    I always so enjoy watching your videos. In nearly 50 years of avid kayaking, this is quite probably the most elegant kayak I have ever seen. Your craftsmanship, attention to details, and exquisite rigging, is among the very best on our planet!

    Man, you gotta to be so precise at every single step! I don't think I could manage it. The slightest mistake will eventually compound and throw the whole thing off. And you wouldn't even know it until you are finished.

    • @NickSchade
      @NickSchade  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Generally, there are a lot of chances to double check your work before you are finished. While you do need to pay attention, it is just one-step-at-a-time until it's done.

    Hey Nick, I can’t see it in any of the other comments so I just had to congratulate you on, besides your obvious craftsmanship, how it particularly tickled me how you took the time to edit the video and soundtrack to it so that the staples fired and the tape ripped to the beat of the lovely music you added - Nice touch. Lovely stuff 😉🙌

    I love watching this creative endeavor. I have experimented with cutting strips, routing the cove and bead and building small test glue ups. I am still intimidated by the sheer length of time required and the risk of making some catastrophic error that would ruin all that work! I guess if you are not ready to climb mount everest then don't climb mount everest. I will get there eventually! still trying to find long lengths of cedar to avoid having to join smaller lengths. Perhaps you address that in one or more of your vids!

    • @NickSchade
      @NickSchade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The way to climb Mt Everest is to start at sea level and take a step up the beach, then take another step.
      The odds of catastrophic failure are minimal. The chances of making a mistake that requires you to think and do some problem solving are high. It is actually this kind of mistake that makes the project fun and worthwhile because that is where you really start to learn.

    • @NickSchade
      @NickSchade  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @jonlaughton7689

      You’re right Nick. I thought the deck would need to be cut to remove it but I take it that was never actually glued to the hull ?

    • @NickSchade
      @NickSchade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonlaughton7689 Correct. While all the other strips are glued together, I just don't glue between the first strip on the deck and the first on the hull. So, once the staples are pulled the deck or hull can just be lifted off.
      Amazing boring isn't it?
