Seven years later & they still haven't released a 12V brushless reciprocating saw!

Makita did a great job adding the paddle switch, hopefully we will see them in the rotation more they have a great 18 v line

This line has some growing to do, kind of big for that type of saw. I played around with their 12v CXT combo kit at HD their drill and impact and they felt really nice and were pretty compact. Them batteries though are so small lol.

I actually like the idea of this for stuff like trimming branches with one hand then most things. For me a recip is for odd jobs I cannot fit a bigger saw or grinder into. I am not doing a bunch of demo work. So this might be a good tool for me.

I could see this being useful for plumbers and closet installers who cut pvc, copper, & meta rods one-handed. Not a lot of power needed in those types of applications and easy to control with the paddle switch.

I feel like this is smoother and just as powerful as my 20v Dewalt reciprocating saw

Really liking the new 12v batteries. Think makita made the right choice switching

Would be strong enough for metal work like 3/4 threaded rod and sheet metal?

They also make this same saw in 18v. I don't believe you get much more power, but runtime and compatibility makes it awesome.

Think this would be handy for an electrician? I.e. conduit cutting?

Dan they do make an 18v version of that saw with the paddle switch

The 12v recip saws are pretty handy and definitely have their place for some applications. I'll stick with my Bosch though, it's nice and compact and essentially identical to the Milwaukee. Nice video fellas.

I'd be incredibly happy if the m12 brushed hackzall was this style of slim ergo with a paddle switch. I'd still keep my m12 Fuel Hackzall and my m18 Sawzall, there are uses for all three styles...this Makita style would open it up a bit more than just the small hackzall versus the larger Fuel hackzall.

Please do a head to head tool fight between the Milwaukee 2nd gen fuel drill vs the Dewalt DCD 996. It would be nice and much anticipated.

With the brushless reciprocating saw, impact wrench, impulse driver, jigsaw... this is what they decide to have you review?
Do they even have a marketing department?

What size metal can i cut with this ?

  • @wildgoose6596
    @wildgoose6596 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Great review guys! The grip looks nice, but it's confusing to me. It's long, and far from small so you can get a ton of leverage on the cut, but it lacks power so that is useless. The forward paddle is a good idea, but then you have the other grip in the way, particularly if you are trying to use it in tight areas. It seems they had some great ideas that they morphed into one awkward and underpowered tool. I'm gonna have to get one in my hands and see if my opinion changes, but I don't think this one is for me.

Recently bought this tool and I am completely abusing and beating it to hell every chance I can. It's not the most powerful but it does work like a horse as long as you have the right blade.
I've used it to cut 2×4,2×6,3/4 treaded rod,3 inch conduit, steel plate up to 1 inch it does the job and has impressed me, I don't need to get the 15 amp Milwaukee ever time now

Makers might like this saw for foam cutting became of the way you can hold it. I'm Mr. Milwaukee M12 but this is a cool little saw. I was kinda meh like Dan at first.

Looks like it would be great for cutting large wire and PVC too large for hand cutters, definitely not for heavy carpentry.

  • @Nordraw

The trade off in power between 12 volt and 18 volt is just to much. Seems like a good little tool but I would have to go with the 18 volt.
