Outside of being full metal, I think the reason these models are special is the STN LCD display. The difference in clarity between the STN LCDs and the regular one is huge and it's hard to tell in a video but it person the difference is noticeable.
I have the one with the negative display, and also the gw-m5610bc (which is also negative), and the display is noticeably more readable on the metal beast.
I was so lusting after the steel bracelet one and then you brought the negative display out and I forgot all about the first! Both are great, but that negative display is special! Thank you Rob! Now I’m going to lose sleep!

I only have one G shock the s5600 carbon fibre strap square and since these came out been really tempted but not made the move yet. I think I will get the square with bracelet and hopefully the rubber is available separate so both options are available...on rubber it looks like it would be crazy comfortable

Exceptional quality.

I have the 5610 and love it. I absolutely love the stainless steel versions. But I just don't have $400-$500 to spend on watches and if I did im not sure I could justify it. But it's good to have a dream watch, and the fully stainless steel one is indeed that. Great video
Bought it for 390$. It is my most expensive watch but I absolutley love it. Also thought about selling all my other watches because I have the feel of not needing many more watches after getting the GMW. The only one on my list remaining is the Gold version of this one. Just plain awesome watches.

I just sold the B5000D, which I bought a year ago. I sold it for a few reasons 1. Either due to its weight or the bracelet, it could never sit right on my wrist. 2. Even though it has the best display, but the bling case made it feel a little cheap. 3. Not as comfortable as resin
I actually think the metal strap is more comfy. The regular DW-5600 rubberstrap pinch my skin too often, and leaves marks on the skin if been pinched for too long. I have to have the rubberstrap DW-5600 very loosely otherwise it wont work. The clasp also pinch skin. The metalbracelet just slides comfortable on my wrist. But the negative being that its much more heavy, and makes a presence on the wrist in that way. But hurts less.
I really love the look of the all steel one but couldn't justify $1149 NZD so got a stainless bezel and strap of Alibaba for just over a hundred bucks and upgraded my gw5600. Really pleased with it. I know it's not the same but unless you examine it 99 percent of people wouldn't know. Saved a thousand bucks.

Love them rob! I do have one(all steel) and love it! Only gripe is that they could've used sapphire crystal on these babies, for the money you pay swiss watches of similar price point use them. Also the caseback is too busy. Just a few specs would make it far more nicer! Oh well it's a Gshock wouldnt be one without all that busyness!
It would have been worth the price if they had implemented some more functions, like a ABC watch. As it currently stands, the consumer is paying a premium price for stainless steel and bluetooth. There are many nice watches you could buy at that price point, i.e like a Garmin watch which has a multitude of functions. Don't get me wrong I love G shock and even considering buying the gold one.
That's why I'm holding out on the 5000 series G-Shock's! Their just to basic with no real functions to get excited about plus being a outdoors guy I love ABC functions. I'll just keep wearing my Gshock GG-B100 muddy and my Rangeman.
Gmwb5000 will be suitable as base for a mod. Those 5600 came with resin inner body case, not suitable to mount metal bracelet for long period of time. This gmwb5000 give opportunity with stock strap and can easily install mod titanium, and stainless steel kits.

I’m waiting hopefully Casio will release a resin version of the gmw5000 series as I prefer the module on that series oppose to the other ones as some don’t have Bluetooth and the ones does doesn’t have the large screw back, which the gmw5000 have all.

@@borion7775 I thought bluetooth was a gimmick, too. When I got the GWB5600, I was surprised how useful it is. Being able to set world times, alarms and reminders via smartphone is so much easier than on the watch itself. I've even used the phone finder a few times, to my surprise. You could argue that you might as well use the smartphone for those features instead of the watch, but then, there would be no point using any watch at all, much less a G Shock. The new G Squad models take the bluetooth functions even further.
I have the GMWB5000-1 and love it. The negative display is up there for the most clear version Casio has ever made (along with the GPR-B1000 GPS G-Shock) and the large buttons make it the best Square. The only downside is I've scratched the band keeper to hell rather quickly thanks to my daily desk diving. Overall I feel it was $400 (which makes it my second most expensive watch) very well spent.

I am still deciding between the G-Shock GMWB5000G-1D which has positive display and with black case and black resin band and the GW5000. The GMWB5000G-1D cost $250 more than the GW5000 I was wondering if it's worth it to have the extra Bluetooth feature . Do you think the built quality is superior over the GW5000. Thank you Rob.
The bluetooth functions of the GMWB5000 and GWB5600 are very handy. So easy to set all your world times, alarms etc. I've even used the phone finder a couple of times. It's made me wary of buying any other G Shock without bluetooth connectivity.
Guys, mine is scratching pretty easily after 7 months now, the GMWB5000-1... how do yours behave? And I haven't been wearing it constantly, like... 2 months day by day in 7 months and have many other models from years ago which are looking like new... It's like the steel they used it's not rigid enough idk... like dough.
Is the underneath of the watch plastic? The black parts? On the 500 dollar one. I bought a wave septor for over a 150 once... it was labelled as all metal.. turned out to be half plastic the underneath of the case.

It’s the polarized film on the screen itself. It wouldn’t be switchable but theoretically you could change the film. You’d have to disassemble the watch.
Those information are all on internet or casio related websites.. but here you are: it’s mineral glass. It’s still scratched, but it’s best for tough-build. Sapphire is anti-scratch but it breaks easier than mineral glass

That’s a little bit of a bummer it only has mineral glass, I have a MTG and sometimes accidentally smack it on door strikes and stuff, still completely scratch free, my previous watch with the mineral glass is all scratched up.

It's encouraging that you say the negative display is one of Casio's most legible. The non-STN displays look very poor in terms of legibility.

I never really use the Bluetooth, but I do like new shiny models. So I always gravitate toward them.
The bluetooth functions of the GMWB5000 and GWB5600 are very handy. So easy to set all your world times, alarms etc. I've even used the phone finder a couple of times. It's made me wary of buying any other G Shock without bluetooth connectivity.
Guys, mine is scratching pretty easily after 7 months now, the GMWB5000-1... how do yours behave? And I haven't been wearing it constantly, like... 2 months day by day in 7 months and have many other models from years ago which are looking like new... It's like the steel they used it's not rigid enough idk... like dough.
The 5000-1 has more chrome than a 1958 Cadillac fender, I like the second version with the strap much better.

Is the underneath of the watch plastic? The black parts? On the 500 dollar one.
I bought a wave septor for over a 150 once... it was labelled as all metal.. turned out to be half plastic the underneath of the case.

It’s the polarized film on the screen itself. It wouldn’t be switchable but theoretically you could change the film. You’d have to disassemble the watch.

What is the glass/crystal made out of? Sapphire? I’d be worried about mine scratching.
Those information are all on internet or casio related websites.. but here you are: it’s mineral glass. It’s still scratched, but it’s best for tough-build. Sapphire is anti-scratch but it breaks easier than mineral glass

That’s a little bit of a bummer it only has mineral glass, I have a MTG and sometimes accidentally smack it on door strikes and stuff, still completely scratch free, my previous watch with the mineral glass is all scratched up.
Hehe yep because mineral glass is tough but not anti-scratch. You should try protecting film (like what they use for cellphones)
