And to be clear, anything over 3k is “more than you can afford pal” for me. Ha ha. That’s why I follow you to turn a 3k car to a 300k car that will outdrive me any day of the week.

The 997 generation has been my favourite simply because I grew up looking at these models and driving them in racing games. It's peak 911 design no matter what model you talk about.
Recently purchased a 997 Turbo S and it’s been blissful. The 997 generation represents the best of the water cooled cars from Porsche, IMO. Great video, Vin!
Id love to see an episode on the MK4 Golf. A base car maybe 1.8 NA, 2.0, 1.9tdi or even 12v VR6, a 1.8t GTI, Anniversary GTI or 337 GTI and finally the R32
I honestly learned more about porsche in this video than I have ever known. Before this vid the only thing I knew was. No one liked the 996, and that's just because it was the 1 that everyone LS swapped. Great video. And come on People smash that subscribe
The biggest bang for your buck is the 997 GT3, basically same engine and transmission of the GT3 RS but almost half the price. The experience is 98% the same.
I really like the idea of this video. Taking one model and picking apart many available trims for the model to kind of put yourself in that trim and decide where you would sit!
Can’t get over how many cuts there are in the background but yet how the audio is so seamlessly matched - amazing editing quality. Love the channel Vin
Loved the vid, but as you said Porsche guys will Porsche, the GT2RS is not the top 997, it is the GT3RS4.0!!!! Also you missed the standard GT2, which they made a 997.1 of!
Awesome stuff. You're becoming one of my fav automotive personalities. A bit of everything here; advice and info, sick machines, fuck ups, the boy's JZX, best puppers, and laughs. I sincerely hope you plan on doing an episode on M3s, E36 to F80.
I am so in love with the high revving Porsche GT3s of all modern models! A couple of pounds of sound deadening so its more bearable on the road and it would be perfect!!
Had the luxury of driving my cousin’s 996 for a weekend when I was visiting him back in May, 2024.. fell in love immediately. Love the basic interior, the feel of the driving characteristics and the smallish wheel base. Chef’s kiss!
I’m really enjoying mine. It’s a Tiptronic cabriolet, which is supposed to be the worst offering but I bought for so cheap that I didn’t care. I slapped a hardtop on it, some 19 inch Champion Motorsports RS97’s and and a GT3 style front bumper and let it rip
You only get so many minutes in your life time and every one I've spent watching your channel has been worth it. 🙏 thank you so much for the hard work and content!
Hey Vin… Awesome video, as a fan of Porsche from way back when I didn’t know about cars especially Porsche.. to see you drive the other cars and the look on your face and the big smile on your face you drove each one with a honest opinion of each car. And then you finished the video driving your own car and give us an unbiased opinion and look at your car. Brilliant job, so chill vibe the entire video, awesome choice of background music. Is Jolly your editor And camera guy on occasion, smooth transitions, choice of background music. Great choice for this video for those know but don’t know, like me…. Didn’t know the difference outside of the exterior of the car the stuff that you can notice, intakes, spoilers/wings, tires/rims and sound of the engine. Keep doing what you’re doing, I enjoy every minute of this and every video that you have so far. Big fan.. Most importantly you keep on being you, enjoying the content that you are creating. Final thing… the if situation was reversed, would you watch this……?. Stay chill. TC from nyc.
What's funny is there is actually shockingly little difference between the C2s and the GT3 on the chassis side. Other than the engine its basically one control arm at each corner, dampers, different subframe mounts at the rear and carriers in the front to correct for roll center, sway bars, brakes, brake master cylinder, and one plastic bushing replaced with a metal one in the shifter. That's literally it. Compared with something like an M3 where the track is wider and the arms are completely different etc. it pretty simple to do a conversion. A C2s with these parts is literally the same car as a GT3 besides the motor. Everything besides the front carriers is super easy to find and swap over too. You'll have 85% of the car for 30% of the money.
The 997 Turbo was the first production car to have variable vein turbos fitted. So the turbo lag is limited. FYI If you have a mic you should use it when in the car, you wouldn’t have to shout. Great video though on my favourite Porsche model (I’m an owner).
Great idea for a series man! I’m curious for how often the turbo is called the GT car of the lineup, how soft did it ride? When you guys first set off it looked really stiff on camera, but may have just been a bad patch of road.
Looooove this concept, also helps that you started with not just my favorite 911 but my favorite car ever, the 997. Cant wait to see what other models you do. Keep it up the great vids!

Love this video format! It would be cool to see this but with e9x gen bmw’s . I think it would be cool to see how a different a 328i is to a 335is and m3. The Engines are so different between them all and it would be cool to see how it changes the character of the car. As a former owner of a 07 335i and now an 08 M3 it was crazy to see how different they are in terms of the experience the engine provides, although pretty similar in chassis dynamics.
Great video. I’ve seriously considered buying one of each of the cars you reviewed at some point pre-Covid (997 c2s/997.1 turbo/997.1 GT3RS). They’re all amazing cars in their own way.
Great video as always, Vin. Just picked up a 997.2 Cab (specifically wanted a cab for cruising top-down with the missus). What a thoroughly satisfying car, even as a "boring base" model. I nearly daily it
love this concept. C6 corvette would lend itself super well to this format. I would also say E90 BMW could be cool on a different price point with the 328, 335, M3 or the 1 or 2 series too. Also different Generations of the same car would be cool like CTS-V, M3, M5, etc. Loving the content Vin!
Dude, great upload. I own an old 02 996.2 with some bits and bobs. I always want a touch more HP, although, I am on my second motor and I am not interested in reducing reliability to get it. I have titanium pipes, suspension, quality pads, h&r etc etc. It works well. Comparing all of these is useful. You don't have to go all in on a GT3 or more to enjoy. My brother had a 996 Turbo and that thing ran circles around the 360 directly. Balance is so key. Keep the vids going man, I immediately subscribed when I saw you on your own. Awesome!

It was because the Headlights and that bearing issue. Once you replaced the IMS bearing seal. Bulletproof
Honestly the simplicity of the design of the base model 911s is just so complete.
The biggest bang for your buck is the 997 GT3, basically same engine and transmission of the GT3 RS but almost half the price. The experience is 98% the same.
Longer gearing and the lack of a single-mass flywheel seem minor, but make a huge difference in character and emotion.
That booty tho. 997 RS is the 🐐
I added the 4.0 single mass flywheel and clutch to mine. It drives almost the same.
@@freddysardinas1351 ah fair play- you left that part out ha; Fantastic upgrade!!
for sure but the gearing is everything, you should do the r&p on yours. Widebody and other crap is cool but doesn't enhance the experience.
Owning a 997.1 Targa4S (Manual) and 992 TurboS I have to admit that the Targa4S just seems more engaging 😊
Hearing you talk through each car is quite educational for those of us that don’t know what to know.
Porsche guy Nick Murray says that the base model 911 is always the most fun.
So does Hammond but the neither have access to the fast canyons above LA so that may be a factor. Roads are wider too.
