I am getting a used.., I think, 2019 Revolt.., listed as a Giant Revolt X Gravel Crusher. IDK why, but it seems all Revolt review videos are either of carbon fiber models, or 2022/2023 models. This video REALLY helped. Thank You!!!
The Aluminum frame is lighter that others of same material because the tubing is normal thickness at the joints and then tapers down thinner in the middle . This cuts out some frame weight and makes it almost as light as a full carbon frame.
A most informative and comprehensive review. I'm considering one of these bikes to help me get some exercise. Shame about the lack of pannier rack mounts but I imagine theres a solution out there somewhere. Best regards from the jolly old UK 🙂
@@based3765 Good question! Perhaps something like the Topeak Rear Tetrarack, or any rear rack that attaches to the seat stays and seat tube would be the best approach. Just a suggestion.
This year I bought a Giant Revolt Advanced 2, so the 2022 edition. Mine has the Tiagra-set, a one more expensive level over Sora, several things slightly better. I have the same tires as described in this video, they do their work fine on gravel and also on brick roads. But on tarmac/asphalt roads they are (relative) slow; I can go slightly faster with a touring bike. As it turns out these standard Giant Crosscut are rather heavy, so yes I'm thinking of replacing them.
@@aljohn6803 first with the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel-H 40mm. And after 1600km I replaced those with the Tufo Thundero HD 40 (front) and Tufo Speedero HD 40 (back). The Tufos now also already have 1600km. Both (Pirelli and Tufo) are way way ... way better then the Crosscut. But the Tufos are superior then the Pirellis in grip, lower rolling resistance, way cheaper, still thread and perform great after 1600km, and the Pirellis are a bit worn down and done.
I wish they’d sell a version with the aluminium frame but high end components and the carbon wheels. Sadly you need to go to carbon to get the good stuff. The aluminium frame is excellent and deserves the trick components.
Hey! You should be good to change stems, even a shock mount. It’s the seat post that is proprietary - nothing works except Giant Dfuse posts. Thanks for watching!
Got this bike a year ago and put in a ton of miles on it already. I used it about 80% for road riding. Which components would you upgrade first to make it more "road-worthy" riding?
Yep, this is more or less a dealer killer for me. Everything about the bike is seems solid component-wise, but a $1400 bike (more than that from a LBS) should come with hydraulic brakes.
I’m enjoying the bike so far th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
Nice review but when it starts with a sales pitch of your local Giant store and says nothing but positive things about the bike it doesn’t exactly feel impartial or neutral.
While our overall experience with Giant is definitely positive, we strive to be informational in our videos, as well as state the less than positive aspects in a nice way. We’re just nice people like that. 😉Thanks for watching!
Very detailed and fun to watch! Thank you 😊!
Thank you so much!

Yes! Good information! Thank you for watching.

Did you end up getting a revolt?
@@TroyandAndrea What would you recommend for lack of pannier rack mounts? How to bikepack this way?

Thanks for the regular guy review!!! All the #'s I'd wanna know

Any idea if the stem can be replace with a suspension stem? Some other reviewers mention giant stems are propitiatory..

Hi Raymund! The first thing I would upgrade would be the wheel set and tires. Also some nice clipless pedals.
Thanks so much for watching!
Great review.
Thanks so much Rob! I appreciate it.
Nice bike but it’s about time Shimano did hydraulic brakes for the Sora group even if it was an after market extra.
YES! I completely agree! Thanks for watching.

Mine came with a special adapter for the seat post which acts as an attachment point for panniers
Oh, nice! That would certainly solve the problem! Thanks for watching.
