I tried hand-feeding my baby budgies and it is unfortunately really difficult job. You have to make new mixture everytime they're hungry (making food warm, mixing enough and so on). The easiest part was handfeeding 6 days old budgie as it still had closed eyes and will open beak when hungry. I had 16 days old who was big, and started getting feathers but would sometimes shiver. Everytime I had to sleep, I was thinking about chicks.. is there warm or are they hungry. I did not sleep for a few days when my family started begging me to stop handfeeding them.. as the female plucked their feathers, only dad Benji had to do that job. I put babies with him and he would feed them sometimes along with me. We were such a good team. Now I have really tame one who learned to speak at age of 2 and the rest of the babies are somehow wild because they spent time with their mum 😂
but it comes at a good cost

My budgie just laid an egg today. I'm so exited!
@Charlie Cassidy Well, at first mine wouldn't breed either for several month. But then i realised i made a big mistake, and that was to only give them the food THEY need. But when they breed you had to overfeed them, eventhough it feels wrong. They shall always have way more food than they usually get, because they need to know that they can be able to feed the babies.
Then make sure that it is a female and a male that you have and that they are bonded. If they are bonded they with show sign like: preening each other, sitting besides each other, and feeding each other. You can also give them a cuddlefishbone and mineralblok. Give them softwood and natural woodperches. And make sure the cage and nestingbox are big enough.

Kevin Hunshal no don’t the new bird would be too young and could mess with the baby’s or even kill them, it’s best to just leave food near the mom so she can eat then feed the baby, plus it’s better to not have the dad near cause he can get jealous and hurt the babys or kill them that’s what happened to me at least 😔 I lost a baby budgie because of that 😭💔

Wow alen they are so sweet. I'm so happy for you, next time if you would want a more successful clutch I would recommend breeding them when there were is dark brown that means the’re in the mood and want to start a family. Just my suggestion, but everything will be ok so don't worry.

i have the same exact budgies, i have Mr.Snowflake and i named him snowflake, i have nibbler and i named her Rainbow, because she had blue,yellow,green and white at the end of her tail. they gave birth to 5 chicks, (6) but one died so leaving us to five. Their names are Snowy (male), Sunny (female), Biscuit (male), CutiePie (Female), Oreo (unknown gender).
and i have 2 more budgies, i have cookie but i named him "Sky", i have Nibbler but i named her Vegi, cause rainbow and vegi are twins when we bought them. :D

I need some help from an expert my bird budgie loves to stay/sleep under my blankets covers where it’s darkness. He grinds his beak and it seems to make him feel safe. When I try to take him out or pull the cover off of him he scream and bites me. What should I do? Should I let him sleep there? Or should I put a blanket in his cage?

It is important for u to learn the handfeed. When 2 weeks old it is better for u to handfeed instead of their parent. Posiblity n chance of living is higher for the chicks to survive. Also the parent recover all the nutrient after laying egg is much better.
