This video saved me a lot of work. Years ago I replaced the motor in the door lock mechanism of my 2011 Tacoma. Sometime after I noticed the key no longer worked and I had planned to fix it "someday" but kept putting it off. With the shutdown for the virus, the truck sat unused for a month or more. I found out the battery was dead and the fob no longer worked. I connected my battery charger to the battery cable at the starter and was able to unlock the car. I started getting ready to go through the process of removing the actuator and in looking for a vide to refresh my memory I found yours. When you removed the button and tumbler I realized I had not done that or don't remember doing so. I pulled it out and indexed it properly and the problem was fixed with only one screw to do the job. Thank you.
Great video for some, but for your next video, have some explanation of what you're doing and why. The only valuable how-to videos are set for people that are "color by numbers".

I have an 05 dbl can that the driver side lock button will not lock the doors but it will unlock them. Any ideas why it will not lock them? Passenger side button works fine for locking and unlocking all doors. I am stumped.

I would guess without any testing it would be the master door lock switch.
How much did you pay for the new part?
