    Randy, I believe this Range Rover would be good for content. I notice that a lot of people enjoy watching Land Rover/Range Rover or any other Euro car projects because they know that those cars have plenty of issues. It's also an enjoyment to see someone bring a Euro car back from the dead. I'd say challenge yourself to do the head gaskets, detail it and drive it for a while. Trust me someone will buy a fully sorted Range Rover at top dollar asking price. Fully sorted I think (in my opinion) you could get like $15k-$19k out of it.

    Randy,
    As a Land Rover tech, Doing head gaskets isnt the end of the world, and being a NA 5 liter, it makes it even easier. Some advise if you do pull the heads. Replace the timing chains, the Injector seals, and check the cylinder heads for straightness. When your going back together, replace the Crossover tubes, waterpump, and thermostat. The little hose that pushes into the waterpump, you push in the collar and it pulls out. Probably going to break though.

  • @tonysiliguri
    @tonysiliguri ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As a Land Rover enthusiast, I am yelling to shut it off. Bad coolant crossover pipe caused a coolant leak overheated the engine and blew out the head gaskets if not cracking the head. Hopefully, you did not totally finish her off. I'll watch the rest and see.

Supercharged versions have a 510-hp, supercharged V-8 that makes 461 pounds-feet of torque. Both engines drive a six-speed automatic transmission.

I poured half a can in my radiator (make sure the coolant is fresh and the engine is cold), well you know the rest of the procedure. Its been three weeks now and not a drop of coolant has leaked. Hopefully I'll get many more miles out of my paid for vehicle. Keep the great videos coming!

    It was probably struggling to start from all the coolant in the cylinders, once you’ve wound it over some many times and cleared all the coolant out of the cylinders into the exhaust the fuel was able to combust and fired up.

      Chances are with these engines if they need a head gasket 99% of the time it’s cause they were overheated, rarely do these overheat and not do extensive damage to the block because its aluminum. Usually just doing a head gasket doesn’t work you’ll need a new engine but there are times where it will work long as it wasn’t overheated too bad

    had a car with a head gasket get a pin hole from a coolant passage into #2 cylinder. wound up using both bars leaks and blue devil in it, took about a year of using the car but eventually the leaking stopped and I put 3 years and 15k miles on that car after that, before a moron side swiped it and totaled it. it would just make enough pressure to push coolant into the overflow, where I'd just blow it back into the system.

    Someone needs to design an easy swap out kit for an LS motor in these things. It would breathe more life into these things when that factory mill bites the dust. It would make these things not such a waste and give some a second life!

    This needs the Blue Devil treatment like you did to the 1991 Mercury Cougar you used to have that had a blown headgasket.

    This should be the NA 5.0 385Hp so it's not far off what the 4.2 supercharged had. I have a feeling considering it was out of petrol I do wonder if someone left running for ages at the auction and cooked it.

    It's always worth simply retorquing the head bolts to see if that fixes it.

    I think you need to check into the problem further because it may not be a head gasket could be an intake manifold leak

    I've heard they are wonderful trucks, people who have then, love them but, as long as they are under warranty.... They are known NOT to be reliable, and never to own one out of warranty.

    It’s not the Supercharged Range, it’s the regular 5.0L
