Jimmy it was great getting to meet you and shake your hand! I'm gonna finish getting my buggy together and then I'm gonna build my wife a buggy. I have another bare frame and Volkswagen motor and transaxle. Some day we are gonna come back out!! Tell Brad it was great meeting him too!
Nothing jacks the adrenaline like finding a "Witches Eye" on the back of a dune when you are blasting in third gear! Well.....Unless it's finding another buggy headed right at you!
That motor seems to have more than enough power. You weren't even really giving her the beans. Good job Jimmy!

Mom used to run the Sand Bar at Glamis in the 80's . We caught a 54lb catfish in PaloVerde ! There's a place 45 minutes east of Fallon Nevada on 50 , last time I measured , 1400 feet high "with altimiter" , 2 miles long and a mile wide Sand Mountain . I would go in very cold or rainy weather to avoid crowds . Had same rail as yours with Capri 2000 with flat slides off a GSXR1100 jetted to run 4 cyl's like sled dogs ! Pretty cool , thanks for the ride !

It takes guts to run three or four abreast at 40 MPH; especially when you know half of the other drivers have never been in the dunes! I much prefer to run single file, follow the leader style, when in the larger dunes! That way you don't have to ask where the other people are! BTW: the sand looked perfect for VW's! just enough bite to letum rip!

There is something wrong with your front tires Jimmy, they aren't throwing sand like many of others I have seen, fabrats as an example. Great times were had, you have an amazing rail there. God bless😊😊😊

I'm very interested in the curvier engine did you use the trans from the curvier . & is the trans 4 speed or 5 my buggy is street drivin only . & it has won a Copple trophies . on the hwy 60 to 70 mph it is gutless looking at options' to fix that if some one is going 50 i need lots of room to pass them not always fun
That buggy is quick in first gear. Any idea what top speed is ? or do you need a race track and sticky tires .
No clue. Lol, the lack of suspension is the speed limiter. :-)
Certainty looked like fun. I assume you were running mostly 2nd & 3rd gear? Couldn't really get a feel of speed, lol. Tho in the seat has gotta be different! Definitely enjoyed the ride along! Thanx !

Wow! & It seemed you were just cruising, not rev'ed out. I would imagine, with that turbo, you had torque to burn with a little throttle response. Crazy! What an exceptional build, congrats !

I paid a grand for the complete roller, with paddles, i had the trans on the shelf, merlon gave me the engine, and the rest, probably another grand.
Heard you say that the gearing in your buggy is very tall. I think I heard you say that you never got out of 2nd gear. Are you planning on gearing the buggy down? Can you get lower gears for a VW trans axle?
Yes, i am looking into it currently, gearing it down 4 sure. :-)
