"Who took home the W?" This is what's wrong with a LOT of things today. NOBODY took a "W" or an "L" in this because it wasn't a competition. They're two adults. Two successful artists. They had an argument and then solved it. Not every situation in life is about winning or losing.

I agree with the first part, but it wasn't really an argument. It was Tyler expressing his opinion, the Eminem turning around and going "Fuck you faggot". Like that's just one sided beef, and tbh, really fucked up.

Em has always been a caring and loving person, he's wrote songs about his daughter and family his whole life. It just doesn't sell and doesn't get you noticed when you're wrote off because of how you look and have no money. His view has changed on a few things over time, but that's just what happens. You learn you have to forgive certain aspects of your life and channel the caring in another form. People wouldn't struggle if they didn't care and drugs are usually used to cope, but as you learn to get over your problems the resentment goes and so do the drugs. They are linked, but I believe the attitude change stops the drugs. Some people never get over stuff or don't give themselves time to and they don't quit.

Being honest and talking shit online are different. Being honest is privately telling the person it concerns as to try help them. What Tyler did was try boost his views by talking about Eminem on a social media platform and lower Em's sales by forcing his opinion on the public. Tyler got let off. Em's worst mistake was apologising to him, only a sell out more bothered about public opinion than what's right/wrong would be forced into that.

@realBIG1500 It's just not. Instead of trashing the album, Tyler could have messaged Em or his team personally and said try do this instead. Or even publicly said hey yo em I think that was slightly off, why not give this a try. But to say Em has Dre, 50 and many other closer than Tyler is to him, that actually know music and opinion matters, unlike Tyler, he doesn't even need friendly advice from him. It's like an out-of shape football fan saying a player is terrible because he didn't kick the ball with the foot the fans prefers. Like who gives a crap, Eminem's worst work is better than Tyler's best. Hell even if Em lost every one of his senses he'd still out rap and write Tyler.

I know for most of my life, I would immediately get defensive when receiving criticism and it wasnt until my mid 30s (I'm 42 now) that I learned to receive criticism with as much grace as I would receive praise.
It was one of the most difficult character flaws I've ever learned to overcome and I think that's because I had to be completely honest with myself and unlearn reactionary behavior that was deeply rooted in me from a young age.
Once I got there, I realized that the insight gained from criticism is just as valuable as insight gained from praise.
Once you apply that correction to the specific aspect being scrutinized, it will result in positive growth.
I think Tyler is such a big fan of Em and has so much respect for him that he didn't want to do him the disservice of giving him biased, dishonest feedback.
For me personally, I respect honesty and uncompromising integrity in someone's feedback or crtique; it's genuinely helpful and impactful for someone who strives toward positive growth.
Now, for someone like Eminem, I can only imagine that struggle, to learn and grow, amplified by 1000%.
The fact that he realized his mistake and acknowledged it is impressive and extremely uncommon for someone at the top of their profession.
Much respect for both Tyler the Creator and the G.O.A.T. Eminem.

When I go back and listen to his older stuff and compare it to his newer stuff, it's blatantly obvious that Eminem has grown as an artist and shows increased technical skill, wisdom, and intellectual nuance.
When you're, not only the best at what you do, but appear to be superhuman at times, people will try to find flaws that may or may not exist; either out of jealousy or inability to comprehend.

Furthermore, he said it on an open platform. Cuz like Jay Z. It’s hard to contact the main man. So he put it where it would easily be seen by Eminem. And figured since Em has that idgaf attitude. He would draw from the comment what Tyler meant and not take offence to it
Eminem then TOOK OFFENCE to it and dissed him up and down on a song

Oh you THINK THAT’S the issue people had with Revival?😂😂😂 oooooh buddy buddy BUDDY! That ain’t it chief
The reason it’s hated on is due to the PRODUCTION. Which, in turn, severely affected Eminem’s lyrics. Was the message there? Yes. However, due to Eminem playing off what he got from the terrible production and mixing, people couldn’t hear the message
And at that point, it doesn’t matter what he was saying. Cuz to anyone outside of Eminem’s fan base, it’s UNLISTENABLE
Nobody complained about Eminem attacking social issues
In fact he should do that MORE. The problem was the production which in turn affected the lyrics. Em writes not only to be complex, but to play off the feeling he gets FROM the beats
If you rap over terrible production, what do you think happens to the lyricism when you’re playing off of that?

@ANTI aka Kalamite It seems that was the issue FOR YOU. No matter what you try to say it doesn't change the fact that all music is SUBJECTIVE.
If you're the kind of person that values production over substance that's fine. But there are just as many people out there who will hear a song and think it's amazing just due to the message alone.
Some are lyrics people, some are musical people, and some are both. It's why 3 people can all listen to the same song and end up having 3 wildly differing opinions about it. It's why ANY song, we'll use Miley Cyrus' 'Wrexking Ball' as an example, can make one person break down into tears feeling It's the greatest song ever written, while at the same time you might hear nothing but pure trash.
Unless you're a literal child, and if you are then no offense (but also go tf to bed), then you should have learned this by now. Nobody thinks it's cool to be a music snob my dude. I mean when you break it down it's hilarious that you think YOU, a random person with absolutely ZERO SUCCESS in the music industry, knows more about how someone else's music should've been produced & mixed than one of the most talented & successful artists of all time, who's also working with some of the talented producers & engineers in the game.
Nah, it's makes way more sense that they didn't know what they were doing but YOU do lmaooo.
So one question to you then: if you're the one who's right about all that's wrong with the album, then tell me logically how, according to you, all of the producers & engineers on the album were somehow able to all "fail" in turning out great music? Because going by your logic, these people who are in the very top of their fields, somehow ALL failed to notice that the work they were doing was just trash? Or does it seem much, much more likely that music is simply subjective? 🤔

I have always loved Eminem's music, regardless of all drama about bad albums and whatever, he has definitely been a source of inspiration for the music that I create, I have enough self restraint to make the choice that the world doesn't need negative music and I don't want to give the impression that I'm a bad person for the dark subject matter in some of my tracks but I need to say that if it wasn't for Eminem's music that I wouldn't have been able to express what goes on in my head, but those tracks I keep private and I don't share them with the world, for example, I don't post them on soundcloud or any sort of social media, whether that's youtube, or any other outlets like that, just because I don't want to give a bad example of who I am or what I believe in.

  • @MyAsiz
    @MyAsiz ปีที่แล้ว +6

Well, Eminem never apologised for nothing to noone. What he said in that interview with Sway was that he was angry for what Tyler has been saying against Eminem and that album, and since he never expected Tyler to make fun of Eminem's work, he was in dilemma. Hence, he said what he said. Infact, Em has always praised Tyler for his creativity and work since the beginning. He didn't like/wanted spiting bars against Tyler, but had to do what he did in that song because of Tyler's double role and standard.
He never apologised, nor he said SORRY. He just made it clear why he replied Tyler in his song. That's it !

The biggest issue EM has with Tyler wasn't that he clowned the album but the fact that 2 weeks before it dropped Eminem invited multiple people he respected to Dr Dres house/studio for a listening party. Tyler & Earl both arrived, The album started playing front to back & Tyler & Earl both told him & Dre they thought it was dope. So then the album drops & Tyler tweets that & then Earl does but when he was in the same room listening he was going crazy about it being dope as fuck. It came off as super 2 faced to Eminem & Dre because when EM & Dre invited you over it was because they respect ya ear for music & you pull some wild shit like that it just wasn't cool at all ....

Gotta really appreciate this. The way Tyler reacted to Eminem dissing him was like water off a duck's back, and Em isn't so much sorry about what he called Tyler but rather that he dissed him out of frustration rather than a real reason.

  • @JackPelaFox

Em was my go to MC when I was a teenager. Like 24/7 Em & D12 albums on repeat.
Then I guess growing older you start to realize that he's the god of techniques but his content is mid. Even when he tries the social political stuff, it never hits you like a Kendrick or J Cole track would.
I still enjoy a good bar by bar breakdown of any new song Marshall drops, but that's all I listen to... Just one time for the "wow" and then move on to anything else 🤷🏻‍♂️😔
I don't think Em needs to do it differently. I think his fan base just grew older and might not be too much into his style no more. And teenagers these days are not into Eminem at all 😥

If Tyler really respected Em as a friend, he would have just told him in privately when they hung out. Not make a huge announcement to the world. He had to have known Em was going to say something eventually. Isn’t that one of the reasons why Em was on of Tyler’s Idols? Because Em wouldn’t hold back towards shit? Em is only at fault in a lot of peoples eye’s because the times are different. If we went back 20 years ago and Em said some of the shit he was saying now, people would eat it up. I’m not on anyone’s side, but I feel like saying that should be a no brainer…. 😟

I liked some of the songs on Revival because they were human as fuck. It's easier to appreciate the artistry in a project without the bias goggles of being a long-time super-fan used to one style. Anyone who hated Walk on Water either isn't an artist and can't relate ipso facto isn't the target audience for it, or is an artist but a narsisistic one. In a profession, any artistic profession, audible or visual, if you don't believe you're the best you'll never be the best. If you don't understand the pressure that comes with, famous or not, then you don't need to be knocking that track. That track hit me HARD. I'm a visual artist by profession and I feel that impostor syndrome and blank-canvas syndrome and self-hatred every single day that I don't kill it with a new life-altering piece.
