    THEY never wanted a movie about 2pac Shakur to be successful because of the deep history involved in his last name. A high budget film where the Panthers are depicted in a positive and uplifting light? Come on now. It wouldn't matter whom directed it, how accurate it was, or even if the family entirely approved of it. No matter if you liked it or not, It's sad to see so many angry PAC fans play right into their hands.

    I'm a long time Pac fan, been one since Me Against the World dropped. Unfortunately, this movie is NOT worthy of its subject. Pac is the greatest rapper of all time, and one of the most complex and iconic figures in American pop culture. He deserved a much better biopic than this. There are many flaws to this film, but Ill share with you three of them.
    Firstly, the story was not fleshed out at all, especially the first half. It rushes through the scenes and we get so little background as to how and why Pac became interested in rap, much less how he became a rapper. So much is glossed over so quickly that his story just doesn't get a chance to develop itself or its characters, to the point where you don't even care about them or connect with them on any level. Some of the key figures in Pac's life are completely omitted from the film ENTIRELY. If you are a long time fan of Pac, you will see nothing new here. It's like a Wikipedia biopic.
    Secondly, the second half of the film is slightly better, but suffers from the same problem. Mostly because the story is already so underdeveloped, but the beef with Biggie and the whole east/west feud was a huge part of Pac's life in during his time on Death Row, and its treated as a mere footnote here.
    But the worst part of the movie, and this is probably the most unforgiveable, was the ending.......Pac's death is treated so nonchalantly. There is no emotion or dramatization in the scene at all (partially because of the problems I explained above), but also because of the way the scene is filmed. He basically gets shot, and the movie ends there. There is NO hospital footage, no news casts talking about him fighting for his life, no footage of fans gathering, and the hip hop world reacting. Lastly, the gospel music playing during the scene, is terrible and makes you feel no emotion. When Eazy died in SOC, I felt emotion and that something tragic just happened, but I didn't get that feeling here with Pac's death at all. Which is a shame, because Pac's death was EXTREMELY tragic.
    This movie needed to be at least an hour to an hour and half longer to flesh out the story and develop the characters, but I'm not sure that would even be enough to save it from all its other flaws, which I won't go into here because this post is already very long.
    PAC DESERVED SO MUCH MORE THAN THIS. Straight Outta Compton and Malcolm X (1992) are OUTSTANDING biopics. Pac's is not close to these, yet it should be.
    I give this movie a 5/10. It gets a few points because some of the scenes were pretty good, the acting was decent (not great - with the exception of the actress who played Afeni Shakur - she fucking nailed that role!, but not horrible either), nostalgia, and the music. But that is about all I can merit it.
    And before all you youngsters get mad at me and call me a hater, let me just say, I'm 39 years old and was bumping Me Against the World, All Eyez On Me, and Makaveli like clockwork when you kids were still crawling (if you were even born yet). I have very high standards, and for someone as great, influential, and complex a figure as Pac was, you shouldn't have anything less when it comes to a biopic of him, and this film just does not deliver. Not even close.

      Tone Blue you've missed the point. Have your opinion, speak your mind, but if you are going to give credit to the BAD you think this movie has done you HAVE to give credit to the GOOD it's doing. 2 weeks before this premiere there wasn't this amount of dialogue circulating the legacy of 2Pac. 2 weeks ago there were younger heads that believed that 2pac was an artist they couldn't identify with and today they have a reference that didn't exist in a movie form for them to now breakdown. Celebrate the fact that the same man they attempted to tear down when he was alive, is now the same man they can't tear down 21 years later after his death even when this movie surfaced.

    • @ToneFury
      @ToneFury 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Curtiss King TV there were better breakdowns of pacs life from documentaries..the movie provided the least amount of info from anything I've ever seen on pac..how they gonna film a movie about pac in downtown atlanta lol? i wouldn't say the movie totally sucked,but after it taking so long to FINALLY come to light,i definitely expected better..i would never tell anyone to NOT go see it though

    I appreciate the positivity and understand the opposing views on this video. At the end of the day I'm grateful that y'all are this vocal about the legend I grew up praying people would never forget. I knew 10 years ago when they discussed the possibility of this movie that there was no way it would be perfect. However the die hard fan in me is glad that it happened. You don't like how they represented him? Discuss the legacy you want people to remember while the conversation is a hot topic and educate the people.

    The movie was actually good and inspired me even more than it should have. I am a 2Pac fan and I'm still learning things about PAC and was the only nigga besides my bro singing all the songs in the theater. I'm a old soul so I definitely just vibe with the old school and soulful things along with party shit. The movie is a must see and yes I'm being biased about because Pac is one of my role models when it comes to my poetry and style.

  • @Baby_Suge
    @Baby_Suge 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I disagree!! As a real PAC fan it had to be perfect. I knew from the start that I'd would be impossible but PAC wouldn't want it any other way but perfect. Jada stated that there were lies about the movie and that ain't cool.

    I didn't listen to any interviews, back stories, reviews or rumors, I just went to see the movie on it's own merits. My opinion is that they did a way better / detailed job than the Notorious movie. I been listening to Pac since Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. & of course everything else like a real Hip-Hop fan & I can say they did a excellent job making a MOVIE on this man's life. If you didn't like it you probably don't like anything.

    Man preach!!!! People always got something negative to say. They don't make statues for critics! They don't want a Tupac movie, they want PAC to be raised from the dead and play as himself. The guy looks enough like PAC for the role. I've been seeing everybody say he doesn't. You can't clone nobody. Nobody is gonna look exactly like another person unless they're twins. and no ones entire life story with every detail is ever put into an hour or two hour movie. That's unrealistic.

    straight outta Compton was full of inaccuracies but y'all didn't shit on it like this y'all jumped on the bandwagon of the hype that was created for it.

      SOC got shitted on for multiple reasons - that controversial casting call, Eazy's portrayal, and things being left out but the end of the day, ppl still thought the movie was good. So you can't even compare cuz it sounds like really just aren't liking AEOM.

    Im sure its a great movie but if they knew they couldn't fit a whole lot in a 2 hour movie then why make it and if people don't like the movie then watch tupac resurrection . Thats it

      2 Pablo I think the movie served a purpose even higher than the creators of it even knew. All those inspired by the movie and all those angry at the movie will be inspired to do SOMETHING. Some will choose to be fueled by his legacy to do great things and others will choose to be angry about this movie and still do great things as a result.
