It's probably your itemization that leads you to suffer mid-late. Roshan is bait 90% of the time. Respawn timer is so fast that you can contest even after losing a fight. I'd skip it and not worry about it tbh.
great guide, but I would have dropped a part about the healing creep, killing that on the enemy team can be a huge swing and punish them if they try to take yours down.
Do you have any advice for getting out-harassed in lane vs characters that have a gun with better range and don't engage you up close? My first attempt at Shiv was so bad and securing confirms/denies felt really bad when I played him. I've since settled into playing tanky chararacters like Abrams, Warden, the pig after trying out almost everyone but I can't shake the feeling I'm doing something wrong that is letting these situations become unfavored towards me. I couldn't really get a feel for pockets gun either, but I don't struggle with Abrams gun and Mo and Krill is maybe becoming my favorite now. The Warden and piggy I feel this gravitation to and I'm sure it's because their guns don't let me get denied like a shotgun does with the fire rate and range issues, but walking up closer and past the bridge in the middle of lane feels like you just eat a ton of damage trying to get farm. I'm not really sure how to approach Shiv and Pocket from a laning perspective because of it. Should I be buying the headshot item, is the attack range buffing item usable on these characters?
im bad at clicking on things, so i feel like i only win my lane when my opponent actively loses their lane to me. either by focusing too much on harass, or dying for no reason. against people who click the orbs, i just have a sad time :(
Hi Deathy, just found your channel and I have a question for you. I see you bought headshot booster early game, it was my favorite item when I started playing, before I discovered it has a 7s cooldown and it only adds a 45 flat damage instead of a percentage. Thats like 6~ extra DPS. I can o my see its use on very niche, early game builds. Maybe sniping headshots with a shotgun from the distance. Aside from that, I think any other t1 item is way better. Overall more ammo, 20% more damage or 12% more firerate will all have more value overtime and some will be useful a fair amount of time after laning phase, and headshot booster will be obsolete very quickly. Im fairly new compared to you, only 100 games in but I like to optimize and study the items, an opinion from a much more experienced player would be great, I really want to be convinced to use headshot booster since a lot of good players use it
The thing with items like that is you aren’t shooting your lane opponent all the time. It’s for harass. If you were shooting them constantly it’s only 6 DPS yeah, but if you’re only shooting them 1 second out of every 3 now it’s 20 DPS, if you’re only shooting them 1 second out of 6 it’s 40 DPS. Harass is done in little bits between creeps and items like headshot booster are meant to give you an extra chunk on those short exchanges rather than to buff your damage notably in all-in fights.
What should i do if its like this. Im abram, enemy seven. Solo lane At start enemy keep hitting me but i got the soul and deny. On the second wave my health already half even tho i have more soul. Enemy keep hitting me instead of farming. Second wave cant get any cause he keep hitting me. Im too low to show up
Generally utilize cover more, remember you can last hit and confirm/deny at deceptive range with a shotgun, and as soon as you have 500 souls get healing rite and pop it somewhere he can’t hit you from. Health regen items are also good for healing off poke (monster rounds gives some health regen too and helps make sure you’re keeping up with creeps while playing defensive) And enjoy a soul advantage cause if he’s focusing you that much then he’s probably missing farm while you’re not. Oh and make sure to start 3 as Abrams, on top of regenerating some of the damage you take it also gives you more flat regen.
The big question I have is - How do I itemise? Is it worth going for more smaller items to fill out all of your slots like in DOTA? Do you build up to bigger items first like in League? Or is it somewhere in the middle?
The reason I'm asking about this is because the base % stats given by the tier 1 items seem like really good value. A 500 soul item gives +6% Weapon Damage, whereas a 1250 soul item gives 10% Weapon Damage. I'm trying to figure out if the passives and the additional stats are better on the more expensive items, but it's difficult at first glance.
Hey, great question. I had the same thought when I just started playing. I'd say the answer is somewhere in the middle, and is very character dependent. Generally in lane you want to buy somewhere between 4-6 items that cost 500 (t1 items). Then, some characters like to rush some build-defining items. For example, as Wraith getting tesla bullets early is like getting maelstrom in Dota - speeds up your farm a lot, so you try to get it early. It's hard to give a definite answer. @@Deathy Thanks a whole bunch! I joined your server, I think you really know what you're talking about and you're clearly a high skill player with the lobbies you're in :)
theres three possibilities when a lane creep dies 1) it dies without recent interaction from a player (eg from other creeps or a tower) - no souls are generated, no orb. 2) a player shoots or uses abilities to last hit the creep - the player gets half the souls from the creep, and half are put into the orb that can potentially be denied (later on -all- the souls go in the orb) 3) the player melees the creep to last hit it - the full soul value is given to players on their team, no orb spawns meleeing is ideal in a vacuum to not allow the chance to be denied, but the risk associated with it is the time it affords your lane opponent to harass you if you're too obvious and in their line of sight
re: soul sharing early on, I heard that everyone in range gets the same souls until 10 mins, and after 10 mins they get split between people in range, is that not the case? does it just always split the soul bounty evenly?
Not exactly the case. Soul sharing is always equal between people that are in range (range is around 50m I believe). If you have 2 people, they both get FULL value. So total souls obtained with two people will be around 160 (80 each). If you have 3 people, you're not getting full value each. So you'll usually get 40 each, meaning you'll get a total of 120 souls. Basically, being more than 2 people in a lane is always bad for farming purposes :)
"creeps" refers to the troopers (the units in the lane). Hitting them is either shooting them or using your melee attack. Hopefully that clears things up
Just a not about the ganking early tip. Souls are only split after 10min, before that everyone gets the full amount, so if it's early enough it isn't a big deal, but later it can be griefing to hang out in a trilane
You're currently my favourite Deadlock youtuber, please keep making content!
Ditto
Learned a few things I wasn't aware of, such as the 3-person per lane souls reduction! Good stuff to know. Thank you!
I usually win the lane, but suck mid and late game. Enemy heroes have so much damage, no clue when I should jungle, no clue how to do Roshan
Sounds like this is a popular request - I'll make a video on that tomorrow :)

A good rule for midboss is to just hit it when you're vaguely nearby and 3-4 enemies just died all at once in a teamfight
Loving your deadlock content, keep up the great stuff mayne
Thanks, appreciate it
Solid advice from one of the best Deadlock players around
Enjoy the short snd sweet explanations. enough to get a good understanding of the tip but not so much as to drag out the video, thanks!!
Actually helpful, ive been brawling and losing and I put this into practice and won my lane the next 3 games
Fantastic video, going to be linking this to all the criminals I have to lane with in my games. Cheers.
shroud is that you?
love this content, anything to help new players is a blessing
For sure! Happy to help :D

I'd like to see a video about how and when to gank/teamfight/split push.

Where can I check soul sharing? OIs there a data about it do I need to experiment?
What lash build do you usually use
Can you also do a video on how to take fights? Like when you’re about to shoot someone in like a 1v1 or in a team fight?

at 1:30 why did you go to lane with half hp instead of building a sustain item or going base ? isnt that way too optimistic? , i dont get it
This hp creeps heal a lot but he's also p4ob not high elo. Best play was to bas3 and heal and pick up 2 items.
the deny system seems super confusing to me. do the creeps always put out those little orbs when they die to an enemy?
Orbs from creeps come up when you last hit them with a weapon. If you melee them, the souls are immediately given to you.
theres three possibilities when a lane creep dies
1) it dies without recent interaction from a player (eg from other creeps or a tower) - no souls are generated, no orb.

you sound like shroud
How are yall playing already?
You can only get invited through friend invites
Got in the playtest really early, around May 22nd or so, through a friend
i can invite u whats ur steam friend code?
what does hitting creeps mean?
"creeps" refers to the troopers (the units in the lane). Hitting them is either shooting them or using your melee attack. Hopefully that clears things up
what are you recording this on?
Using OBS, it's a free recording/streaming software
I lose lane like every match lmao I feel bad for my teams
@@StephGoKrazy Feel free to check out my other video "top 5 reasons you are losing lane", and I hope that can help you :)
can some1 invite me? or can I get access without some1 else?
and yeah and yeah and yeah

I know it’s been 2 weeks but if you are more than 2 before min 10 it goes from duplicating to splitting as well
prioritizing shooting circles for 10 mins is yawn, if you have male reproductive organs you abandon the lane to 2v1 someone
said by someone with an anime pfp. i have to laugh
that is a good way to lose 2 lanes at the same time the only way to push towers is to nuke the creeps and attack the towers ignoring heroes
Go play ARAM
you can always play call of duty
