MOBA beginners like me definitely need videos like this! Well and simply explained so that you understand what's going on! I keep seeing people say "look at high MMR replays" but that's no use if you don't understand WHY the player is doing THAT, why he's going there now, etc. So thank you for the understandable video! If you haven't done it yet, an analysis of a whole match might be interesting :D

    • @lostporpoise8883

longtime moba players also need it because your goals are always different between games! league is what i’d call a pushing game and dota is about making a static lane for yourself, very very different execution of the same concept

@@lostporpoise8883 yup, I was losing all my lanes and couldn't understand why because in dota I'm good at laning. it's probably because I was avoiding pushing early and only shooting to CS thinking that like dota that last hitting under tower was a massive advantage but yeah he makes it clear why that's not the same in deadlock

You don't *have* to secure the souls (shoot the floating green ball). Once they float high enough, they'll automatically pop and you get the souls anyways. The problem of course is that if the opposing team shoots it first, it gets denied and they get it instead. So obviously if no one else is around, don't waste your time. Clear the wave and move on to the next one or neutrals.
If there are opposing heroes, though, you're still better off going for denies if they're available. If you both trade denies, you're even. If you get the deny and they don't, though, whether it's because of the automatic pop or because you get it after - then you just made an 80 soul swing.

      This is a good idea
Until the video is made tho
The short version of "what I should buy " is "it depends"
You can basically always buy extra stamina as one of your first three items, as that extra bar is good on everyone.
And you can also basically always grab some healing or regen item such as extra regen, healing rite, or recovery rounds
Beyond that tho, there isn't really an obvious answer on what to buy because there are often multiple correct answers, and those answers change by character and by lane

One thing coming from league (old league player though not modern) that I didn't really think about doing, is instantly buying when you can buy a 500 item in lane. In league since you have to back, you tend to not buy anything until something happens, or nothing happens after a while. But this will kinda change how I lane.

ty for the video - another advantage you gain when pushing enemies under tower is that you can hug your heal creep longer to gain heals while being relatively safe - perfect example around 16:30 when seven is low and just hugs the heal creep for three heals before being in danger

Frankly in Deadlock I do get the impression that shooting the other guy is your main goal. It seems like whoever wins lane is usually the one who blasts you the moment you're in LOS regardless of what else is happening. Also I've seen others insist that it's better to hold off on grabbing items immediately for that exact reason, if you stay you can just keep pressuring and make their life miserable until you've got like 2k and they only have 1.

    • @Schizug
      @Schizug  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Backing to buy can be dynamic and if you are solidly in power in the lane it's not always needed.
As long as the aggression on the opponent leads to farm, I'm all for it.

If you want to know how to win lane in deadlock I can save you 20+ min, last hit your souls and DENY the enemy creeps. Im sure it will be balanced at some point but rn if you can deny you will win lane. ive played games where the other person has killed me 2-3 times in lane off of a bad hero matchup, Ive focused on denies and I end up 2k above their NW. Dont worry ab kills in lane. Focus creeps, get ahead, farm jungle. You do this and if you dont have a disgusting lane you will be up 5k on them. I had an infernus go 0-4 in lane the other day, he went jungle for 10 minutes and was up 15k on his laner and nearly 10k above the next in the game.

I am (unfortunately) a long-time moba player, and I cannot emphasize enough how much early buys will influence your lane, especially since they are relatively quick to do. As soon as you have 500 soul, run back when you have time and spend it, as some of the most powerful early game upgrades only cost 500 soul.
The reasoning: The number of souls in your inventory DO NOTHING until they are spent. So even if you have 300000 more souls than your opponent, it doesn’t make you stronger until you actually spend them. A person with one item and 10 souls is stronger in a fight than a person with zero items and 10000 souls.

    Thanks for the guide!
However, one question - you provide here the details on how to get the advantage, but unless you're the best player in the game, eventually it'll go the other way.
So, what do you do if the enemy gets more souls early on? They could be better at damaging you, and faster at killing your minions than you are to get even more souls.
How do you come back from this, stop the steamroll?
Another (kinda silly) question - since apparently you don't have to destroy every building on every lane to destroy the enemy base, why isn't the strategy just 6 stacking on one lane until you win?

People really need to be told they're allowed to go back to base to heal. I see too many people linger with low health not able to farm or heal safely and think "this is their first moba". Don't risk being low health trying to farm. Go back to base to heal.
For example during that Seven gameplay they kill the pocket who was low. His teammate pushed while he was low and died, he couldn't do anything while they pushed because he was low, and then he died. If he had gone back he could have maybe been back in time to stall them in their push, but at least he wouldn't have given them a kill.

like I don't want to pick a midlaner and end up in adc - i didn't see anything that indicated a character is lane specific or should double up in a lane.
I did see that there tank-ier and squish-ier characters but I'm not confident in if there are specific heroes for specific lanes or heros that will do better one lane versus the other.

Schizug can probably give a more difinitive answer but I'll say here in case: No, there r no specific "roles" per say at least not to the extent of other mobas. The only thing I would worry about is: do I want a Duos lane or Solo lane. Some heroes r better at solo by being tankier/high dps others better at support so duos might prefered or 2 heroes just have good ability synergy etc. But everyone can and will sometimes have b at least prepared to solo at some point, especially with the many builds u can make and how easy it is to switch lanes compared to slower paced mobas

Of note, shooting the floating soul doesn't increase the soul gain, and isn't necessary especially if it forces you to reload more, its strictly an anti soul stealing mechanic

yea lol rough to stumble over that small bit of info immediately, brings in to question how much game knowledge this guy actually has. For those wondering, the souls auto collect after a few seconds, the shooting is purely for denial or denying a denial
