    Yes! thanks for reminding of “The Bandit Queens” by Parini Shroff. The storyline does a good job of depicting supportive female friendships as well as a community drawing together for the common good.
    I am now so curious about “The Stromness Dinner” but I won’t be able to get to for months.

      Ah, but it's fun to have something to look forward to! The Bandit Queens is one I need to read again. I'll definitely pick up whatever she writes next.

    Good timing because I’ve been questioning why I spend so much time on BookTube when nobody there knows me personally, and if I DID meet up with anyone, it would require me having to brush my hair (!) and possibly risk getting a virus from them, etc.😆 In any case, I realize that I spend time on BookTube because it’s so much fun, and I enjoy being with other people who love reading as much as I do. I’m grateful that I can experience this joy of community without brushing my hair.🤣

      MJ, I'm happy you spend time here! And I think there's plently of evidence that I've enjoyed this community without a proper brushing myself. 😂

    Great answers to these questions, Priscilla. There is joy in seeing that a favorite person has posted a video.
    If you were to reread a Sittenfeld novel in the near future, what would it be?

    • @EveningReader
      @EveningReader  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, Sonia. There is joy in that...and on that note, I miss seing your videos. If I were to re-read Sittenfeld, I think I would pick American Wife, or maybe Prep. The two I haven't read are Eligible and The Man of My Dreams. What would be yours? Hope all is well with you!

    Hi! You have mentioned books and authors that I have had on my radar and they slipped off, like Curtis Sittenfeld, or new to me books that sound interesting and go on my TBR. For the friendship question I immediately thought of Truth & Beauty by Patchett. That story really stayed with me.
    Also, I did want to say something about your comment on followers who were here commenting and then gone. Why? I started with your channel at the very beginning and enjoyed the content but somehow maybe when I created a second account I didn't see some of the creators I subscribed to before? Then it was months before I got to everyone again. Happy to be here. I just wanted to give you one explanation as to how this can happen. :>)

      I loved Truth and Beauty. Did you read Lucy Grealy's memoir?
      Thanks for the explanation on people disappearing. I know as a viewer that sometimes I move away from channels just because there's only so much time and I go down different rabbit holes. But as someone with a channel, I also like for people who watch and leave comments to know they mean something to me. And on that note, sorry for the late reply! The holidays took over!

    Hey Evening Reader. Books I found made me laugh were these totally unserious crime novels: The Finlay Donovan Series starting with Finlay Donovan Is Killing It by Elle Cosimano and the darkly funny and witty Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz . I tried to read Curtis Sittenfeld's novel Romantic Comedy. Still on occasion chipping away at it (say if I am stuck somewhere without a book and I can read on my phone 😝haha! Maybe the second half is better! Just finished Lonesome Dove! oh my, my heart was crushed. Now reading Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison so I think I will be in the market for a lighter book soon! Be well and see you next time.

      Marcia, I read the first book in the Finlay Donovan series. It was cute! It's funny you mention Magpie Murders because we have been watching the show this week. Just the right vibe. Don't feel bad if Romantic Comedy isn't working for you. Too many other books to read! Oh gosh, Lonesome Dove followed by Song of Solomon...you will definitely be in need of lighter fare!

    I hope The Stromness Dinner gets some more readers! It's just so good and now is the perfect time for that novel. I agree with everything you say about the joys of BookTube. And I also do wonder about the viewers who disappear. Was it something I said?! Okay, okay I'm going to get off the stick and read The Animators! Soon.
    I totally understood what you were trying to say about a fun failed buddy read. Disliking a book together has its kicks! Fun answers, Priscilla.

      I have you to thank for The Stromness Dinner! Maybe I'll re-read that in December. I feel like all my previous plans have gone out the window...
