The trigger bar right behind the shoe is probably hitting the front of the magazine, and that's preventing it from traveling far enough to release the hammer. I've seen this happen a couple of times when a trigger bar is out of spec. I swapped out my Apollo 11 grip module with a $40 Prodigy grip, and it made an unbelievable difference. I posted a video on my channel about the Apollo 11 grip change. When I took the Apollo grip off, I was shocked at how thin and flimsey it was...and it would flex so much that it felt like I could break it by just squeezing it with 2 fingers. The Prodigy grip is solid as a rock, and could not be flexed by squeezing it like the Apollo grip. So for 40 bucks, I think it's one of the best upgrades you can do for the Apollo. I've got alot of 2011's, and I really like the way the Apollo 11 looks, but unfortunately that's all it really has going for it. The trigger on mine was pretty spongy, I had to re-fit the grip safety because it wouldn't disengage, the slide to frame fit is absolutely horrible, the thumb safety was so hard to manipulate that you almost had to use both hands to flip of off, and the right ambi thumb safety lever had so much play in that it couldn't even be used. So, obviously there's not much quality contol going on over at LFA. I haven't had any malfunctions with mine running unsuppressed, but with a suppressor on it, it will not run reliably with any ammo I've tried. Out of all the 2011's that I have, the Apollo 11 is definitely the worst one of the group. Alot of people may talk trash about the Prodigy, but with $20 and 10 minutes of work, my Prodigy has run 100%, even with a suppressor, and in my opinion, the Apollo 11 isn't even close to being in the same class as the Prodigy. I've got most of the issues fixed on the Apollo, but I'm still working on and testing with it, so hopefully I'll get it worked out and running reliably with a can on it. Good luck with yours, I hope they get it sorted out for you!
Damn, sounds like you got an Apollo that was all around horrible. Some of the issues you mentioned I haven't encountered on other Apollo's I've handled. QC is definitely a concern just based off my experience alone, not to mention that of others I've spoken to. Mine is on its way back so we'll see. Based on my conversation with LFA it appears my Apollo issue was related to the grip module and was replaced. I'll check out your channel / video. Thanks for commenting and sharing!
@jujuscustomshop Yeah, you had one of the first batches probably. I will say that all around LFA customer service is good and they are pretty responsive. That gave me some relief.
Mine did this exact thing. They sent me a new gun and 3 free mags for the trouble, second gun had an extractor issue and they sent it back with a new slide. Still need to test the new slide.
Glad they did something for you to try to make it up. They fixed mine and gave me an extra mag. Seems to be pristine now but I will reserve that for range day. 😂 Plan to do that this weekend. Be sure to update on how yours works if you don't mind.
I'm pretty sure the issue is that you aren't depressing the grip safety all the way, when you're dry firing you're thumb is low, indicating that you have a fully depressed safety. When you're going to fire your thumb is high and you aren't applying enough pressure to get it past the safety.
Appreciate the comment and feedback. However, I am not a novice shooter and understand how guns work. I am applying adequate pressure to the grip safety, and there are times in the video I illustrate that I am intentionally making sure its depressed. You are correct that the issue is within the grip though, just not a user error. New video coming with update on issue.
Not a bad way to go at all, Staccato is solid. I figure I put $200-$500 into this one (depending on what directions I take), and it will be phenomenal.
Thanks for sharing. I’m taking mine out today for the first time. I pray that it’s just that one! Sorry to hear that Bro but glad you caught it on camera.
Appreciate you tuning in. If you can dry fire with mag inserted, then yours is fine. I've heard of a few issues with the set screws in the trigger and someone with an issue with the grip, but most haven't had issues. Hope all works out with yours. I will look out for the video.
@love4gtsandguns ... the trigger over travel set screw bottoms out on the mag release housing, so if it's adjusted too much, it would still not fire without a mag inserted. More than likely, the trigger bar hitting the front of the mag. That could be an issue with the trigger or possibly the grip.
Just got 1 and had a bunch of light primer strikes first day,,, it worked itself out after about 30 rounds….. but when I got home I noticed my front sight was damaged when it was installed
Could be grip safety not all the way depressed or the trigger bar is hitting the magazine. You can slightly bend the front of the trigger bar forward and the back of the bow slightly backwards as well.
I may send him mine to do his magic on. I considered sending to him when I had the issues but thought it best to send back to manufacturer as it was literally brand new. It should work before sending out at least. 😂
Either somethings up with your grip safety or if your trigger has an over travel screw that's improperly adjusted, it'll also prevent the trigger from pulling. 1911s are finnicky and when it comes to performance, fitments on every single part is extremely important. I've seen nothing but good things on this gun. Looks like you unfortunately got a bad gun out of the box. it happens sometimes.
I agree. However, never forget one of the reasons they say Stacatto changed it's name from STI was because of the many issues it had with its early models. I don't have an Apollo but I do hope they have longterm success. It's not a Stacatto killer and never will be, but its rollout has been less troublesome than the Prodigy's by a country mile and even STI's.
@dnut1987 agreed. I never been a stacatto or a canik fan. Idk why I just think stacatto is always talked about and praised. Canik is clunky/robotic looking 😐
Depends on what you mean by that. I didn't remove the grip or trigger completely, only adjusted the pre-trvel and over travel screws which didn't work.
I’ll be taking mine out this weekend, bought it last week. Cleaned it, put some solvent on the rails and racked it about 500 times, it’s amazing how much crap came off. Oiled it up, it cycles snap caps, and two types of ball ammo like it’s at a buffet. Federal HST hangs up occasionally, it absolutely hates Hornady critical defense. Not only does it jam, the ones that did feed are set back to the point where they’ll be going into the misfire bucket when I get to the range. I tested the firing pin with a pencil and it will go about 18” straight up, a plastic pen will bounce off the ceiling pretty hard, I think I’ll be good. Find out this weekend. Thanks for the video
Sounds promising so wishing you nothing but fun times on the range. I think mine was just an overlooked issue that quite honestly should have never made it through QC. Happy to hear that most are not having issues. I like the brand and product so rooting for it hard.
Not trying to offend, but could it be your grip isn't actuating the safety enough? I have three different double stacked 1911s/2011 platform pistols and one grip has an odd angle that makes it more difficult to push the safety in far enough and it stops me in my tracks. I have to grip it way harder than the other two. I'm thinking of getting another grip entirely or pinning my grip safety.
I'm not offended and welcome the feedback. But if you watch the video you can clearly see it has nothing to do with my grip. Now, it could be an issue with the grip safety for sure, but not whether or not the safety is being actuated by me.
Honestly, despite my issue with the gun out the box, I don't believe they make a bad product and that this isn't representative of the brand. Time will tell though and I will post about it. Everyone else I talk to in the community who got one did not have an issue. 🤷🏾♂️
@love4gtsandguns a simple test fire at the factory would have told them that gun had an issue. I wonder how quality control is conducted. Do they actually test fire every gun or just send them out.
@AndyM-ku5dp Good question. And I 100% agree with you. It's an unacceptable thing to slip through the cracks on some level. I was wondering if something happened in transport. Either way, it not a good look.
I had 30% failure rate on 500 rounds on my Apollo compact....Failure to feed, light primer strikes and the dead trigger. You never knew when it was gonna fire. LFA has it now. Reddit has a ton of LFA problems. There are many.
That's not cool man. Yeah, even when talking to LFA they kind of admitted there were batches of the Apollos that had issues so hopefully they have corrected the problems and up the qc before shipping out product. Mine is on its way back from LFA, thankfully, so hopefully, the issue is resolved, and they tested it thoroughly. 🤞🏾
At first I had same issue the grip safty leg on my saer spring was bent to much I adjusted it and now wow the gun shoots amazing with like a 3 pound pull weight try looking at that
Thanks for watching and the feedback. Yeah, I didn't want to mess with it too much more than I did, so I sent it back. Glad to hear yours was a simple fix. I don't doubt mine will be a simple solution also. Can't wait to post a positive update!

@@love4gtsandguns ... yeah, my serial number is in the 600 range, so maybe the early ones had more issues.

I’ll stick to my staccato cs. Doesn’t look like it’s the staccato killer. 😅
😂

That sucks about the sight but glad the other stuff worked out. This platform needs some break in.
I may sell my Staccato XC and buy four of those. 👍😂
let us know whether it is fixed when it comes back and what it was!
Posted an update video yesterday and will post first range session tonight or tomorrow. Appreciate the watch and check out the updates.

I been thinking of buying and letting skipz put a trigga in it he did amazing job with my Prodigy

Overall seems like a great gun and platform. Skipz Apollo is nice. Let me know if you decide to get one.
It’s the grip safety it’s much heavier with a round in the chamber, I pinned my grip safety
Noted. We'll see if the issue is attributed to that but I plan to pin mine as well.
Grip safety issue
Likely.
Hears this pistol had issues with grip module cause how it's configured
I literally just got an email response from them saying it was a grip module issue. I will post an update sometime after I get it back tomorrow.

Stacatto killer? Maybe just Maybe prodigy killer mosdef not Stacatto killer. Nice piece tho 💯

147's aren't spicy... they're subsonic and the softest shooting...
