CAN be made to work!
These characters may only look bad because the presentation/style/context doesnt add up. A neon edgewolf looks ridiculous in a normal realistic forest, but may look cool as hell in a surreal equally neon environment/style (as proven by those contest entries)
Or your evil-spooky-circus scenario, etc...
(I also got a lower key "dont judge the quality of a CHARACTER DESIGN based on the artist's skill." Because even if I'm looking too deeply into this, it's still true. It's incredible how often I see some kid's OC get shit all over... But than they ask an experienced artist to draw it and it gets nothing but praise. It's honestly maddening)

Oh man im so happy you didn't change the design and instead are teaching us how to draw it! I love scenecore and kidcore with all my heart and it makes me so happy to see it not be shunned!
Just a tip I like to use on complex, colorful characters:
I like to make sure that, even if there’s every color on the spectrum on this character, the color scheme remains the same; pastel, dull, highly saturated.. etc
I also like to make sure there is some sort of blending where two or more contrasting colors meet. An example of this could be an ombré, or keeping the same kind of shading and lighting straight through the two colors. Another to blend them is to keep them on a lighter opacity over the same base color.
Oh, this is where the pufferbunny came from
For me I think the red was a little to hard in the end, but hey that’s just my personal opinion. I’ve always been amazed by your artwork and I really hope to reach your skill level someday :)
