10u Major Team. We busted about 10 CF/Zoas this past year. We had only one Cat composite (cat 8 model year) start to shark tooth @ 51 weeks. Marucci replaced it with a Cat 9 Comp drop 8. That thing has a few thousand swings on it, and it's still solid. No stress marks, spider webbing... Nothing. Was never a Cat fan before, but the Cat 9 Comp has made me a convert. Gonna be hard to beat, even with the Cat X.
The Hype is way overbuilt. Our hype has been rolled and has no less than 3k solid hits. It still look nearly new. I think it is more durable than a USSSA metal bat. We have the CAT 9 comp also. The Cat 9 Comp is hotter and has a bigger sweet spot. But the Hype will last generations

The barrel on the cat 9 is GIANT compared to the ADV. Also if you take a look at Blake's swing with both you can tell he was able to attack the zone with so much more consistency and most importantly, more confidence. Blake should be on the channel as he continues his baseball journey in life!
I like the Easton hype -5 because I am used to swinging a heavy bbcor bat so I can handle it. If you are not very strong though it will not benefit you. If you are 13 and looking to drop bombs it is very good.

Im a little surprised to see this to be honest. My son swings a 30 drop 8 (8u) and he smashes with it. Has no problem finding the barrel on it. And it doesnt seem to ring him up unless its a bad mishit. Obviously hes not near as strong as you guys, but he's hitting 160-165ft at high 50's, low 60's exit velocity. So a little surprised to see this. Ill have to revisit the cat9 again, but he chose the Hype over it when we did bat tests.
Dumb Question: What is the difference between the Cat 9 Connect and the Cat 9 Composite? All the ones I see say Connect on the barrel. I can't find one that says Composite.

Most underutilized thing in middle to high school sports is def the weight room, I hope this kid starts hitting it if he hasn’t already because he has a good swing, just needs some mass to go behind it
Tough to put on weight that young unless you are genetically gifted... could do more harm than good if you aren't careful. 16-18 you can start hitting the gym hard. He'll be fine, everyone has to grow into their own body
@@conehed1138 hitting the gym and lifting would help you get stronger at the current weight you’re at even if you didn’t gain any weight which would benefit a lot. A lot of those top tier high schoolers start young in the weight room
@@colterhinchey9266 again, just depends on your age and genetics. Yeah a lot of top tier guys are built different and can see huge strength gains from hitting the gym in their early teens. Most kids with normal hormonal development won't see much progress and are more likely to just hurt themselves from ego lifting.
