Hiya thank you all for being so kind! I honestly had no idea that anyone would even see my video except my family and friends. I'm so incredibly thankful for you all being here ❤❤
It’s my “go to” song, no matter what mood I m in or what kind of day I have had. I have seen so many people try to play this but yours has been the best. Hats off to Dire Straits for this composition. Keep Rockin !!!
I initially thought "oh wow, another acoustic capo cover on TH-cam" and was immediately so happy to be put in my place when this was one of the best covers I've heard.
Some songs you just know. i've had some real winners come thru my studio over the years. i would say you develop an ear for what will hit & what wont after recording and listening to lots of music. For you, it could be that you have a very good ear for pitch, tone and timbre. That, and i'm guessing you listen to lots of music, which, if done with intent, you learn to break-down the entire arrangement and all its parts...IF recorded well, and if the mix isn't over-dense. i don't know if you are a Musician, so i don't want to make assumptions. In any event, you are on point. There was a band i recorded demos and an EP for, then they broke up, chiefly over a couple of members that often could be unpredictable no-shows. Kinda bad, especially when it's a showcase gig, with industry people there, thinking which label would make the move. Then came a fistfight in the green room afterwards about the lead guitarist sabotaging songs (he did...i know his ability)...and that was their end. They had probably 4-5 early songs that stayed stuck in my head for years...i should look up the multitracks. Those songs were 4-5 of the ones you "just know". Sad, that much talent, with a huge catalog of songs, of which i heard bits and pieces of about a 1/3rd of what they had written. They could have had something special, and this was still before record deals were dead and buried. We will never know, though i am still in touch with the Lead Singer/Writer/Rhythm Guitarist. After both of us getting Covid testing done, i think i am gonna get him down for a day...or week, hearing what is now in the catalog. i would like to get LP quality masters made of many of his tunes. They deserve completion, and to be heard...by those who find them, and by their followers. Please forgive my overload of digression, but the TL; DR would be; Some people are in tune with what will hit the top 10, and rarely miss. Some from formal training, others are born with perfect pitch, but lose if not used, and others just have a real knack for hearing what will bring in dollars before others. Just like everyone else, this video was recommended to me and I figured "hey, this could be good", so I clicked. I was wrong. Very wrong. This is great! The guitar was awesome, the voice was beautiful and unique, all around great job!
You're a super underrated artist, it's one of the best covers I've ever heard. It feels so peaceful and so calm, you became a classic on my playlist. Please keep creating!!!.
For ye of little faith: The capo is angled that way intentionally. The bottom (higher pitched) strings on a guitar are much thinner than the top (lower pitched) strings. When a capo is placed at right angles behind the fret the bottom strings may buzz - because the capo puts less pressure on the thinner bottom strings than on the thicker top strings. Angling the capo to place it directly against the bottom side of the fret puts more pressure on the bottom strings to keep them from buzzing.
I'm not saying I've tried every single capo in the world, so I might be wrong about this one... but in my experience, that's a common problem with spring loaded capos like this one. If you have a quality capo with adjustable tension like a shubb, you don't have to stress about this. But it won't sit nicely on your peg head when you're not using it. I love a shubb me.
It's wonderful to see and hear another left-handed guitar player... The fact that you are a very good singer and player is even better... Your personal style reminded me of the 40's and early 50's... I am certain that you could give the Andrew sisters a run for the money, singing, playing, and definitely looks. What I am saying is that you are very easy on the eyes... Beautiful... Thank you for sharing your talent with everyone here. God bless you 🙏 and don't change anything.
Me: Why is she playing with a capo. Courteney starts singing. Me: Ooooh! (For some reason I was expecting an instrumental cover) Btw I love your cover. It adds some soul a d at the same time some airiness to the song.

Well and truly humbled.
I'm glad you used your regular voice and didn't try to sound like Dire Straits
Yeah, it would've been real weird if she'd opened her mouth and sounded like Mark Knopfler...
Dennis Meulensteen and vice versa😝👍🍺
How could she do that, even?
This is so good. Many damn covers have been made of this song and all of them revolve around the solo. But for once I didn't miss the solo at all lol.
Massive talent 🙌🏻
Ay yooo, big up Mr. Dane, didnt expect to find this legend here...

do I hear guest Singer?
Yes that's true!
She’s absolutely adorable with an amazing voice. She’s very talented. Great job.
"we're the sultans of simps"
Go watch Josh Turner's version to repent.
Underrated comment. If you see, you see.
Thank you
Damned straight. Okay singer and player but nothing truly noteworthy.
lol
gees the voice really is the cherry on top here.
Just like everyone else, this video was recommended to me and I figured "hey, this could be good", so I clicked. I was wrong. Very wrong. This is great! The guitar was awesome, the voice was beautiful and unique, all around great job!
Courtney, I’m viewing this in 2021 and it’s compulsive viewing. Great work.
Just 1 Million Views? Really thought I've watched it more times!
Your singing voice is comforting and warm.
You're a super underrated artist, it's one of the best covers I've ever heard. It feels so peaceful and so calm, you became a classic on my playlist. Please keep creating!!!.
So beautiful! I took a break from studying and discovered this video.
It could never be at a right angle, surely? Ninety Degrees, hmmm.
@@paulwallace4332 to the direction of the strings it would be a right angle
I'm not saying I've tried every single capo in the world, so I might be wrong about this one... but in my experience, that's a common problem with spring loaded capos like this one. If you have a quality capo with adjustable tension like a shubb, you don't have to stress about this. But it won't sit nicely on your peg head when you're not using it. I love a shubb me.
@@steveaskew2 Seriously though, with your sir name, you should really go with the crooked capo style.
Bzzzzzz
First time I watched this I knew it would pass a million!

can stop it.
@JediNxf7 Good try. Gotta get the "Who listening in 2020?" people too.
Me: Ooooh! (For some reason I was expecting an instrumental cover)
Btw I love your cover. It adds some soul a d at the same time some airiness to the song.
Could anyone look more innocent? Your way to sing is unique. You are so talented and sweeeeeet!!!!!!!! I immediately fell in love with you. Many hugs and kisses!
What a great cover! And yes, I am talking about that duvet.
boom boom.
For a pretty girl she rolls with a cheapo granny dressing gown.
Wonderfully played! And loving the mystery of the capo in this one. Nice work! :D x x
