@@Cn-4966think about how much core volcanicus is WITHOUT upgrade kits…. Dinoking is actually cheaper. Lets say 6 core class figures is roughly $70. DNA/ebay upgrade kits are around $20 and are necessary to complete it… i’d say this set is quite reasonably priced

We get new heads, new weapons, and new combiner parts and all of it integrates. So yeah, that extra $20 goes a long way to making this a better figure, which yeah even with my upgraded Volcanicus I still like Dinoking MUCH better.
I loved the dinobots as a tiny set so I picked this up pretty much as soon as I could. The Dinobots are displayed separately around the combined Dinoking, flanked by my two leader Dinobots, Sludge and Snarl. They're just so lovely, all of them. So glad that some of the very best legacy era figures are dinosaurs.
In combined mode, if you flip up Rairyu’s crotch plate, it fills out Dinoking’s crotch plate and makes the waist joint look more natural. It doesn’t say this anywhere, but it feels intentional.
Great review That Toy Guy!!! Dinoking is far more impressive then I thought he'd be. :D I wonder if we will get Monstructor in this mold? Keep on being amazing.
I actually prefer the more coherent color scheme of the Dinobots/Volcanicus version, though upgrade jit arms and feet are a must. I still haven't gotten around to hitting all of Snarl's yellow (except the insides of the legs which should be gtey) with some gold paint, either, but just the feet (about twice as tall as those Dinoking feetsies by eye) giving him a little extra height, and of course the ball jopinted ankles, do so much to make him look like a finished design instead of one where they just stopped. Being head and shoulders taller than a modern Voyager (a Siege seeker standig beside him as I type) also suits him as a combiner, evern from Core class components, better than just being a Wide-boy VOY. I forget what upgrade kit it was; the only thing on the box that isn't Chinese ideograms is "YYW-40" but it also had some filler parts for Sludge's waist and legs so that's good too9. Now I just need a Devasyator at 7-8 inches; I do have the mid-noughties Sixbuilder recolor that was sold as a Walgreens exclusive in Universe branded cards, but the articulation REALLY can't stand up beside even this janky of a modern toy, one with liike, hips and knees and stuff. Maybe the widely knocked-off Mechfans/DX9 one? He's around the same size, but built much slimmer. I do agree that the dino modes and to a degree the individual robot modes so look netter with the more colorful layour, except for Swoop. Orihinal Core Swoop is barely a step down from S86 Swoop (though that's saying more about the "leader class" really) whle Yokoryu is too much whitebarely broken up by scraps of blue. That is accurate to the original but that doesn't make it any less bland.
I had to get this from Hasbro Pulse when they went up; for no good reason I have the Core Classic Dinobots with a few stickers, a set repainted into the G2 Dinobots with most of the ToyHax stickers, and a half team painted roughly as their Animated counterparts, one upgrade kit for Volcanicus, and this set minus the QC issues fortunately
He did get Marinemaster in United EX, which is in his colours and can have his diving bell head if you use his combiner mode head, but even that was 12 years ago.

I paid an extra $20 for an upgrade kit for the Volcanicus set, so really it’s par for the course imo. I still wish they will revisit Volcanicus, Dinoking, and even Monstructor in a larger size class in the future with modern engineering. Heck, if a third party is willing to do OSKOs with some upgrades to this mold, I would be fine with that too. Jui Jiang did it for the CW Superion. I see no reason this couldn’t get the same treatment. Would sell fast imo.
I still prefer the core Dinobots from a character standpoint, but still ended up buying this because they're legitimately why these molds were created. I did get the Volcanicus upgrade kit, but I like the Dinoking extra bits more. I guess worst case scenario I can call this Shattered Glass and that'll do 'er.
I'm thinking it was the upper chest part of dino king that would later in transformers lore become an autobot and become the dinobot power core combiner. I think it's one of the dino king characters but I can't remember which one
I skipped the regular Core Dinobots because for me, they made no sense... And I knew some improved repaint would come. I played around with my set and I just had to glance at the box to figure out how everything works. Overall, it's pretty damn solid and cool looking! Furthermore, it's well worth buying from Pulse because the overall price is around the same or cheaper than the regular Core Dinos.

If they had just at least improved on the Grimlock mold with wings that could lock the upper dino-mode to the rest of the body for greater stability. And the connector on the bottom for the tail/ gun could’ve been updated so there were two fully circular points for connection rather than impartial which loosen very easily with just a few transformations or even when on display in dino-mode. The Grimlock mold was already clearly one of the weakest molds on the entire set and nothing has changed about that. And the way the Dino Force/ Dinoking box set had been released with Goryu in partial Dino/ Combine mode; the upper dino-mode torso can become warped do to how flimsy it already is; especially with a piece of the back area being the combiner mode peg. And speaking of the combine mode joints; it would’ve been nice if there were extenders released to improve on the shoulders and knees for better articulation in those spots. Still going to have to rely on third party. But who knows; maybe Hasbro and TakaraTomy will pull another fast ball on us with individual figure sells that have these improvements. I really wouldn’t put it past them given what we have already seen. These early box sets are still likely a demo/ preview for the set. The other complaint I have with this set is that the melee/ halberd weapon is horribly designed with varied sized peg connectors and a weapon that is perhaps longer than it should be anyway. The tip that is Doryu’s sword has the worst connectivity of all the weapons that combine into it. To top that; the storage for some of these for each figures dino-mode is far from being as tight as they should and even nail polish or a little glue isn’t helpful and not ideal given the varied designs and peg and peg hole sizes. The only things I can say that are a good improvement with this set over the Dinobots are the following. A better tail/ gun/ hand for the left arm (the number one improvement!). Gairyu is one of the better figures even with the lack of elbow articulation which would help with storing the arms away for combine mode. The new tail seriously makes up for Scarrs stubby but that couldn’t hold in place well as a hand. Gairyu’s fills in the arm better and has a much better locking mechanism. The next best upgrade is the addition of ACTUAL FEET! They are oversized as weapons for Rairyu, but still very sturdy and connect well. It may take a couple tries to attach the left foot to Goryu, but it works. The last is the right arms hand. I do hate how blocky it is for Yokuryu’s dino-mode, but at least it offers more articulation and because of the design it and Gairyu’s hands offer; the orientation of the arms can be altered so there are proper elbows so there is at least some improvement there. DNA Design has already teased an upgrade kit for this set. Hopefully they have learned from their earlier upgrade kit for the Dinobot’s and can double-up on the one-up that Hasbro and TakaraTomy have done against them since all of the accessories still have storage ‘if you can even get the storage to work right’. One of the most stable weapons yet perhaps sticks out the worst is Doryu’s Scythe weapon while in dino-mode. Not recommended to store this on the figure when not displayed as it is more prone to damage being thinner than the two feet/ rocket launchers on Rairyu. Might also want to leave off the axe blade on Kakuryu even though it might have one of the better connections. Going back to combined weapons; I think Goryu’s club/ back cannon would’ve been better as an addition to the Dinoking’s combined gun rather than as the bottom of the Halberd. Anyway; I sincerely apologize for adding a review of my own to your own video review @That Toy Guy. And it’s a shame you didn’t keep the old Dinobots cause who knows; perhaps there’ll be new upgrades for them later (official and/ or official). Plus being the same molds/ you could’ve used the hands and feet from this set with them for fun. I think some people are probably going to look for such possible loose pieces to recolor or whatever and there’ll probably be third party developers who’ll develop alternatives based on these. We might even see proper combining weapons like the Perfect Effect weapons that form a sword for PotP’s Volcanicus. The weapon DNA teased looks different from what Hasbro and TakaraTomy officially released.
Also core class figures ranged roughly around $15 to $20 on average so getting this set for $80 was a great deal for you! Even if they were maybe $10 to $15; it would really depend on the timing like were they on clearance, the store, and location and then you have to factor in tax plus any S/H charges if ordering them online. There are also membership benefits some stores have that might lower the price on some items. Imagine buying the six Dinobot’s for about $15 plus tax each vs $80 plus tax for a boxset (doomed to eventually go up in price however since is is highly unlikely to see in-store and will probably be produced in less quantity depending on supply and demand).
I think the hands are a bit meh as an upgrade, better than the original but not by much, but god damn those extra feet add so much. It's amazing what a tiny extra sliver of height and a more coherent foot shape will do to make those legs seem less terrible.
They're the same toy just with different colours and a few new parts. In continuity completely different. I'm guessing you're familiar with the Dinobots and their whole deal, while the Dinoforce were exclusive to the Japanese transformers victory where they were the comedy relief goons (think team rocket in Pokémon)
I didn't buy all the core Dinobots because I literally never saw a core class Snarl, and by the time I gave up I couldn't even find a Grimlock for the other foot :(
The problem with all these core/legends/whatever class 'combiners' is that they all look incredibly cheap and stupid, because they not only have to transform from an alt mode into a robot mode, but they have to combine, so they're made really fucking weird so they can do all that (a _major_ point to this is how the Sludge mould's legs were made). The combined mode's 'legs' have to be all scrunched up just to support the weight, as the core/whatever class joints can't even dream of doing that by themselves. Hell, even when they make these things as deluxes/voyagers now, they mess it up royally. At least G1 Devastator can be forgiven as they were trying something new at the time (in America, anyway. In Japan they already had teams of six), giving him six members instead of the usual five, but even then they still produced the five-team combiners along side Devastator. And when they came out with Piranacon/King Poseidon they made it so the sixth member was just interchangeable with the others. But all the so-called 'combiners' of the last several years have been terribly designed. But to be fair, some of that has to do with stupid fans who don't even think about what they're asking, they just rabidly demand it, so Hasbro/Takara obliges and makes them regardless of how well the idea works in real life. But it's *_STILL_* mostly Hasbro.
This is a super cool set but a tad expensive if your outside the states 80 usd (is I think 130-135 Canadian without the shipping cost). For a core class combiner that’s a bit of an ask it’s asking commander price for 6 core figures with extra parts, hopefully this gets rereleased in the future at a lower price or they do a monstructor at a lower price This is a good looking set it’s just the price is a bit hard to justify for a bunch or core class figures
They didn't though, Dinoking was their name in Japan and changing their names would pretty much kill their value as the entire point of this set is to appeal to the Japanese fans
One other option might suggest is a Selects accessory pack akin to WFC Trilogy. And if they ever made one again, I would put all my bets on it for Volcanicus' sword and maybe some foot pieces or shoes for the guy albeit no ankle rockers.
They already did one before Legacy Volcanicus, which was Menasor. Oddly enough, Menasor also has a box set which all of the Stunticons are in their original G1 toy inspired deco.
@@Courier-gq6ym havent heard of legacy aerial bots, google shows nothing. And didnt realise they finished stunticons already, last video ive seen of them was motomaster.
@@BlueFoxProductions they finished the stunticons months ago, all of the Aerial bots besides Silverbolt were confirmed for next year and Hasbro leaks also said we're getting a Swindle for next year as well, so bruticus is probably coming too.
80 is an odd price. But let me brake it down: each figure is 12 dollars is, roughly. There are 6, 12 X 6 = 72 adding the extra parts I guess is about 8 dollars, so there ya go, 80 bucks. Not that bad of a price though.
I have the FP version the possibility and combination methods are a lil bit dated due to how old that set is but if you can get it on a Black Friday or Christmas sale it’s a good grab. With FP you do get more posing with the 6 bots and combiner also the size looks good on a shelf but if your into the small core scale and don’t mind the limited posing then the hasbro one does well

Hasbro dicking everyone over by locking the real toy behind a timed exclusive and, sending us half-baked, footless and, weaponless Volcanicus and, shitty core dinobots. Hasbro sucks.
$80 for a collection of 6 core classes seems both criminally overpriced and fair in my head. What a weird concept.
It does come with extra stuff but still, it's a little overpriced

Wait for mine to come in soon : )
Been debating on picking up the fansproject version. Seems to be a lot on sale lately
Dang that’s a nice combiner
This is a super cool set but a tad expensive if your outside the states 80 usd (is I think 130-135 Canadian without the shipping cost). For a core class combiner that’s a bit of an ask it’s asking commander price for 6 core figures with extra parts, hopefully this gets rereleased in the future at a lower price or they do a monstructor at a lower price
This is a good looking set it’s just the price is a bit hard to justify for a bunch or core class figures
Still don’t like how they sacrificed a good core class Dinobot set for a character not a lot of people know about
Where's you get this from? Pulse?
Yep
that marvel legends unboxing was insane. Too bad there's a Dinoking review to interrupt it.
I definitely want those figures.
Gairyu/Skar/ankylosaurus has my colours so i immediately like him :P
I also really like ankylosaurus so there's that too
Would you review the legacy insecticons
I doubt he will with the only chance being when the last member drops next year. Unfortunately they're not great to put it nicely.
your going to make a video on Deadpool and Wolverine figures right?
I wish Hasbro had given them proper (English) Transformer names, like they did for the combiner, Dinoking.
They didn't though, Dinoking was their name in Japan and changing their names would pretty much kill their value as the entire point of this set is to appeal to the Japanese fans
Hey that toy guy!
Really hope for them to do a volcanicus box set with the new hand and feet but they probably won't
One other option might suggest is a Selects accessory pack akin to WFC Trilogy.
And if they ever made one again, I would put all my bets on it for Volcanicus' sword and maybe some foot pieces or shoes for the guy albeit no ankle rockers.
where to buy ?
I know very little about these guys, totally imagining they’re like the zybots from Robot Chicken
Transformers Victory.
A bit goofy.
Same as starsabre and deathsaurus.
Bludgeon👍
I wish they did a non legends scale combiner for once in Legacy.
Stunticons and the Aerial bots are right there.
They already did one before Legacy Volcanicus, which was Menasor. Oddly enough, Menasor also has a box set which all of the Stunticons are in their original G1 toy inspired deco.
@@Courier-gq6ymAerialbots/Superion won't be around until AoP. Also, SS86 Devastator.
Hasbro telling me this isn't shipping till the 15th of November and here it is in reviewers' hands, I've been lied to
Wow. Mine shipped from pulse almost two weeks ago. That's interesting
@ThatToyGuy probably just more pains of being in Europe, and in the country with the worst distribution there too
@@jonny-not-so-bravo617yeah mine are supposedly getting shipped tomorrow/later today idk it's 1am
Fingers crossed they come a bit earlier for you
80 is an odd price. But let me brake it down: each figure is 12 dollars is, roughly. There are 6, 12 X 6 = 72 adding the extra parts I guess is about 8 dollars, so there ya go, 80 bucks. Not that bad of a price though.
imagine making review where camera focused on toys
Torn between getting this or the fansproject dinoking (as in I really prefer the f.p one, but this is much more affordable lol)
I have the FP version the possibility and combination methods are a lil bit dated due to how old that set is but if you can get it on a Black Friday or Christmas sale it’s a good grab. With FP you do get more posing with the 6 bots and combiner also the size looks good on a shelf but if your into the small core scale and don’t mind the limited posing then the hasbro one does well
@awesomeguy9513 yea, I like my combiners to have some "presence" over the rest of my collection
my friend called this power ranger man
80?
For that?
Nope.
Will next review be powermaster optimus prime from last episode?
I have it and it’s fun to just mess with, but I am in AU so it cost $150 aud and that’s quite a bit of money
What Bludgeon is that
It's a me, Maryu
In the uk this thing cost £80.99 (105$) which is frankly insane
Welp my inner Power Rangers fan is screaming at me soooooo:
WE NEED DINOKING POWER NOW!!!!
Cue Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 5heme.
I had to because my childhood but really these are good smol dinos!
I’m insanely early lol, 36 seconds🤣🤣🤣
If it was 40% less i'd buy it, but not at this rediculous price. This should have been bigger, deluxe class bigger.
Wish the 86 Dino bots combined
Someone had done a fan combi out of the SS86 Dinobots, and it looks like a kaiju.
Commander Class price for six core class figures 🤔
Makes the Dinobot version look like a knock-off.
The way this man tosses these figures around makes the collector in my cringe, and the child in me smile.
we need marvel legends reviews!!!!😭
I just got him today
Yay dinoking
Oh my God when i get legacy laser optimus prime i wil never get another transformer because this hobby is super expensive, at least its better than model trains.
this cheers me up alot after almost passing out(hope we het a review for those d&w figures pls)
Why not monstuctor???
Cus monstructor would require HEAVY retooling to even look right, while Dinoking would be easy to recolor as Volcanicus so more value for less work
Yay
Welp, glad I stayed with Volcanicus because I like it way more than Dinoking here... Colors look ugly on it and $80 for 6 core class figures. Yeah, no!
Hasbro dicking everyone over by locking the real toy behind a timed exclusive and, sending us half-baked, footless and, weaponless Volcanicus and, shitty core dinobots. Hasbro sucks.
That Toy Guy getting more Marvel Legends is awesome. Hope he does a video on the Deadpool and Wolverine figures.
Looks like dinobot i see no dinoking
