Im a Construction Manager and came up through the trade as a Pipe Fitter. I hold NCCER 1,2,3 & 4 in pipe and have my plus. This is the first good pipe related TH-cam video I have seen related to our trade. I will make sure to share it with the new guys coming up I think your videos will benefit them. Keep up the good work.

Hi you guys are the bees knees i worked in the nuclear, offshore industry for 30 years this is the best video iv'e seen of how it is is done, btw we used to call wedges foxes,& we tacked bullets in the bevel instead ( the welders preferd it) of tacking in the butt, takes me back to wonderfull times.

As a Pipefitter with 8 years Journeyman and 1 year PF helper, we weren't as lucky to have these videos back then. We had to learn on the field as a PF helper. I just hope Fitter helpers really learn from this and actually practice this as a helper until they have it down right because I see alot of fake it till you make it wanna be Pipefitters out in the field that lie about how much they really know and put us real Pipefitters in a bind. Good luck green hands and pay close attention to this guy.

Great work. One thing ive learned about when youre tacking on the single 45.. its a lot easier to tack the 45 onto the next piece of pipe, you can just stand up the pipe and set the 45 on it and tack it.. then tack that onto what you already have together..

The flange+straight pipe fitting is easier vertical. But hey, what works works. Also it is way better to weld connections right away if you need the fit to be 100% level, since it ALWAYS pulls a little bit. But that is up to the client.

They are good welders and pipes, the advantages of today is that there are already couplets already manufactured of different grades and nothing else you have to put them and level, before the good pipes had to manufacture all the tubes with their respective degrees and reductions from higher to lower, they made the strokes, and templates, do not say the flanges, also I had to manufacture for hundreds of flanges I was welder and structurist cordial greetings atte Jesus

I've had jobs in places with sensitive equipment where they can't have junk built up inside a pipe. Honestly tig is overkill and way more expensive. If you want to win a few of those jobs it's probably better to mig the root and flux the fill and cap. Much faster and cost effective. Yes some plans call for tig. Many times you can talk to the engineer in charge and ask if another process is acceptable.
