How to Protect Your Honda Civic Engine from Overheating
youtube.com/@con_Auto
When you run the A/c at idle for long periods of time it can cause your #thermostat not to open. eventually this can cause your engine to #overheat. To prevent this from happening it is a good idea to replace the thermostat and check your coolant levels often. this tutorial will show you how to replace your thermostat so you can go back to idling your engine needlessly.

Diagnose And Replace A Door Lock Actuator ( Toyota Tacoma )
So after cylinder one is done i rotate the crank 90⁰ and move on to cylinder 3 and so on?
Yes. Check that both cam lobes are up firing order is 1-3-4-2
@@con_Auto Thanks!
Excellent video. Thank you for getting to the point.
Spark plug
When you said, “I’ll do the rest of the engine” what did you have to do? Did you adjust cylinder 3 in the same top dead center as cylinder 1? Did you spin the cam gear 90 degrees more to do each of the other three? Those are the important details I was hoping to learn.
Yes I did number 1 as an example and then rotate 90 degrees for the next cylinder. And so on
Question ...When Your Van broke Down ,Did it Break Any other Internal Parts Besides The Timing Belt ,I was Told That Hondas ,on That Type of MOtor ,When You Are Driving IT And The Timing Belt Breaks ,it Will Damage Other Internal Parts ,Like The Valves and Pistons .I Have A 2016 Honda Odyssey With a Timing Belt Tensioner Making A Loud NOise and Its Not Supposed TO BE Driven ,is That True ?

Hey can you help with a video on how to open the door my latch won’t open and door is stuck ! I don’t know if i need to the the motor or something with the latch i have a 2018 odyssey touring!
Hey buddy I don't know how to message you but however I was going to see if you would have ever replace the sunroof motor in this car? I'm trying to get the headliner down in the front and I can't get it down because the two lights and the sunroof operator in the front will not pop down after I take out the two Phillips screws I'm stuck at this point by the way I figured out all the motors that operate the windows add this car have three screws mounting the motor to the regulator Honda did not put any threadlocker on these little bolts and they have caused a problem I have took all my window regulators out of all the windows on this van just like this one and put those three screws back in with threadlocker and torque them down and they all work perfectly now. I'm trying to get to the sunroof one because it melts the motor of the same way and I can't get the headliner down.
In the front
You need to remove the overhead handles and the sunvisors for the headliner to come down. Be careful as the headliner can easily become creased. Let me know if this helps you out.
Will do the problem I'm having is getting the light s and switches in the middle to coome down after I take out the two Phillips screws I'm stuck there I thought maybe I would be able to get a visual on the motor from there
@@jerryfloyd2904 have you removed the cover for the lights? There should be screws under there
I'll give it a try I just hope the whole entire headliner doesn't have to come down lol
On which miles or kilometers happened that issue ?
This happens after about 80k-100k miles.
Hello, I'm planning to do it on my 2013 Accord. I have few questions if you can answer 1. Is there anyway I could turn cam other than using the wheel. 2. Can you share any guide how to allign the cam after the 1st cylinder for 3,4 2nd? Thanks
The engine is best to be rotated through the fender line Turning the crank. Set engine to tdc and rotate 90 degrees. Each 90 degrees is tdc for next cylinder in firing order Hope that helps
@@con_AutoNoted. Thank you very much.
@@con_Auto And one more thing, is there any torque specifications for the intake and exhaust nuts to be tightend?
@vimo1133 10lbft
@@con_Auto thank you......
Hi where can I get the valve flat head screwdriver tool u are using what’s it called or can I just use a regular flat head? TIA
You can use a regular flat head with a 10 mm wrench. The tool I am using is a Honda factory tool.
petroleum causing it to swell and deform
No just wear and tear.
What’s the torque spec, for replacing the bolts for valve cover then vanity cover? What if I break the one spiky bolt with the mushroom sticking out of the top?
I would say about 15ft lbs If you break that bolt then the high pressure fuel pump cover will not be able to be installed
I still prefer the mk2
good work, man
Going to do this tomorrow! Thanks!
Would you by chance know a part number that i can use to find that specific sensor?
I do not sorry
Heads up guys on the right side you have to loosen the rear evaporator housing to access the rear bolts
How do you know if u need to adjust the valve and what mileage usually this is recommended?thanks for the tutorial
Typically when an engine reaches 100k miles you should adjust the valves. Waiting to adjust the valves will cause random misfires.
At this time spark plugs replacement is a must also…thanks
Yes but replacing spark plugs is very easy
Hi had to re watch this again. When u grab the rockers and there’s still play. Is that mean the valve still need to be adjusted or it’s done already? I think u didn’t mention about that part at all
@leetos.4915 the rocker should still Have play even after adjusting the valve
Will it help my car start again
You will probably need a new battery if it’s not starting
Plz share from where this noise same noise I got
Under the rear seats. One bolt was loose
This is the only Earth Dreams valve inspection video I could find. I have a '15 CR-V and tried yesterday to do this. I couldn't get past disconnecting the plug on the AC compressor. It's extremely difficult to disconnect and for me it was impossible because of the limited access and the plug was "one of those" that just WILL NOT release. The project turned into a spark plug replacement only. I am loathe to the idea of paying someone to do this job because I don't trust "pros" to do a job right, like actually waiting for a cold engine and actually performing the inspection. I've just seen too many times when they can't even do an oil change right. I may cut the AC wires and add a connector to make the job possible for me. Sorry, just venting.
I have a '15 CR-V as well. Its a pain to get to the connector, but I would try using a longer flat head screw driver and it could help loosening the connector. I know after a couple swear words I was able to get it out.
@@FJBandFkMAGA Only a FEW swear words? I've tried some small tools as well. No luck yet. Cutting will be my last resort. Thanks for the tip!
@@stevemullens7937 you could remove the front grille to give more access. Also could try from down below.
I would also suggest trying to get the connector from the bottom. Personally cutting connectors is not an option but do what you need to do. I suggest pushing. The connector all the way in with a long screwdriver and then push the tab down with the same screwdriver and use either a pliers or someone with skinnier arms to pull the connector off.
@@con_Auto The only way I'll get to it from below is to remove the lower panel below the radiator and I haven't investigated how, but I'm pretty sure the rear bumper has to be removed to make that happen. That's how much I trust automotive engineers. They seem to design cars with a hatred for service personnel.
Excellent video. Easily understood the instructions and visuals. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Thank you I appreciate that!
It’s your blinker fluid that’s low Or cv axle
Whenever I need to replace this mount on my 2015 Accord I will refer back to this video. Thanks.
That’s awesome I appreciate that!
The little hole under the cvt fluid intake is normal? I'm refering to the little one just under the main cvt hole.
Yes it is a level check hole
FYI with the 2.0 NA engine, you only need to move the shift lever all the way to L. Then you won't have to remove the air box.
Excellent thank you clear information
Glad it was helpful!
I live in MN. Ordered the whole motor and cable assembly (had clips and everything) online from Jim White Honda out of Ohio. They are a legit Honda dealership but sold the part for a couple hundred less than the dealership near me. After tax and shipping it was $422. None of the auto stores near me had this exact part or even just an aftermarket equivalent. I verified with Honda per my VIN, the part number I need. There have been some recalls and I didn't want to buy someone's used crap recalled part. Solid instructions though. Helped a lot. Thanks! The job would have been a little over $2k at the dealership, so getting it done for less than 1/4 of that is nice. And really in about as much time since I don't have to mess around with dropping the car off and picking up some other time.
Glad you were able to fix it yourself! Thanks for the comment
Thanks for the video. After fixing mine, the door closes and stay closed but the back of the door won't close all the way except I push it in. Any advice ?
The door alignment may be off. I am not sure I haven’t had a problem like that before
Nice clear and concise thanks I’m gonna follow your vid for my project today.
Thank You hope everything goes well!
Thank you for this video. This is the only video I can find of a valve adjustment for this particular engine. Valve cover gasket change, yes but no valve adjustment. The vehicle I have is a 2016 CRV though but I’m sure it’s the same right?
Glad it helped. As for the valve adjustment clearance: .23mm intake .27mm exhaust Hope that helps
You saved me $1k or probably more. They wanted $200 just to look at it!
That’s why I made this channel to help people save money who are willing to do things on their own! Glad to hear! 👍
Any issue with a gasket or anything installing the new water pump? And what pump do you recommend?
No issues with the gasket they are rubber. I get the parts from my local dealer.
Thank you for the effort. Do you happened to know what is the purpose of the little squarish grommet gasket on the inner middle of the cover? It looks like it communicates with a port going down the block and it has an evacuation channel in the cover. Is this the EGR re-circulation channel ?
I am not sure next time I do a valve adjustment I’ll have to take note of it
it is not for EGR. there is no EGR system for this car. the squarish grommet is part of the PCV system.
Thank you for helping out. Fumes and blow-back gases from the crankcase are escaping true dedicated ports up toward the valve case cover, enter in the cavities of the cover from where are channeled back to the intake manifold true the PCV valve with the help of fresh air from the main air duct. I hope i got-it right to this point. The port visible at 7:06 it is covered by the mentioned grommet when the cover is mounted, at 7:20 another opening is visible toward the high pressure fuel pump housing, what is the purpose and function of that port?
What camera did u replace it with?
Factory oem camera
@@con_Auto thank you
Fantastic how to guide! Short and to the point. Thanks for putting this together. This was a real blessing to me out in the garage today!
Is the pcv what case that vacuum hose to cave in on itself?
Just over time it becomes either brittle or soft.
Nice video😂🎉
Thanks 😅
Thanks a lot just replace my sliding door motor in today great video again keep doing a good job on the videos
Glad to help!
You are the master at the whole deal you did a great job on the video and excellent thorough job on the walk through .that was definitely a 9.7. 👍the reason why a 9.7 is because my grandfather used to say you never give out a ten because that way they'll always do better next time.great job keep em coming.
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!
great video keep doing a good job -i need to replace mine soon
You can do it!
This video is too clean. Where's the struggle? We never see you take it off or put the new one on. It's totally misleading to dyers who will be thinking this is a breeze
I make videos because I hated wasting time watching people turn wrenches in the video and removing parts. The only thing I wanted to see was where the bolts I need to take off are and any tips I may need to know. I make the video that I would want to watch.
As a serious DIY'er I watch multiple videos for any procedure unless it's sometime simple. Always little tips and tricks to learn from others.
So when i di 1 an 3 should i turn it so cams are up on 4 an 2?
The cams won’t actually be up on 2 cylinders. One will be facing up the other one to the side. I do them according to firing order.
how often do you recommend replacing the water pump?
Every 100k miles
Have you been able to find where to order the actual motor and cable? Honda wants to charge me $1,200 to fix my door
The motor and cable are one piece. I got the part from my local honda dealer. Suggest using oem parts as they last longer and have no issues after installing.
What’s the part number?
Fantastic! I'm specializing in Honda sliding doors repair, but I do only 3rd and 4th gen (2005-2010 and 2011-2017) Now someone asked me to fix 2019. This video is very informative. Seems the job is even easier on this one comparing to 4th gen (3rd gen is the the worst). Now I need to figure out how to fix the cable motor. Thanks, man!
i have a quick question does this video apply for the 2010 model or is there different steps i have to take
@robertobracamontes8308 there are different steps for a 2010
@@con_Auto darn i have a job for one tomorrow i don’t see much information on it on youtube
@robertobracamontes8308 the procedure high level is similar but there are major differences
Love this video ❤❤❤
Thank you!
I have a 2002 Chevy Tracker & the input turbine sensor has went out but I can not find location to replace it. Can anyone show me a video or diagram of location of sensor is?
I do not have any info on Chevy products sorry. As well as the location of the sensor. But the voltage at the wires should be similar.
Good video with detailed instructions on adjustment. What is the brand and model of that torque wrench you used?
The torque wrench is snap on. Not sure of the model number.
i already replaced the input speed sensor but it still comes what should I do
Did you check the wires like in the video?
