im still catching up on the vods kek but i also killed basically everything i saw on the way from point A to B and i'd say thats intended, i never felt particularly overleveled and especially in the last chapter theres some pretty challenging fights where i thought to myself: "good thing i killed everything that moves"

52 hours chapter 2 ends. I wonder how many hours you'll take to complete this series cause FC is the second shortest game in the entire franchise lol(literally 2/5 of the longest one).

Trails does have many moments when it just cooks for a while, it’s one of reasons why this game usually ends up being played for a 1-2 hour blocks because doing a 6 hour session of slow world building and side quests is a bit tiring. It’s then offset by sessions where you play half a chapter because things have popped off - very much a tension-and-release gameplay loop. The short sessions make more sense when you consider many of these games were made for handheld PSP/PS Vita.

Obviously you already know you don’t have to care so much about people feelings about how long you are taking, but here’s my take on the matter anyway. Maybe as a viewer some of the lengthy and thorough playing is harder to watch in a stream format than many games, but you’re playing the game basically exactly the same way I would, so I could never blame you. It’s inherent to playing a JRPG like this, and it’s not like I don’t want streamers to play JRPGs I like because I want to see their reactions to it. I’d probably prefer watching it in an edited video format that cuts out “boring” stuff, but as far as a stream goes you or any other streamer should just play as you want as there’s no better way to play. Anyone who tries to get a streamer to play “faster” or any way other than their own is just going to reduce the number of people playing the game they want to watch.

A bit of a slow start so far, not many thoughts for now but I'm looking forward to the Festival portion. Lowkey I'm feeling pretty bummed out that Agate took the case from us when it was starting to get exciting, but I'm hoping things will pick up from here! More Trails on Monday!

I forgot about it though so am happy that YT recommended this to me. As a big fan of Sky trilogy compared to all Trails games, I'm very happy that you're enjoying this one. I lost the timestamp where you were talking about it, but don't worry about playing too slow. I feel like the Trails world is meant to be lived in. It encourages you to talk to every single NPC more than a lot of games. Theres a bunch of fun little side stories that many people miss because they aren't as invested in talking to the NPCs. That being said, this isnt the series to play if you're worried about keeping people's attention. Your friends are right that JRPGs dont make good stream games, but I love them anyway. Ill just watch the vods on my own time, even if it means I'm days behind the livestream.

Personally i think pyra and mythra coming back after sacrificing themself is really important because of their character arc. If they stayed dead it would undermine their growth away from despair.
