For those wondering what specifically caused some of the players to not qualify for GM, there are three "performance checks" that you have to pass for GM. Those checks are as follows:
1) At level 300, have score 12K (Grade 1) and time less than 4 minutes 15 seconds.
2) At level 500, have score 40K (Grade S4) and time less than 7 minutes
3) Finish level 999 with score above 126K and time less than 13 minutes 30 seconds. (S9 is 120K points, so you need 6K more, or the difference between S1 and S2)
The only player to NOT fail any of those checks is the one player that actually got GM.
JBROMS actually failed the first check (he was Grade 2 when crossing Level 300)
Party Man X had already failed the second check before he topped out (Grade S3 crossing level 500), and piepusher11 would also fail that check in the same way.

Well done to SPC, but it was so cool to watch piepusher11 spend so much time near the top, and manage to work down to a clear board. Very tense, very impressive, very entertaining.

16:35: I guess it's an homage/reference to the classic movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, where the "space baby" is meant to represent the next step in human evolution (or something like that). All backgrounds in the game looks like referencing something intelligence-related: chemical stuff, a brain, etc.

definitely one of my favorite runs this year! love me some TGM! here's hoping that home port materializes and maybe gets more people into this iteration of tetris.

Every time I watch someone play TGM, I'm astonished by how well these players can play Tetris THIS WELL at such fast speeds for so long. I really hope that TGM console port is revealed soon, I need to try these games out sometime.
