The "guy on the left" is Kent McCord, probably most famous for playing Officer Jim Reed in Jack Webb's Dragnet spinoff, Adam-12. The bomber was played by Sonny Bono, of Sonny and Cher. 44:24 That is William Shatner, who palyed Capt. Kirk on the original Star Trek series, looking through the periscope, as the USS Enterprise, the ship he commanded in that show, passes.
And according to "people" on the day Shatner filmed that scene, the Special Effects people rigged a model of the Enterprise to fly by the scope so he could actually see the Enterprise fly by.
One day at work i jokingly asked for a complete list of everyone who has seen The Sound Of Music more then 4 times. Amanda then told me she had seen it more then 4 times. So there is one person at work who seen it more then 4 times short list.
When they used the Star Wars crawl at the beginning, I half-expected Spock from Star trek to show up somewhere in the movie. But no, William Shatner "Captain Kirk" shows up with a straight face going full nautical, using a submarine periscope in Space to spot the USS Enterprise. lol
Coby's sarcastic reaction to "premature ejection" was laugh-out-loud funny (She even improvised a companion piece: "He's coming through the window! He's coming through the window! He's coming through the window!") Plus, we now know that Cobes can cross her eyes and is even more talented than previously thought (I can't and end up just looking at my nose.)
Thanks for reacting to this masterpiece! It drives me mad that so many reactors totally ignore this one as it has a lesser IMDB rating or isn't as famous as the first one. I think this one comes pretty close to the first one. And both are in my TOP10 comedies for sure.
Haig was Secretary of State under President Reagan. When Reagan was shot and in the hospital Haig was notorious for telling the press “meanwhile I am under control.” He seemed to forget we still had a vice-president.

I really like this movie, especially William Shatner. He loves to play comedy and is great at it. "I want a trench dug around the base. Fill it with gasoline!" That's my first proposal when anyone asks me what to do. Gives me time to think.
I think that's a reference to a story, whose name I can't recall, about a Western plantation owner battling a tidal wave of army ants somewhere in Africa (possibly South America? Lots of colonial overtones, anyway. Kinda "Heart of Darkness").
OMG I'm so stoked that you do these films! They're 40+ years old and still hold up as goofy non-sense Jr High type type humor !! You've earned so many cool nerd points in my book again! LOL LOL!! Court scene is so, so epic!!
The truck that Striker jumped out of, at the airport had a bunch of green pods, in the back. That was in reference to the 1956 movie, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".
No one yet has mentioned that the *Jeopardy!* host at 39:03 is Art Fleming, who was the actual thing for many years. This movie came out just before the late, much-lamented Alex Trebek took up the role a generation now identifies him with. 🤑
I like this movie a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The scene in which everyone crowds around Ted as he talks to the bomber is a parody of a similar scene in Airport (1970), which I highly recommend.
Hello Coby!😊 The opening theme is from the original "Battlestar Galactica" TV series from the 70s. Coincidentally, Kent McCord (pilot on the left) starred in the failed spinoff "Galactica 1980". Lloyd Bridges (Steve McCroskey) returns who was a guest star in several episodes of the original "Battlestar Galactica". "The Right Stuff" (1983) was actually a box office bomb. The Russian newscaster (Leon Askin) played the recurring character General Burkhalter in the 60s TV show "Hogan's Heroes". Rip Torn looks real different younger. Great reactions to this goofy sequel, Coby!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I never understood why they cast Kent McCord as the grown up Boxey from the original Battlestar Galactica when his co star (Dick Van Dyke's son) looked exactly like the original child actor! McCord looked nothing like him
Not on the same level at the first, but William Shatner’s scenes are great. “I guess irony can be pretty ironic sometimes” is one of the best lines in the whole series.
That control room with the lights, one of those props was on the original Star Trek and on many movies up through 90s. It's the one with the red light bar.
@@stupidsmart-phone6911 Yep, it also appears in "Star Trek: Voyager" and I believe in "DS: 9". I always cheer when I see the thing. "The goverment has spent millions on this! It has to have a purpose!" :D
This came out around Christmas 1982 so William Shatner had two movie hits with this and STAR TREK II The Wrath of Khan in theaters and he just started his second hit TV Series T.J. Hooker so it was good times and he paid a lot of his bills he had due.
The scene where the two pilots sucked into space and "dancing together" is a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey. (Which itself is pioneering piece of film history; I HIGHLY recommend it. Just bear in mind that it's a very different film that what we're usually accustomed to.)
I couldn't see it on your small version but I watched it myself and noticed the Judge is the Actor who played Perry Mason in the TV series by the same name (1957-1966). It was very much like what Matlock with Andy Griffith would be. I also noticed when the guys were trying to shutdown the computer it said, "What are you doing Dave"?
11:48 The instant front page photo gag is hilarious, but there's another bit people always miss in this scene. There are pods in that truck like the ones in Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Don’t doubt yourself, Coby. That was Stephen Stucker playing both roles as Johnny Jacobs AND the Courtroom Clerk. When the pilot Peter Graves was gassed and the Mission Impossible theme came on, it brought back a lot of memories. Every episode of the Mission Impossible TV series started with Peter Graves and a classified tape recording self destructing, bursting into smoke with the theme music. You can see some of that on TH-cam. Pat Sajak as the Buffalo News Anchor? I didn’t know who he was at the time I saw the film in theater. The bomb guy, I grew up watching Sonny and Cher on TV! Dresden was a German City almost bombed out of existence with conventional bombs during WW II. William Shatner Captain Kirk finally given a chance just to be himself. Love it!!
So glad you liked it! A lot of people hate it! I mean yes a lot of the jokes are recycled from the first one, but it still has its own charm. And as a kid I remember waiting forever for them to do an Airplane III, but they never did. Also I hope by now you've noticed the part with the talking computer sending them to the sun and killing the crew members who tried to shut it off (and then seeing two of them dancing outside the window to "The Blue Danube") was a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey. And yes I love how William Shatner was in it and saw his own ship the Enterprise through the periscope. You really need to check out Star Trek if you haven't already by now.
I'm having a very hard time trying to focus on the movie reactions when the reactor is extremely beautiful! 😍 Coby must have forgotten her wings in heaven! 🪽🪽 She would be a very successful model.
Being a Prop Master/Set Designer on some films, I find I have to watch a movie or even TV show a number of times to get everything! Usually the first watching, I am looking at the sets and props to try and identify the every day things they were made out of and find any Easter Eggs like signage or posters in the background (something I have fun with). Then I watch it a second time for the dialog and acting and then a third time to get the story. AND looking at the comments, it looks like everybody missed Sandal Bergman, that starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Conan the Barbarian as well as other movies as the crewwoman that showed Shatner Ted Striker's "Record".
14:05 "Who's the guy on the left?" I just spotted him too. I recognize him from playing John Crichton's dad in Farscape. His name is Kent McCord. Never made it really big, but he's been doing TV for nearly 60 years now.
The bit with the co-pilots being blown out of the spacecraft, and music, is inspred by "2001: A Space Odyssey" - if you haven't watched it, you should!
43.30 a subtle Star Trek gag in the background, the prop with the red neon tubes the guy is fiddling with has been used in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Episodes of The Next Generation, Enterprise and Voyager. Its also been used often in other sci fi movies and shows so having it here feels like a nod to Trek fandom.
Interesting choice of words as in the original 2002 Christina Aguilera music video for her song, "Beautiful" there are two men kissing. But in the 1969 Peter Sellers' comedy film, "The Magic Christian", two male Boxers who were just about to fight, instead start to kiss each other. The crowd boos loudly as the Announcer says, "The crowd is sickened by the sight of no blood!" Also, Ringo Starr appeared in the film as a homeless guy who becomes rich man Seller's adopted son. Sellers character sets out to corrupt everyone with free money. He goes so far as to fill a large swimming pool full of money and human waste to show that people will do literally anything for money.
@@x_trio_3_po333 --Hm.. I haven't seen The Magic Christian, but I do remember the video for "Beautiful". Time moves on and what was taboo, often becomes accepted or the norm. I guess it's an eventual evolution. People feared homosexuality because they thought it was a threat. But in time, everyone realized it wasn't.
Julie Haggerty was also the mom in a great comedy called just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. The guy that you said looks familiar is Kent McCord, he's best known for playing a cop on a TV series called Adam-12. The pilot, Peter Graves was in the Mission Impossible TV series. The guy carrying the bomb is Sonny Bono who was one half of Sonny and Cher.
Robert Hayes once said the studio wanted to do "Airplane 3" but he turned it down because he didn't want to just be known as the guy from the Airplane movies.
Mr. Unger is played by Kent McCord from Adam-12, and Galactica 1980, and I’m sure there’s a lot of other stuff, seems like he was a TV fixture when I was a kid.
No Coby, you were definitely right, that was our guy.. In the original 'Airplane!', Stephen Stucker played 'Air Traffic Controller Johnny Henshaw-Jacobs', stealing the scenes & chewing on all of those memorable yet random throwaway lines strewn cleverly throughout the film.. And he is ALSO in this sequel, playing the roles of TWO characters: 'Jacobs' & 'Courtroom Clerk'.. Seeing how they called him Johnny in the first one & Jacobs in the 2nd, I think that was the same character, just going by his last name instead of his first.. Hope this made you feel like you weren't crazy after all, lol.. Also, since we are talking about Stephen Stucker, what a great character actor & just hilarious human being the man was.. The directors, whom he was good friends with, would ONLY give him the straight lines from the scenes he was in & then would basically let Stucker come up with his OWN off-the-wall responses to said lines, which shows just how much trust they had in Stephen & just how funny the guy must have truly been.. Sadly, the 'Airplane 'movies, 'The Kentucky Fried Movie' & 'Trading Places' were both some of Stucker's most successful films, but also some of his final films as well..🥺 Ild-1984 during the height of the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, Stephen both contracted & was diagnosed with, AIDS. He disclosed his condition to the public in 1985 & became one of the 1st celebrities to make such info public at the time.. He said he had had cancer symptoms as recentntly as 1977 & that he suspected he had contracted the disease from being a former intravenous drug user in the past. In April of 1986, Stucker succumbed to the disease at the young age of only 38 years old.. R.I.P. Stephen..Thank you for always making us laugh..& smile.. If you plan on watching Star Trek, then it is important to understand the dynamic between the 3 primary characters: Captian Kirk, Dr McCoy and Commander Spock. This means watching a handful of the more important episodes from the TV series. Then, and only then will you be ready for 'The Wrath of Khan'

And according to "people" on the day Shatner filmed that scene, the Special Effects people rigged a model of the Enterprise to fly by the scope so he could actually see the Enterprise fly by.
It is a rehash, but it is a rehash of one of the best comedies ever. And it has the most cosmic cameo of them all. ^^
But no, William Shatner "Captain Kirk" shows up with a straight face going full nautical, using a submarine periscope in Space to spot the USS Enterprise. lol
I think it’s hilarious Coby got all cute with her makeup and her teeth are blue.
The co-pilot is Kent McCord, who is Crichton's dad on Farscape. Been re-watching the 24 hour stream of that these last few days. :)
@@justinclloyd He also played Officer Jim Reed on the TV series Adam-12
He was also on Galactica 1980, which only lasted 1 season.
Wasn't he also in Predator 2?
@@Takeshi357 Yup. He's also in Return Of The Living Dead 3.
Pat Sajak at 34:36 is hilarious. So many cameos and one-liners in both these movies. Can't believe how young I was watching these movies.
I can't believe I never picked up on the "I can help you if you can't get it up" gag before.
Probably because it only makes sense later.
25:25 "Football play." _knowing wink and tongue click_
The level of astuteness on display by Coby in this video (as well as others)... _chef's kiss_
The Right Stuff is about the beginning of the space program and the first astronauts
It's kind of long but it's really good.
Alexander Haig was on the cover of Psycho Month. He was in Reagan's cabinet as Secretary of State.
Haig was Secretary of State under President Reagan. When Reagan was shot and in the hospital Haig was notorious for telling the press “meanwhile I am under control.” He seemed to forget we still had a vice-president.
@@wecontrolthevideo And a president pro tempore of the Senate, and a House Speaker, both of whom also precede the Secretary of State in the line of succession.
25:22 Football play😉 😂
Ever since I first watched this (decades ago) I can't walk up to automatic sliding doors without making that sound. 🤣❤
Your reaction to seeing Shatner's name in the credits was the funniest part of the video!
@@michaelccozens I had to read that in high school!
OMG I'm so stoked that you do these films! They're 40+ years old and still hold up as goofy non-sense Jr High type type humor !! You've earned so many cool nerd points in my book again! LOL LOL!! Court scene is so, so epic!!
Jack Jones " The Love Boat" 🎵 (R.I.P)..he once had his home "CreepyCrawled" by the Manson Family.
Watch " The Naked Gun " next . It's from the same people that did Airplane. Leslie Neilson stars in it. It's great !
One of the news reporters was Pat Sajak, former host of Wheel of Fortune.
Perry Mason slapping the witness was fantastic.
I like this one better. I know I'm in the minority on that though.
The pilot was in the original Mission Impossible. The computer is a reference to HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey. There are several references to this.
"I'm sorry, I don't do impressions, my training is in psychiatry." is one of my favorite comedy lines of all time.😂
Dean Wermer's hilarious.
11:48 The instant front page photo gag is hilarious, but there's another bit people always miss in this scene. There are pods in that truck like the ones in Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Shatner was also terrifying in Halloween
@@davejones993 not everyone will get that, but it's funny.
Love it!!
I'm so glad you're doing this! I love this one as much as the first one. Hardly anybody does react to it.
The confrontation with the bomber is from the movie Airport
The opening theme music is from "Battlestar Galactica".
And Battlestar Galactica came out in 1978. It was riding on the coat tails of the Star Wars success.
The "McCroskey" character (The Air traffic controller-also in the first movie) is the actor: Lloyd Bridges.
Father of Jeff Bridges and Beau Bridges.
25:21 “football play!” _confident, knowing wink at the camera_
That… that was a basketball play
I'll take a wild guess and say you watched this before you reacted to 2001: A Space Odessey for your new channel. 😄
I do like this sequel although they do steal a lot of the jokes from the original. William Shatner is funny as hell in it thought. Big thumbs up Coby
14:05 "Who's the guy on the left?" I just spotted him too. I recognize him from playing John Crichton's dad in Farscape. His name is Kent McCord. Never made it really big, but he's been doing TV for nearly 60 years now.
Are you kidding? He was one of the biggest TV stars in the early 70's when he played Officer Reed on Adam 12!
@@PhysicalMediaPreventsWea-bx1zm Before my time...
The co-pilot is Kent McCord who played officer Jim Reed in the TV series "Adam-12"
The moon base commander was William Shatner (Capt. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise in Star Trek) - he saw the Enterprise in the periscope.
5:06 -- While beautiful today.. You have to understand how shocking it was to see two men kiss on the big screen in 1982..
"Hes coming in the window, hes coming in the window, hes coming in the window" youre definitely getting demonstrated for that one.
The judge was Raymond Burr, TV's "Ironside" and "Perry Mason".
& now he's still mainly known for Airplane 1
He kinda is anyway
@@MrAitraining True. Other than this I only remember him in a couple of short lived TV shows and cheese wiz commercial.
Loved this reaction! William Shatner was the Star of the original Star Trek series...which you definitely should watch and react to Coby!
And for checking back in with me Cya Coby...❤✌🏻8
22:29 This is such a wonderfully conceived example of a double joke. The Japanese man who can understand English does a spit take when he hears Ted talk, then translates it to the Japanese man who can't understand English who then does another spit take!!!
I still say Shhh when ever I go through an automatic door lol.
Sony (...and Cher) as the bomber, Judge Perry Mason, Chuck Connors (The Rifleman). Loads of actors in here -
Good Lord, woman! Shatner was Capt. James T. Kirk! A man so great his very name is a curse word in Klingon. Who fought along side Abraham Lincoln, defeated a Greek god, personally punched at least one member of at least 95% of the races in the galaxy, and is single handedly responsible for increasing the population of known space.
And he was famous enough to be roasted by Comedy Central in 2006 (a year after Pamela Anderson was roasted). It was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy Award.
Yup, "Space Seed" is a must.
@sandman_says_runrunner4701 I would add: City on the Edge of Forever", "The Cage", "Tomorrow is Yesterday", " Trouble with Tribbles", "The Enterprise Incident"
@@Greybeardmedic "Amok Time", "The Enemy Within", "Balance of Terror", "The Galileo Seven", "The Devil in the Dark",...
My "Space Seed" reference is mainly in respect to need to watch before seeing "The Wrath of Khan". Personally, she should watch as many as she can as TOS is fantastic.
I'm surprised when anyone even notices this exists. I had a friend in high school who was obsessed this film and repeating all the lines. Anyway if you want to keep the Zucker and Abrahams thing going you should totally check out Top Secret! (1984) with Val Kilmer. I swear that is one of the top ten funniest movies of all time.
The priest with the magazine was the governor in "Benson." And Google "Joe Isuzu." While the "The Love Boat" theme was used as many of the actors were on TV's "The Love Boat."
The reason the Mission: Impossible theme is played is because Peter Graves (the pilot) was also in the old 60s/70s TV Mission: Impossible series. He played Jim Phelps (the character Jon Voight played). But the tv series Phelps wasnt the villain.
I love the HAL reference (2001 Space Odyssey )
Buck Murdoch is William Shatner. He was Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek which is the ship that we saw in the periscope.
I can't watch AIRPLANE and not watch AIRPLANE II next. It's the perfect double feature.
This sequel wasn't made by the same people, but they did a movie spoof around the same time called Top Secret and it's beyond hilarious. I almost found it funnier than Airplane: The Movie. It was Val Kilmer's first movie role. You have to react to it. I went to see it in theaters when I was 14 and my cousins and I conned my grandmother into taking us. The movie is top tier, but back then the funniest thing was the pissed off look my grandma had on her face.
I love your reactions. And your laugh is awesome. Glad you enjoyed it. Don't worry about missing anything, if you didn't grow up in the 80's a lot of stuff went over your head (see what I did there?) if you didn't live in that era. p.s. Cash is adorable too, although, I prefer checks.
The music they played over the Star Wars crawl was the Battlestar Galactica theme, a show that started the co-pilot.
Technically he was in the spinoff Galactica 1980.
The fastest "land" animal is a cheetah. Birds are also animals, and the Peregrine falcon can reach up to 240mph while diving through the air. I enjoyed the video!
