Sir, I hope you're making a fine living with this channel, because you are helping the rest of us keep ourselves sharp and up to date with all the tools for today's business world.
Copilot was advertised as available waay before it even was. That was so confusing because ppl thought the preview version, or the free version was the actual Pro version. Then the subscription website wasn't even working. So I hope what my trusted mentor is presenting to us is actually the real Copilot Pro
Kelvin you're the best at what you do... you do know how to communicate to your viewERs in a simple concise manner.. that's why I don't get tired watching and listeninģ to you... Thank you for the knowledge sharing...💙💙
Based on its capabilities, Copilot performs a function similar to other Excel features. I was actually expecting a significant transformation comparable to Power Query or Dynamic Arrays.
This is lame, i can do all these functions quicker using the mouse and keyboard. Co-pilot looks like a feature for people who dont know how to use excel, its not a productivity enhancement for pros
Seems more like a tool for people who don't really know excel too well. And that's fine really... you'd be surprised how many otherwise intelligent people don't know how to use a simple pivot table or put in a conditional format. But advanced excel users can likely pass... they can do this stuff in their sleep. Then again, I'm sure this video only scratches the surface. I'm wondering if it works with Power Query and some of the more advanced features. It's also worth mentioning that with the subscription, you get the CoPilot in other programs like Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. I saw a PowerPoint demo, and it really did seem pretty useful. But not for me though... it's not worth the money for what I typically do, but to each his own.
Not to mention, business will be handing a large language model ai all their customers personal info. If the copilot has access to say and order sheet with addresses and phone numbers then it has access to other stuff. AI will likely never be used in government business.
For business, Copilot is just too expensive. The licensing model doesn’t work. Microsoft need to build an E5+ stack and roll it into that. I am a board member for a 30k+ UK plc.
Maybe your buisness model is wrong bro. Implement own Ai solutions instead outsorceing it, if you really need it. Copilot simply does things faster and easier, but isn’t necessary, like all Ai tools.
@@Ether0Our model is fine, “bro” 😊 I see you’re not familiar with the MS business model. They will eventually crash the price for enterprise. They always do.
Depends on your seats and true up. 100,000 user business here and it's significantly cheaper. But still extortionate. The true up costs and license changes could be brutal (especially if Azure is anything to go by recently)
@@iseptimus For us, it’d add £1.1m to our monthly overhead. But the ROI is too niche; there isn’t £1m of upside in automating slide decks. That’s not how you create value.
This would definitely make the 365 subscription very sweet, I wonder why they haven't done it already, probably because they couldn't handle the amount of users yet
I've been trying to get Copilot 365 to do the most basic tasks in Excel for a couple weeks, including formatting, and it refuses. So far the preview is garbage.
I know Microsoft is still working on Copilot and that they're doing great things with it-internally. I hope they'll let some of that power loose for subscribers to make use of soon. Until then, the cost is prohibitive for the small amount it can do. I will say the beta does a better job of rewriting emails and short blog posts without sounding like someone trying to show off their vocabulary. It's much better at direct and simple while still sounding professional.
If I have to adjust the data for the AI to understand it seems like it’s not worth the extra cost. And I agree, this should be included in MS 365 subscription.
Dear Kevin, Excellent inclusion of the audio track in your videos. I hope everyone follows your lead. Congratulations for making your videos easier to understand.👏👏👏👏👏
Oh wow. This looks awesome. I'm curious how much data before it performs too slowly. And what is the success rate. I don't know how many failures were excluded from the video. And I wonder how it performs with poorly built spreadsheets. I've encountered many awful spreadsheet designs. And lastly, how well does it diagnose errors in the spreadsheets. If it can do that well, it would be a massive time saver.
Our company looked at this. We don’t see the benefit to customers. It was the same with offshoring call centres; cheaper to do but destroys customer experience. We gained 13% market share from not doing it.
Moreover, AI doesn’t pay taxes; and taxes are required. In addition, AI doesn’t buy a lunch to make commercial real estate viable. Simple example to illustrate interconnected economies within towns and cities.
Welcome to the subscription cost model. Service layering is becoming too expensive. Our users also hate the change frequency. You don’t need new monthly versions.
Been using M365 Copilot since it was in private preview. For now, it's all hype. If you are an Excel power user, you won't be impressed. However, when it does improve, it'll change the way you work.
I adore your channel, you are so very intelligent and inspiring. I recently enrolled in a data science course and really enjoyed it your videos. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
My colleague is using it in a corporate setting and the dual issue of all data in cloud/sharepoint as well as everything needing to be in a table is a blocker for full use. There are some features which will help our marketing team but beyond that, we need a big change over time.
I don't see these as blockers. Tables were required for Excel to do lots of functions before Copilot came along. OneDrive is just cloud storage, and who isn't storing data in clouds now? MS offers a free account. The bigger problem is the data limit size. Kevin is the 2nd YTuber to demo Copilot + Excel in depth, he also noticed that Copilot struggles with large datasets, and had to truncate the table to get Copilot to work. Large datasets are a huge reason for getting computers to analyze information. Truncating data is a non-starter.
Chat GPT is a language model and not very good at math and science (status April 2023). My main experience in this area has been using it in a Harvard microbiology course (where I struggled, due to lack of background knowledge). It was wrought with mistakes in scientific notation and tended to just make stuff up. That said, Chat GPT can throw together a concept or campaign outline in the blink of an eye, especially if prepped correctly. Copilot, not yet, IMHO. Remark: I am quite good at prompt engineering, so that is less the issue…
Do you know if copilot can write a formula to find a specific value that'sassociatedwith a word/somebtext, let's use Rent as an example, in a Profit and Loss spreadsheet? The reason I ask is the line that my Rent might be in line 24 during one period and line 22 in another so a formula that pulls the value out of the same cell each time won't work for me.
Kevin when I asked Copilot to create a line chart (twice) it said: " apologize for any confusion. I am a text-based AI and do not have the ability to create or manipulate sheets in your workbook. I can provide you with instructions on how to create a PivotTable that shows the profit by month using the data in your active table. Would you like me to do that?" Very strange!
Hey Kevin, great explanation as usual. I'm wondering if people using Copilot in Excel know to need how to prompt or it doesnt matter how we ask our questions? I try to teach people how to prompt on copilot (the bing search tool) itself and I've seen considerable difference.
Kevin, I did not see your disclaimer of any support from Microsoft (or is it not the case?). I think your examples in this video are over simplistic with perfect column titles and classical data scenario. For real world data, my opinion is that at this stage it is not worth the subscription fee. Google is still a better choice for me for the cost alone. Hopefully, Copilot will become better in future and may be worth subscription then.
Just the time savings alone from Copilot generating formulas and formatting is worth the monthly cost. Not convinced this technology will be putting data analysts out of work ... yet
Excellent explanation. However, I and many like me, have not gotten PRO yet. Could you explain how to use Copilot to get an Excel formula going correctly by using regular Copilot, as in throug the Microsoft browser?
I´m quite dissapointed. Probably in a couple of years this could be quite impressive. But for now, two suscriptions for a "copilot" that does the things you already know in excel.... totally for begginers.
I can only access copilot in the browser, not the app. Tried several times to save file to Onedrive. It is saved there successfully. However, Copilot is still greyed out in the ribbon. Why is this?
Kevin please make a video about how to fix an issue about steam having problem creating an account because I need a steam account but when I've done inserting the personal info, it keeps resetting when I pressed the button "continue"
Please make a video of Copilot and excel with .PDF or .PNG files that have excel data on them, tables, etc., or even a video that holds different frames with data, so as to not take .PNG and analyze step by step (maybe a macro could do it)
Need to be able to add lines of the same text to a cell in a column. Is there any way to automate this? adding the line within the cell is my struggle.
Useful only to people who sucks in Excel. Not something I need. Btw, it's ashamed that both Copilot and Power Automate can only be used if the files are stored in the cloud. There are tons of people and companies who have their files stored in their own network drives. Is Microsoft suggesting us to throw away our expensive, already-setup storage devices and start paying monthly for the cloud?
Can you compare 2 sheets and see differences like which records are missing in each sheet? Or do a closest match like customer matches from one data sheet compared to the current customer master?
i saved in onedrive, I enabled autosave. I have the necessary subscriptions. The copilot button is still grey in my app. I can use office and open excel spreadsheets in edge browser and the Copilot button is active. In ALL MY OTHER Microsoft Apps (Word, Note, Powerpoint) the Copilot button is active. I am ONLY having the grey button in excel. WHY? Please help.
It seems like co-pilot's capabilities are far behind things like GPT 4o. I can have GPT create a chart, change the colors, gradients, etc., all without needing to know how to do anything. That's frustrating. I don't need it to tell me how to do what I already know how to do. I was also surprised by the slow operating speed. Maybe when this has matured for a few years it might be useful, but for now I'll give it a hard pass.
