How'd she get it through security? What security? Back then, there was none. Even in 1996 when I took my first flight, security wasn't nearly as strict as it is now. It was a breeze to go through.
People no longer remember the times before 911 when you didn't have every inch of your person and belongings searched. There were metal detectors in most large airports, and that was it. You might be subject to a random check if you were flying to or from another country. Flying within the US, you could have anything imaginable in your pockets with zero worries about it.
0:20 InnaSoloTV: This movie was released to 1980. Things were VERY different back then. You had the DB Cooper hijacking in 71, where the plane was hijacked, it landed, the authorities gave him the money, and then it took off again (that would never happen now). Henry Hill (of Goodfellas fame) said that in the 70s when they were running low on cash, they would just go and rob the airport. You could practically drive up to the tarmac in those days! It was a completely different world.
It's a great example of how Airplane was written, it's a remake of Zero Hour (from the 50s) and the 'do you want a little whiskey ma'm/ certainly not.' is straight from it. Then they added the punchline. Watching Zero Hour after seeing Airplane is like watching a half made comedy beta test without the punchlines. It's very weird.
Back in the day before 9/11 you could carry just about any drug onto a plane. I carried weed (personal use) and cocaine (personal use) and me and my girl made it a real party up there back then. Good memories.
This whole movie is filled from start with the cab meter/parking/abortion joke and keeps re-filling as it goes. Surely I wouldn't believe it but I saw this back on VHS in the 80s at around 5yrs old. Oh we used to play outside until dark, drink from garden hoses, bike ramps/no pads, etc. y'all ever where cowboy boots holding a rope getting pulled around by a go-cart on pavement in winter? Bouncing isn't that difficult once youve gotten used to it.
" So, are the pixillated ones for the " snowflakes "because they would be so awfully offended and can't possibly be expected to watch such deviancy, whilst the ones that aren't pixillated are for us strong and individualistic viewers, who don't give a flying fuck who gets offended because we are living our life? This is probably my second favorite gag behind the two kids with the coffee.
Same!
Shirley you can’t be serious.
I also like the savagery of how Striker keeps accidentally making people kill themselves because his life story is so boring.😅
*Certainly not!*
@@TylerD288 Same! Totally unexpected. Short and brutal :D
This scene should be called “ bourbon and coke “ 🤣
HA CHAA! 🤪
Whiskey and bourbon aren't the same, but we get the gist.😂
Lol
Lol
@@windsorkid7069 Bourbon is a kind of whiskey. The joke still works.
One of my favorite jokes in the movie is pretty subtle it's "I can't tell you that, it's classified", makes me laugh every time
I love the old lady who says, "I speak jive."
What cracked me up the most, was the reactor who blurred her doing the two lines. 😂😂😂
this movie was gold from start to finish...

Exactly. I started flying way back in the '70's. It's like night and day.
Yep. Just walk onto the plane.
Probably was on the set.
So many great scenes in this movie
Guy: Would you like some whisky mamn?
Old lady: Certainly not!
*does lines*
Guy: ok then Sniffany 😂
Bloanne

Why snort 7up when you can snort Coke? 😅😅😅
My #1 scene in the movie. My jaw drops and I crack up every single time I see it.🤣
There was no airport security back then. That's why we had a rash of hijackings in the 70s.
Best joke in the movie is the propeller sound
I think the first girl's reaction around 9 seconds is the best. The look in her eyes... Priceless
I love awkward Ashleigh's reaction
She played it sooo well :D
That turn after "Certainly not" is everything :P
Remember, there was no pg-13 when this came out... lol
Absolutely. Here it s always pretty much under 10 on TV but thats all.
I remember when you could bring just about anything on a plane.
This movie continues to shine to this day
I'll take a little toot every now and again...lmao
2:23 - He does have a point.
She just took some from set!! My guy. You know!
The ones that know laugh a little uneasily and the twinkling. LOL

You could tell which reactors used to party ⛄️
This will always be my all time favorite comedy lol
Why would you want to be Wide in a crisis at 20000 feet? Always take the whiskey.
a woman with standards! 😊
Wait, I need to sample it to make sure it's primo!
I like june cleaver speaking jive
I forgot all about this scene. 🤣
The whiskey would help level you out 😂
You need to watch the whole movie and the sequel!
Ah....early 80's.
That was back in the 80s I watch the movie Airplane one and two I think it's so funny
Airport security wasn't like today.
How'd you get that on the plane? Well, see, before 2001... it was basically the wild west. Whole tubes of toothpaste and everything.
Pablo was king.
Shoot, mine is the slapping scene. The was just the best.
Me and granny could've partied, 12 or so years ago.
Can you please do the ending of arcane 2x6
This lady wild

Back then you could’ve brought the coke in the plane inside your pocket.
Back then, you could bring a monkey on board.

The last reactors (the 2 women) didn't look too surprised...hhhmmmm...wonder why....
