Question: so I joined an npc and I love my organization, but I know I want to join an nphc when I go to grad school. Do you think the process would be different?
sweetmodel2b it depends on the organization. I recommend checking the national website bc the rules change over time. I know for my sorority you have to denounce your letters of your current organization before you can apply. This wasn't always the case
sweetmodel2b Please know that even if you denounce your letters, there may be members in the grad chapter you're pursuing that will not want to accept those who have been members in an NPC chapter. Typically, this is not done. Members of the NPC, IFC, MGC, are social/general orgs like the NPHC. Usually only members of special interest orgs (service, band, academic, business, etc.) are accepted into NPHC org, at least from what I've seen. Our membership is for life, not just college so I suggest that you seek out alumni chapters of your NPC sorority. I know for a fact that some NPC members are greatly involved in alumni chapters after college.
TC G I understand it is not typically done and that members of an NPHC are in it for life...one of the reasons I want to be a member of one. There are not alum chapters of my current organization, you simply just go alum and there is no further contact. I have talked to numerous members of NPHC organizations who believe I would be able to do it because they are two different councils and because my reasons for wanting to join are pure. I am doing my research early to further understand and I have every interest in pursuing an NPHC in grad school.
