This is how you do a hybrid sports car, use the electrification to add power AND efficiency. To my surprise, this 992.2 hybrid GTS also sounds much better than the previous 992.1 GTS, probably due to the 20% larger displacement. Seems like Porsche did a bang up job on this one.
People called me crazy but I’ve been saying that hybrids are going to save performance cars. Until full electric batteries get much smaller and much lighter, nothing beats ICE and the hybrid element just adds that extra juice to meet emissions
As a general rule this is probably the best way to use a hybrid system. A bigger turbocharger with an electric motor to fill in torque at lower rpm. I think people are already shying away from full electric cars. I work on homes in very wealthy neighborhoods and the 4 people that previously had electric cars have already sold or traded them off for regular gas cars. When I talked to them about it they said there were too many sacrifices
Great video. Love what you all do. Been watching since I was a kid. One grip: don’t play that back ground music again. There was a noise that kept being played that I was asking myself, was that the music or the electric engine noise? I caught it as you were talking about if the engineers deadened the electric engine sound. It was too regular to be engine, but it was very annoying. Go back and listen to the music and while you were on the track. Once you hear it you can’t unhear it. My constructive criticism. Keep up the great work!
I don't get the hate for electric and hybrid. Just different ways of powering your car with different pros and cons. it's like just do whatever works best for you
Porsche are fully woke climate hoax alarmists that hate ICE cars. They will go all EVs as soon as possible. That’s why this one costs $200,000 - they are pricing people out of the market to force them in to EVs.
Now Porsche is well aware that the majority of its fans love the look of and point out the real tachometer. It has a lovely indicator that sweeps the dial. Porsche thought, no, no more tachometer for you, here's a screen. Saving money? Selling more cars? Change for the sake of change? Whats the reason? Bizarre choice Porsche.
The reason is they are woke and want that space on the dash to tell you when you are “green enough” and when you are “destroying the planet.” It’s about using the most valuable space on the dashboard to deliver woke propaganda. They also said in their presentation to investors they are looking for new target customers - they called them “progressive youth” and “creative tech workers.” Their words not mine. So, they have abandoned us car guys just like the politicians behind all the climate hoax crap abandoned the middle class working man.
I saw a sticker on a basic white, silver plain wheels, black cloth top, rectangular exhausts I think the lights were upgraded, 143,000 grand ! , someone gave me that money my credit cards are paid off, can afford a way better vehicle, forget a Porsche
This car is wrong on three major accounts.... the middle tach should be analogue .. the start button should be gone, bring back the knob.. and hybrid??? no no no... I need to find me a used 2020-20204 992!
Imagine owning one of these frankencars after the warranty expires. The cost would be massive and with so much complexity, something would be wrong with it all the time. Porsche builds good cars - I’ve owned 5 of them in my life so far - but this thing is insane and will be very costly to purchase at $200,000 and then pay to operate/fix.
BOOOO!! You hear the election motor.. Taking you out of the"Porsche Experience".👎 911s actually worth considering IMHO.. Base, GT3 cars and the Turbo S
@@DP-jajano he’s not angry. Porsche just limits production of all their cars with a ice power plant so you can’t go buy one off the lot - and - you can’t even order one unless you are a special customer who has bought 5 or more Porsche models that are hard to sell - like Taycans. So, to get on the list to be able to buy one go buy 3 Taycans first then also pay a $30,000 market adjustment on top of the $200,000 msrp. Now, do you think he’s just angry when you understand the Porsche sales model?
So to get a mid level 911 now it’s $200,000 and a wait list for allocations that forces you to pay $50k over msrp and to have bought at least 1 EV beforehand. It’s the Rolex watch model - buy 10 crappy watches we can’t sell and we’ll let you buy one you actually want - or - since the Porsche market is controlled by speculators- others will get the cars, torture them with endless launches and donuts - make TH-cam videos and then sell them back to the dealers - who will the mark them up $40-80k over msrp for a car that’s used. Don’t believe me - go shop for a 911 turbo s and you find 4 new ones in the entire USA and all the rest are used with a few thousand miles on them selling for $50k over msrp - even 2023s are priced over list - FOR A YEAR OLD ABUSED CAR! That’s how Porsche runs its business. They are woke and only care about EV customers. They are gouging ice customers to pay for all the money they are losing on EVs.
Well, you are complaining about the heart of the US system: unlimited capitalism. It is the only Country I know of, that has this issue, that dealers are doing upmarks on the MSRP. It is the dealers, not Porsche, who does this.
"Hi Honey, I got a plug in Hybrid." Wow what did you get? "Ferrari 296..."

Emissions regs just need to go away, they're a joke.

Hybrid or no hybrid, it’s still a Porsche, no matter what.
Sounds like a lot more things to break imo!
look at how awesome those front lights are on this car.
Interesting that this is the 1st time the 911 has push button start
I remember when fuel injection was a big deal. This might as well be a spaceship.
Do you guys realize what a big development this is for Porsche?! 🤯
Right. Check out the Engineering Explained dive into the engine. Amazing in so many ways.
confusing. You mention Carerra and electric turbo. Does it have the electric turbo?

$120K for the base, damn!
It’s much more than that. The Euro car companies are ripping off ICE customers to cover their losses on EV and to punish us for not being woke enough.
In 2024 that’s $337,999.
Is that paint defect at @2:13 on a car I cant afford at the moment?
A base model hybrid for mpg, that is fun, and good on gas and handles like a dream that's affordable would be fun too.
Nice. But no manual.
your newfangled fancy drone footage and editing is making this old fogy dizzy
I hope this model doesn’t turn into a complex hot mess of diagnostic hells for any problems. That said it’s fast as hell.
Budget friendly 918

What if you are a company executive?
I can accept that is a hybrid! But i hope Porsche doesn’t screw up with perfection and go full electric!

The boxster and cayman are supposedly being canceled after 2025 for full electric versions.
5 channels posted Porsche videos haha did the embargo end or something
Push button start I had in a 53 Caddy, nothing new 😂
Doesn’t need the government mandated electric part.

Seriously, unlike previous cars featured on Motorweek, these hybrids are soulless AF.
Seriously? You must think a Mercury Topaz is invigorating.
I don’t get why they make those ugly from air intakes.
