      Hey Strands, we hear you. The thing about starting to do anything is that you're almost guaranteed to suck at it.
      “Dude, suckin’ at something is the first step to being sorta good at something.” - Jake the Dog.
      To me (Kevin), the best dancing doesn't come from the most technically trained, but from those who have confidence to own the way that they move and those that show that they're having fun, because dancing is supposed to be fun. :)
      If you'd like to practice at home try clicking the link in the description! You have to use a debit/credit card for a 7 day free trial but we have a money back guarantee. Happy dancing! :)

      you just got to believe that one day you will be good at dancing. each lesson you’re just one step closer to becoming a good dancer. each lesson you’re improving in a way. each lesson you’re a better dancer than last time.
      it just takes a matter of time.
      and i’ve been in many dance classes and i can surely say that nobody will judge you harshly. dance has been always a safe haven for many people; including me. it’s supposed to be a friendly environment where people just want to dance. mostly everyone will be focused on learning the choreography... yes, they will notice you but they won’t be sitting there judging you for the whole lesson.
      dancing is for fun right? so don’t worry about other people, worry about your progress !! and consider it another step to happiness !!!

    I used to want to dance for so long, but I never found the right tutorials or the right style. Not till I got into kpop which opened a whole door of opportunities. I loved the style and found tons and tons of tutorial videos, then finally had the motivation to begin. Now I just hope that its not too late to start dancing..

    I started dancing when I was three years old until I was 10 and then I quit. Since dance was the only sport I really enjoyed, to preform on stage and to feel the music, I decided to take dance classes again. But the problem is (now 6 years later) I have lost my “talent” and everyone else is so much better than me and I can’t seem to enjoy it because of that. I just have a hard time picking up the dance moves and to memorize the choreography, what should I do I really want to be a good dancer?

    • @cringesh1t427
      @cringesh1t427 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Linnéa this is a really late answer and for that I’m sorry. I hope you didn’t give up on dancing. I rece rly started and honestly I thought I’d be pretty bad at picking up choreography what helped me is picturing the move in my head but..feeling it at the same time. I’m not so struck on getting it right the first time. Sometimes it takes time for a certain step to engrave itself and t takes me forever to get it right. Just....don’t think. Feel it. Feel the step make the move your own by adding your own fluidity or strength. And “talent” doesn’t really go away. What you learned was a long time ago but with practice maybe it’ll resurface

    • @ovn_tamil
      @ovn_tamil 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm super late, but this helped me get over this! First see the dancers dance it first, see it repeatedly, then try to remember them in your mind, repeat the process until you could just get the choreography on your mind. Then start dancing with small movements (these don't have to be precise or sharp, it's just a place holder), don't overwork it. Just feel the choreography through your body. Slowly amp it up when you feel right. Then try combing whole choreo in a single take or double take. Analyse the footage or use mirror to catch the faults, revise it, make the movements sharp and clean. Put all together and the problem is solved!

    I am not a freestyler but once I went to audition for SYTYCD and realized how much freestyling matters. I started doing freestyle after that and I think I have more mobility as I listen to music as I had before. The problem is now that I have seen so many freestylers etc, what i think about is what do you listen to when you freestyls? Do you move and move fast to fit the music? Or so do you listen to the music? And then move? What if you are listening to the music but cant react to it? Lyrics or instruments? What to do when you're stuck and then end up doing the same movement again and again?

    • @keoni8818
      @keoni8818 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You listen to whatever part of the song you want my man. You can listen to the drums, lyrics, acoustics, the snares. You can hit whatever beat you like. I personally listen to the song for a second first and concentrate on finding Rhythms I wanna hit. But you wanna stay on beat. If there’s a clap every 2 counts then hit that. Whatever is the main beat/rhythm of the song you wanna use that so you don’t just look like your rushing. Really sit in your music. Getting rid of repeating can be helped by exploring your freestyle by trying concepts or different moves and learning new foundation. My trainer Bryan Dang has taught me to groove whenever I start to get lost. It take times but after you practice enough you should be able to freestyle without repeating moments

      I'm not steezy but I hope I can help in some way!
      Be confident! Stage presence is about energy so whatever type of dance you are doing make sure to know the emotions and feeling to portraynin each and every movemet and then emit that energy. Go full out. One way that I personally use to kinda fuel my energy is the audience. I am here performing because of the audience I want to show them a good show. Once I let go of being so focused because I don't want to embarrass myself or the reasoning for wanting to do well being 'selfish' and I start thinking about the audience and almost get into a mindset that I owe them something (but also I don't think they are judging me) and that they are there to have fun so I should deliver that while also having fun (cause you know fun is contagious 😂) I can let go of all worries and just really dance full out. Just think that is the moment you have worked so hard for and it's coming once so enjoy it! The audience is there to support you! Also facial expressions play a huge part in stage presence, emit the same energy that you emit through your dance with your eyes and facial expressions
      Idk if I explained it quite well sorry I'm not really good at explaining things but I hope this somehow helped!

    Well i believe i do have the potential to be a good dancer, i have been dancing for 1 year now and there is hardly any improvement, i even joined a dance class , my sir is a good dancer but the problem is he doesn't teach the basics , he straight away goes to teaching a choreography , and even while doing that he hardly corrects me, he just tells me whats going wrong. I have hard time grasping things , its maybe becuase i lack focus but eventually i get it , i need a teacher who is patient with me , and actually corrects me and does,'t only tells me whats wrong , however there is only dance class near my house, and when i try to learn basics online , i get frustrated because i am not able to grasp it easily
    I have so many problems
    1. I don't hear the beat and always in a hurry to do the steps
    2. I don''t have control while dancing , there are some steps where you gotta control
    3. I feel like i force steps
    4. Many people have pointed out this that when i dance , it looks more like doing steps than dancing

    This sounds so great but I feel like I don't have any options on learning how to dance. I literally live in the middle of nowhere without any dance studios in my area or people who do what I would love to do, how I would love to dance. Nothing fitting to my age and also money is a problem. The only thing I have is my little too small wardrobe mirror in my tiny room and a Spotify playlist. Is this enough to improve some day? I sometimes feel so down from these thoughts that there is just nothing for me but I can't help it and still have this deep desire in me and my heart hurts when I see peopls who are able to do exactly what I wanted to do for so long..
    ...Well, that sounded dramatic..

    Thanks to STEEZY, I'm finally going to start practicing more dancing at home. I really like K-pop and have a lot of rodel models (Chaeryeon from Iz*One, Yeonjun from TXT, Chungha, and Seungyeon from CLC) but I just felt that I wasn't that good to dance. But after watching your videos, I encouraged myself to practice more at home. I want to dance amazing, just like my k-pop favs, but practice is the only way I can achieve that. I usually just danced 2 times per month, but now I'm going to try dancing 4 times a week, 2 hours. I can't dance more (due to college assignments and other responsabilities), but I'm still young, 13 years old, and I have enough time to be the amazing dancer I want to be.

      @@Tururu134 I usually watch the choreography video I want to dance a loooot of times. Then I practice, after 3 or 4 days watching the video. When I think I'm doing well, I film a video of me dancing, then I compare it to the actual choreography and see my errors. My mom has a mirror in her room, so I use it when I want to check some moves I'm not sure about.
      Oh, and I usually pick the one that dances the best, and watch carefully.Hope this helps you :3

      @@Tururu134 I don't know, I'm so sorry. I don't know a lot of genres and styles, so I'm very sorry. But, I think for a begginner (like me because I'm still having problems, but I'm improving a lot) needs to choose choreographies where the movements aren't to challenging. For me, I started with choreographies like Bboom Bboom (momoland) and Fancy from Twice. So I guess pop music(?. And, then you can try styles like hip hop and stuff like that. I admire you. You can do Hip Hop! And for the question that what style I use, I guess every style I see that interests me(?. I don't know what style is this, but I dance HIP, Hands Up and Black dress well.

    I don’t think my problem is being confident, or being creative.
    What’s the way most people get comfortable with dancing to the point where they don’t need to follow a set dance?
    Practicing fighting I’ve went to classes for in the past and yoga on my own has made me want to give dancing a try in my free time as of late, so I’m in shape enough.
    Should I just keep learning moves/practicing choreography until I get better? Or do people have like a “this song follows this beat/pattern; here are all my dance moves for this beat/pattern” or a “only dance to songs you already know” rule set to follow?

    • @blackmailpotato9616

      Practice it as much as possible. Eventually muscle memory will kick in. Also try doing the moves in your head and physically throught your day even without music. Also I used to have this problem and it really comes down to knowing your basics, if you know your basics, you know HOW to do those moves, and you know how your body works it becomes a lot easier with practice. Also try not to think too much about it. I find that sometimes if I concentrate to hard on remembering the moves it just makes it harder to remember and then I'm not on time. Try to relax and feel the dance. But really just practice practice practice
