the only other games that had such an impact to my soul, were shadowhearts 1+2. now i am traumatized and depressed again too *stalaladespair* this whole story pushed xenoblade to from rank 3 to rank2 of my personal best stories in games of all time (for now)
The part of the game that I couldn't just stop at chapter 5 because I was not satisfied until I found some kind of resolution to WHATEVER THE HECK JUST HAPPENED. Seriously that entire 2-3 hours of fights/cutscenes were insane. Glad you've been enjoying it (at the cost of several tissue boxes)
Noah is such an amazing protagonist. He is essentially a priest or cleric within his culture. A pacifist and an elite warrior. And a man who wants to save the world by tearing it apart from the very core.
10/10 Peak! Would cry again. 😭 I usually predict every storyline because of how much I consume, but Xenoblade really manages to surprise me every time.
I came back to this vod bc I just finished this part on my replay of 3 today and i didn't see anyone point it out so I thought I should, as someone with a musical background. The variation of the offseeing tune at 3:49:31 is written almost explicitly to be highly ominous. Compared to the harmonizing of the Kevesi and Agnian tunes that Noah and Mio play, the overwhelming Agnian version has so many crunchy, ill-fitting tritones, half steps, and minor chords that it's almost designed to make you feel like something is missing and everything is wrong. This specific cutscene forced me pause the game and take 3 full uninterrupted weeks away from it to recover from the amount of damage it caused. The level of emotion packed into these sequential cutscenes goes far beyond almost every other piece of media i've experienced in scale and intensity. The composer of the OST is a true genius. on a lighter note, 5:49:51 unironically this decision took me longer to make than the pyra/mythra split in xc2............
Xenoblade OST always blows my mind at how detailed and smart like it's a masterpiece on its own ;_; + It also took me longer than Pyra/Mythra LOL. I like the short hair way more but I think the long hair fits better for the story? I do miss her short hair though, I'm hoping I can change it maybe post-game..
@@stalvods the way that I do the hair nowadays is to leave it long throughout the rest of the game, and then change it right before the final boss (there's an option to change her hairstyle in settings > game or smth) to me it symbolizes her respect for M, and then when she cuts her hair, she takes her life into her own hands, to move towards the future, which fits her personality
The song that plays during the prison scene hits so much harder when you actually listen to the lyrics and realize the song is written from N's perspective about M, a rare self aware moment where he realizes how badly he messed up. But 99% of the rest of the time, he's desperately coping to avoid thinking about that.
The battle theme for M is the most insane foreshadowing I’ve ever seen. Because M in her life had no connection to flutes and off seers. Only the Mio we follow in the game. And the fact that the game immediately has you fight N and the regular Morbius theme plays, is the cherry on top. It has flutes cause you are fighting Mio, not M. But since in the moment so much is happening you would just brush it off as M is Mio so of course their are flutes and by the time you fight N so much happens you don’t notice the flutes aren’t there
I thought it was kinda weird to have flutes playing all of a sudden but I just thought "oh, maybe M and Mio meet so it's like wow 2 of them so cool flute theme plays" BUT NOOOOOOOOOO OF COURSE NOT 😭😭😭
@@stalvods Also I love how the shot of M opening her eyes is recontextualized when you realize it’s Mio first opening her eyes in M’s body. It’s a moment I love watching back because it completely changes its meaning with future knowledge
34:29 [Background] Oh, Hi Bionis, loooooooong time no see, keep being hydrated Fiona: Guys, this prison is so gloomy :( Triton: WHERE IS MY GRUB! Prison warden: Here you lord consul.
Xenopeak Chronicles 3 at its arguable best. Imo the middle of this game (the stretch from fighting Ethel and Cammuravi mid ch 4 up to and including the beginning of ch 6) is the best of any game in the trilogy. I will reserve my comments about which has the strongest ending until Stal gets there in this game though. So happy I was able to catch this one live by pure chance.
Thanks for dropping by the stream!! I'll be playing more Xenoblade 3 tomorrow (Wednesday) but it will likely be side quests. I heard the game opens up even more from Chapter 6 so.. yeah.. LOL
At certain point, while watching VODs of this segment for various streamers, a thought occured to me. "It was fun". If you think about it, she had more fun sitting for a month in a prison cell talking with Noah and others, than being a Moebius for thousands of years beside N. I think this is very telling.
Well we've got here. I didn't recover from this to this day. I love and hate monolith. Well as upside now you can break-> topple->launch->smash like a champ with lucky seven
Wow just straight into Chapter 5's climax to Chapter 6 huh. Understandable. I remember playing this chapter the first time and it was in the middle of the night while my parents were sleeping. I had to muffle my tears and, not feeling satisfied with what happened, immediately went to Chapter 6 to know what the hell is going on and getting some answers. Needless to say it was a wild night as the story just escalated into new heights.
Oh boy. Its Chapter 5. Such an emotional moment of this game. It hurts every time when I see it and I always cry knowing what is going to happen. Your reaction did not disappoint and I hope you will continue to enjoy this games ability to make you feel such a wide arrange of emotions. As the game is always telling you, "Don't lose hope. Always fight for a brighter future. Don't wish for forever. Never dwell on a single moment of your life or let it define you. Don't let regret own you. This world is yours to live in." So let me say that your journey through these games mean something to you, me, and everyone who is watching you. Thanks for a great VOD of Xenoblade as usual stal. I look forward to seeing you discover more of this game and later its DLC. P.S: I cried the most when N/Noah told his son to make friends and trying his best to stay strong for his son before he died. Also the moment I saw his son understood his dad was going to leave him and was about to cry which made Noah hug him to tell his son how much he loved him while crying where his son can't see his tears made me bawl like crazy. Seeing a parent die at a young age is painful for both the child and parent. I couldn't imagine how much Noah wanted to stay with his son, only to know that his time is up and that he could only comfort his son with words of wisdom and telling him that he will always be with him like Mio and disappearing. For the son this will be the last time he will ever spend time with his dad and the last memory of him to hold onto. Those words he hear from his dad is something he will take to heart for the rest of his life and while painful will be the brightest moment he will have of him as he grows up.
Thanks for watching!! I feel so bad for N after seeing the cutscene and like.. damn sucks to only be able to live 10 terms and that's all you get. I came out of this chapter with so many questions too ;_; Hoping to get them answered as I progress more - which probably won't be any time soon because side quests.. ;_;
So what happens if you took Anakin from Star Wars, and Okabe from Steins;Gate, and mixed them in a pot? You get the best antagonist in the game, and a seriously messed up dude.
Neat, just in time before FF's DT to have a cleaner cut for a break. I hope it didn't end up for you like it apparently happened to quite some - me included: Attempting to finish that quick prison break mission before going to bed, only to then sit through a movie and going to bed at like 2 am when the alarm clock goes off at around 6 am. That was a tough work day at that moment. (Praise be coffee \o/)
I was super prepared to sit there for a long time and it was SO worth it. I'm so glad I got this done before Dawntrail.. I want to do a few more side quests before 7.0 and continue the story once I'm done with prep
@@stalvods Have fun with DT o/ First the forced downtime and then yet again the test how messed up the servers will be in regard to the bon mot "Never raid on patchday" ... and everyone does it regardless. I have yet to finish the Elden Ring DLC - even though DT apparently has been already pushed back by a week due to the otherwise overlapping releases. That said, you've mentioned ER and I can only heartily recommend it if you ever want to delve into the Souls-series of games. Also, even if it may be a bit strange, I think that playing a Souls-game can be beneficial to raiding in FF as it is like having a one-person-raid: One will wipe against a boss so many times, but perseverance is key and overcoming countless re-starts, just like with FF raids (although it was not ER but Dark Souls 3 at that time for me).
