Wow Hamilton only lost in equal machinery 2 times in 14 years, clearly a horrible driver.
Before talking about who's gonna be the top team with the new regulations, gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us ‘take a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.’ Thirty years later, Sebastian told us ‘I had to start my car like a computer, it’s very complicated.’ And Nico Rosberg said that during the race - I don’t remember what race - he pressed the wrong button on the wheel. Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too complicated with twenty and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more communication with your engineers?
It's complicated but not too complicated in my view. Once you're used to it, you're used to it. There are way more complicated things to manage than some buttons in todays racing. Realistically, drivers are only really changing diff and brake bias settings on the fly. However, saying this, I do miss the classic cars (pre late 90's) where the steering wheels literally had no buttons. There's something beautiful about it being just you and the car. (I'm saying this like I've driven them in real life, only sim racing unfortunately 😄) Overall though, I don't think any of it makes a real difference to the racing except when accidents and/or errors occur with all the buttons and electronics, e.g. Hamiltons "magic" button that he hit accidentally in Baku this year. I can see how that ruins the spirit of racing to a degree.
To Niki, driving was like talking or walking; extremely intuitive and it is easy to take things you have mastered to such a level that you do them "on autopilot" for granted, and consider them easy. It is true that all the buttons drivers have today make driving less about strictly intuition but I think it is actually more challenging to be at the top then before because driving mastery is still just as important; driving on your "intuition" actually frees your mind to think about all the buttons and switches which translates to track performance. Of course, driving cars that Niki drove at the top is considered just insane in this day and age because they were so untamed and exposed comparatively, it took some massive balls to push them to the limit.
Was great having Nico on Commentary because he's the only one who can actually give u a proper real life scenario and experience plus go into great detail on these current formula 1 cars, his insight is a breath of fresh air and enlightening for the Sky Commentary team 😎👍🏻🏴
Make sense though. Because next year is the best time for comeback cause all the drivers will have to adapt to a completely new car. More or less reset the experience of the drivers with a car. However, there are some other factors to consider as well, for example fitness.
I would like to think that Mclaren is going to be competing for the constructors next year, I believe Zak Brown and Seidel can nail the regulation changes
I believe Aston Martin should be strong next year. They are the only ones with a midfield car that knows what to do with a small budget since they have been doing that for years, yet making competent cars. With their new factory and staff from Redbull, the genius of Sebastian Vettel, they will be something to look out for.
@@LG-dt7lg McLaren could be strong as well. I think their 2022 season will be more up to the drivers. On one hand you have Lando who is crazy fast and ready to fight to titles, and then you have Danny who can be a title contender but if he doesn’t get to grips with the 2022 car right from the get go, he’s gonna be out of title contention.
I think it’s because his body may be adjusted to suck high speeds so when he’s super focused he kinda slips back into his “I need to prepare for these 3g corners mind set”
@@willwalsh8208 you see it in videos of tracks he’s actually visited . You see his body move back when he’s braking and through corners like it would if he was in a f1 car. I think his mind is always adjusted to take super high G’s
@@willwalsh8208 Yup. Even normal people move with things in games and such when you're into them. Imagine if you'd spent most of your formative years racing. It'll be ingrained into him to react as if it's real. He knows first-hand how real and dangerous racing is, as you can see from his F4 clip.
I honestly think that the new format will suit drivers like Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso who are really good at there defending and overtaking but leave just enough space to avoid collisions
I truly believe Mclaren with Lando and Riccardo are serious for next season. Red Bull and Merc are likely to regress a bit. Mclaren also has a lot of great people working for them. And I believe Zac Brown is a great person to run the team
My answer is McLaren! The team has improved a lot in recent years, especially this year. i think their pace will reach the level of mercedes, redbull next year. Also they have a very experienced, and a very talented driver. So I have to say Lando Norris in the McLaren will perform the best in 2022!
2022 should feel like a reset for all teams with cars that should race close to each other. With the spirit of improving the race quality with more chances to overtake drivers with strong race craft likeAlonso would excel very well.
@@854gabryel to some extent he’s, but 2009-2010 after the big rules changes in 2009 were very very open compared to recent years. I just hope it shakes up the field somewhat
Props to him using a proper sim game with an accurate handling model and scanned tracks to show off the racing lines. And explaining everything so clearly.
Wow thank you Nico Just. Found your channel here Big formula one fan and love your Detailed info you give us racefans. Lots of good nuggets here. Thank you and i subscribed for more .
Given the amount of changes in the cars it’s very very unpredictable but I think the new generation would step up and hopefully Lando will rise and shine ✨🙂
Carlos sainz will perform best along with ferrari, because, carlos, like kimi is super adaptable, and ferrari will have more aero development time than rb and amg.
I think Williams will have the biggest improvement . If the rumours are true and Alex Albon goes to Williams , he can help them build back up . As he can pull the team upwards with driving skill from F1 and DTM. Use these skills from DTM to help racing and overtaking ! Obviously Same thing can happen with Nyck De Vries
Nico Rosberg is one very cool dude.Utterly open and honest, no pretense at all. Considering the world he grew up in; Montecarlo and the top end of formula racing, he is wonderfully accessable and down to earth. I would love to have a cup of coffee with him.
It could be alpine but they are the real wild card. As they are the only one with a renault engine. But Alonso stills seems hungry to win more and the team looks in a good direction.
Alpine. They have improved so much, their last podium was in 2011 until Danny Ric broke that in 2020. They have improved yearly, and this year in 2021, they have won a race, the car is very stable and the team is brilliant. The team will also have a lot of money due to placing higher then other teams from they points they are getting. They also have a great driver, Alonso, who can power up the car, an example of this is 2014 Ferrari, the car wasn't good, but he somehow gained podiums and beat Kimi in the points. Alonso has also signed for 2022, which gives Alpine A LOT of hope. Ocon is also a great driver, he has skill and a good youngster to race in F1. I feel they will benefit from this and maybe be fighting around 1st and 3rd for the constructors championship in 2022.
I think the teams who are saving up on upgrades like Haas for the new regulation changes will have better chance of doing well. But obviously It also depends on the facilities and drivers the teams have, I think Mercedes can triumph if George can get a seat, but we will know who will really be in contention for the titles during next season’s Pre-season
Lando. If Mclaren can make a competitive car he could win the championship. He's got great speed and consistency. He's improved massively in a short span of time and is the leading driver for the team at a very young age.
Oh, if McLaren somehow gets competetive car in the "new era" I hope it's going to be Daniel. It's kind of his last chance. Lando will swim in the glorious sea of championships in the future for sure.
You are great Nico!!! Y didn't know much about this track but seeing this I think its mega...thanks Nico and great lap Man jaja grettings from Argentina
I think Williams will make a huge step forward next year. They have made huge progress this year with their limited resources so I think they will be able to capitalize on the budget caps and be very efficient with the budget caps in improving their car and fingers crossed get higher up the grid. I’d say Aston and McLaren will benefit as well.
For me it has to be Ricciardo for 2022. He's a driver that flourishes in close, wheel-to-wheel, late-braking battles, and the new regulations will hopefully make that a norm. Also, I have no doubt Andreas and the team will build a great F1 car.
This is inccredible. I was looking for f1 gaming tips and happen across @Nico Rosberg's youtube channel that I didn't know exists, and he doles out some super cool racing stories?!! One of the GOATS, awesome video, so glad I found the channel
I enjoy your videos, I have been an F1 fan since the days of your father. My favorite season is still 1984 when Niki Lauda won his third championship by half a point. Thanks for taking the time out to show all of us these tracks.
Aston Martin definitely has a chance at being at the top early on next season, with the new shaped car, I think seb will shine as he's a quick learner. Obviously max and lewis will be in the battle, they're really good drivers
Well based on the amount of overtakes this season and his actual skills as a driver, I actually think that Sebastian Vettel could do great next season, though Aston Martin needs to step up too, he needs a better car than he has now, in order to be able to perform as well as he actually can. Alonso is also honorable mention for next season too.
I think mclaren because they seem to be getting there and they have been improving a lot since 2019 and are more closer to top teams this season so they think next one they will be fighting with Mercedes and Red Bull
I definitely think, and hope it’s haas. They have almost completely abandoned their hopes for this season(part of plan and decided way earlier) to focus on development for 2022. They will also have the most wind tunnel time(I think) so that’s definitely going to be a huge help if utilised correctly. I just hope they have a better driver lineup **cough cough** Mazepin.
I'm a Seb fan and i really hope he does well. But i'd say Max, for sure, he's a machine. I constantly gotta remind myself that he's just 23 years old, the kid is a veteran already. He can and will excel at anything you throw at him.
Nigel Mansel's analysis of what happened in Spa and how they could have set the cars up to race in an interview with Peter Windsor was spot on in my opinion.
Aston Martin looks like they have a really big potential. They have plenty of money thanks to Mr. Stroll he might be spend a lot on next regulation. That's my hope. I've been a big fan of AM sports car from young.
Ferrari and McLaren for sure. Due to cost Cap and they are currently not overspending like Mercedes and Red Bull. Biggest surprise I believe will be Aston Martin. Therefore making it for a much much more competitive experience for everyone.
Nico, Thanks that you use the Assetto Corsa version of the Zandvoort track. I am the maker of the 2019 skin pack you used here with the billboards, orange dixi's and Dutch ambulances... Thank you again... Breetings from Arthur Vince.
I think Williams will pull a blinder next year. They might not have the same personnel from the crazy 90's , but hopefully the cash influx can show some creativity. But I think drivers like Seb and Gasly will be good with more stable rears. But it is such a tossup that if Haas wins 2021 constructors with Latifi being Wdc I wouldn't be surprised
Watching this video after the race, the lines in turn 3 ended up being totally different - braking a bit harder to take the outside line. Also, some drivers managed to find other overtaking spots using different lines and going for the outside of some corners. Better than I thought it would be.
Personally I think William's will do the best this year, the team they have setup around them is looking really promising, lots of experience and a good financial backing always helps, if they get Alex or Nick de vries in the team that's really going to help, PS I do belive latiffi should stay...
I would like to see Williams perform well next year, they have a big project and I would like that George Russell stays one more year and see what can he do with a more competitive car at Williams.
Anonymoose obviously George deserves the Merc but I would like to see him do amazing things with Williams and I would definitely like to see Alex back, I think all F1 fans wants to see him back
This may be a hot take, but I would love for Haas to ace the reg change and be competitive from the off. I mean they’ve been developing that car all year already… hope they get it right!
I think it'll be Aston Martin. If you look back at the last few years, Racing Point/Force India was always the team that was spending the least amount of money and they were still pretty good and often even challenged for podiums. Now in 2022 there will be a budget cap so every team is almost spending the same money. If Racing Point/Force India/Aston Martin were always getting good results by spending a lot less, they should theoretically be able to outperform everyone when everyone is spending less money as well. With Seb and Lance they also have the perfected line up consisting of a young, talented driver and a very experienced 4-time world champion. I think they're gonna be the best team with the new regulations (Btw sorry for my bad English sometimes, I'm not a native English speaker).
Tom Coronel would say by the hugenholtzbocht: 3/4de van de bocht inperen naar boven te hard erin en het momentum maken, opbouwen en dan wordt je echt gekatapulteerd!
I think Checo will definitely up his game a lot this coming season. Man has experience and will show now what time has been holding from us for a while.
I think Ferrari will be the best performing team, as ever since the agreement they've been way off mark, I'm sure they've thrown everything into the new car. Also, hoping Williams can get back up to the front runners!!!
Always liked Nico but turned a corner this weekend. Your punditry for Sky F1 was second to none at Zandvoort. I love how direct and decisive you are with your questions and opinions. It’s refreshing to hear such conviction. I am hooked and long may it continue…❤️
Charles leclerc. Ferrari's been working on their 2022 car really hard thrue the last year and have been really focused on that, the regulations will help them to improve even more their performance. Leclerc is a brilliant driver and if ferrari get the best car, he even has a chance of winning the championship title
Carlos has shown how he can adapt brilliantly to a new car and with the hope ferrari will build a competitive car, my money is on him. (I want Daniel to win tho)
This is my first video on Nico's channel, enjoyed it very much! I also like that just after the intro it doesn't go: "first a word from the sponsor of this video". :)
Haas have to have a strong season next year. Mick has had a great start so far in F1 and the team has basically poured all their development into making the 2022 car as strong as possible. They're for sure going to end up 4th or 5th in constructors.
2022 Top performer will be Mercedes again, they have the best engine and the evolution is close to frozen and the chassis seems to be the 2nd best just behind Red Bull. My feeling is 2022 wont shake things up a lot.
You're probably right but don't forget, they're all completely new cars based on new and different regs for 2022. For most of mercs dominance, we've had only small updates to the existing cars year after year.
The driver who performs the best will definitely be Daniel Ricciardo - he has been driving with a severe medical condition this whole time. Danny Boy will finally perform testicular reduction surgery so he's not tripping on his nutsack when he's alternating between the accelerator and brakes.
Hi Nico, The Hugenholz corner, you took the inside line. You're supposed to go up the banking an then out like a v-shape. Supposedly it is 0.2s faster? Your line is the one you did before the track rebuild. Lewis started with your inside line and later he went up the banking.👍 I'm pretty convinced that there will be a lot of overtaking this weekend, I think in the banked corners...😁

I would like to think that Mclaren is going to be competing for the constructors next year, I believe Zak Brown and Seidel can nail the regulation changes
Plus they have two very good drivers.
@@leecoates4082 did you not watch monza?
I believe Aston Martin should be strong next year. They are the only ones with a midfield car that knows what to do with a small budget since they have been doing that for years, yet making competent cars. With their new factory and staff from Redbull, the genius of Sebastian Vettel, they will be something to look out for.
How about mclaren?
@@LG-dt7lg McLaren never had a small budget…
@@MashiatCOD99 mclaren had the same budget as aston for the last 3 years. :)

Now I know how the "very high concentration face" of Nico's looks like

With the spirit of improving the race quality with more chances to overtake drivers with strong race craft likeAlonso would excel very well.
the chance of one team doing it better is high
Last two ‘resets’ in F1 didn’t provide close racing at all, on the contrary, it was the most uneven racing. But we’ll see how this years goes

Nico: probably everybody except Williams

Kimi’s presidential campaign will make Finland great again
Carlos sainz will perform best along with ferrari, because, carlos, like kimi is super adaptable, and ferrari will have more aero development time than rb and amg.
I think Williams will have the biggest improvement . If the rumours are true and Alex Albon goes to Williams , he can help them build back up . As he can pull the team upwards with driving skill from F1 and DTM. Use these skills from DTM to help racing and overtaking !

Nico Rosberg is one very cool dude.Utterly open and honest, no pretense at all. Considering the world he grew up in; Montecarlo and the top end of formula racing, he is wonderfully accessable and down to earth. I would love to have a cup of coffee with him.
thank you for telling me more on f1 . i have just improved in my f1 game. Thank you nico. you are always my best f1 driver.
It could be alpine but they are the real wild card. As they are the only one with a renault engine. But Alonso stills seems hungry to win more and the team looks in a good direction.
Definitely Bernd Maylander, we will be seeing him driving in front a lot in 2022.
Driver of the Year!
Gotta be Alpine. Already a dark horse in this year’s championship standings very excited to what that do next year.
My first thought as well
El plan
Nice
Thanks a lot you for providing these guides. It really helps in racing
Mhm, shame u couldnt join f1rc alpine.
I really can't believe Gunther's statements. Williams though, they may shoot up to the top for real
I hope it works out for Haas after years of backmarking and basically abandoning this year. At least they should become a solid pointscoring team.
I think McLaren becaus over the last year or so they have improved the most. Hopfully Riccardo adjusts his aproach to the car.
You are great Nico!!! Y didn't know much about this track but seeing this I think its mega...thanks Nico and great lap Man jaja grettings from Argentina
the picture behind him contain so many memories ,and i love it
I think that Pierre is gonna have a great season next year and hopefully more people take notice of how much he’s outperforming that car
I think Williams will make a huge step forward next year. They have made huge progress this year with their limited resources so I think they will be able to capitalize on the budget caps and be very efficient with the budget caps in improving their car and fingers crossed get higher up the grid. I’d say Aston and McLaren will benefit as well.
eheheheh
For me it has to be Ricciardo for 2022. He's a driver that flourishes in close, wheel-to-wheel, late-braking battles, and the new regulations will hopefully make that a norm. Also, I have no doubt Andreas and the team will build a great F1 car.
Fingers crossed 🤞
He’s lost his mojo
🥲
Lol
Well based on the amount of overtakes this season and his actual skills as a driver, I actually think that Sebastian Vettel could do great next season, though Aston Martin needs to step up too, he needs a better car than he has now, in order to be able to perform as well as he actually can.
Alonso is also honorable mention for next season too.
I think mclaren because they seem to be getting there and they have been improving a lot since 2019 and are more closer to top teams this season so they think next one they will be fighting with Mercedes and Red Bull
If Danny pulls his own weight then yes.
Grande Nico! È stato un piacere sentirti commentare la gara su Sky Motori Italia! È sempre un piacere seguirti!🔝
Ogni volta non vedo l'ora di sentirti in cabina con Vanzini e Genè, sei il migliore Nico
1000% agree!
It has to be Mazepin... he proved us all wrong getting the fastest lap at Spa, that shows how good he is.
He'll be the 2022 WDC 🏆🙌
Wasn't it Tsunoda?
@@johnnytopgun6414 No Mazespin actually
Yeah of course.. after he takes out everyone off the race
Nigel Mansel's analysis of what happened in Spa and how they could have set the cars up to race in an interview with Peter Windsor was spot on in my opinion.
I love that track; banking corners. I little dangerous, too. Very gooooood content, tnks a lot!
Aston Martin looks like they have a really big potential. They have plenty of money thanks to Mr. Stroll he might be spend a lot on next regulation. That's my hope. I've been a big fan of AM sports car from young.
They have one of the greatest drivers to ever sit in a formula 1 car to boot
@@tommyholmes3749 yeah, that's right!
Ferrari and McLaren for sure. Due to cost Cap and they are currently not overspending like Mercedes and Red Bull. Biggest surprise I believe will be Aston Martin. Therefore making it for a much much more competitive experience for everyone.
Aston lol
I think it would be Red Bull who will perform the best becuz they literally have a genius designer on their side (Adrian Newey)
Yeah but they developed this years car too long. They’re about 2 months back compared to Mercedes, MCL etc. they’ll be on the back foot
Newey has been doing less and less work on the cars and stepping away from f1 iirc
Id say merc redbull and Ferrari are the obvious choices
It was nice that it didn't record the audio as it was interesting to hear your timing on gear change in relation to the track, entries and exits.
Williams struggle in first 2 Free Practice
Jeez that junior crash story that’s a frightening incident glad all worked out okay in the end.
Glad to see another track analysis video from the GOAT
I would like to see Williams perform well next year, they have a big project and I would like that George Russell stays one more year and see what can he do with a more competitive car at Williams.
nah man, george deserves a championship winning car, like the merc. BUT, I would love to see albon in that seat and see what he can do
Anonymoose obviously George deserves the Merc but I would like to see him do amazing things with Williams and I would definitely like to see Alex back, I think all F1 fans wants to see him back
This may be a hot take, but I would love for Haas to ace the reg change and be competitive from the off. I mean they’ve been developing that car all year already… hope they get it right!
Imagine Mazespin on a podium 🤐
Only 5 seconds slower than Max. Take notes drivers, this guy is in his prime.
Don't think so, Perez is trash
Carlos Sainz is going to perform the best out of the pack taking in consideration his solide performance at Ferrari
I think George will be the best relative to this season next year, but only if he’s at Mercedes.
Carlos has shown how he can adapt brilliantly to a new car and with the hope ferrari will build a competitive car, my money is on him. (I want Daniel to win tho)
Hass. They clearly spent nothing on their car this year so much money for next season
Haha
Lol clearly Hass constructors

Haas have to have a strong season next year. Mick has had a great start so far in F1 and the team has basically poured all their development into making the 2022 car as strong as possible. They're for sure going to end up 4th or 5th in constructors.
I’m thinking Albon , His chance had been taken away and would love to see him win and get his elbows out
Finally, ive been lookin forward to your track analyses.
Who's back here in 2023 to refresh their memory? Nico does this the best
Mick Schumacher as he always does better in second year
sure but only in a best team and he won 2 race in his second year when his rookie teammate won 4
LOL, say what? 😂

Hi Nico,

You're supposed to go up the banking an then out like a v-shape.

Your line is the one you did before the track rebuild.
Lewis started with your inside line and later he went up the banking.👍
I'm pretty convinced that there will be a lot of overtaking this weekend, I think in the banked corners...😁
