Breakers killed the hobby. Now we have CT scanners to think about. Then there's the price of hobbies, megas, etc...out of control. A 12 year old kid will never pull something retail.
I'll tell you what I don't appreciate and that is the overall expense of these products now. I can't stand when breakers and hobbyists defend pricing on releases like Chrome Update by saying the cards cost more to produce. GTFO with that garbage. They Don't cost Topps $4 a card to make. They're way too much money and the lower dollar figure releases' QC is awful. I went big on Stadium Club this year and I'll never buy them again. I had so many cards with corner damage, surface issues and print lines. Even the 2 boxes of Logofractor I bought - there were print lines all over the logofractor cards themselves. Topps is pricing a good portion of the community out of the hobby and I decided after stepping into the hobby again for the first time in decades, that I'm not going to buy anymore Topps releases despite my love and passion for the hobby. It really sucks but I'm not going to spend my hard earned money on awful QC (quality control) releases that are a bit easier on the wallet, or Chrome cards where a hobby is $400. No way. Topps is ruining the hobby. That's my take. The prices are stupid now and I regret even jumping back in. It's a waste of money. They've tilted the hobby toward breakers who IMO are ruining the hobby.
@@illrips Couldn’t agree more. I honestly feel bad for the kids…they are just pricing them right out of the hobby. Such a shame. Thanks for checking in!
@ I teach 8th grade English and 2 Audio/Video classes. And I coach varsity baseball and cross country in the fall. My son is a junior pitcher/1st baseman and I'm having the time of my life coaching him. What about you?
@@u_s_a_cards Awesome! I teach 6-8 Science/rocketry/GATE and coach baseball/hockey. My son is really into baseball, travel as well. He pitches, 1b and outfield. It’s a def. a good time!
There is no future if kids can’t afford to become collectors. It’s crazy how these companies don’t care about that with these prices. Even retail has pretty much priced out kids and most of those are worthless anyway. So the few that can afford some their just throwing money away.
It’s a shame man, I couldn’t agree more than what you said. Could you imagine a 10 year old asking for a 2-3k hobby box and wondering why they didn’t get it? I hope one day it will go back to normal. Thanks for commenting!
Shit man I’m 23 and can’t afford some of these retail boxes, I’d rather buy single cards for my PC at that point then buy a box and hope for a good card
@@lenonvandersande9939 Yup and that’s I’ve learned to do now but the kid mindset is totally different. They want to rip those packs..I guess it’s the thrill of the chase. But yup, even the prices for a blaster are just ridiculous. Thanks for checking in!
@@Sportscardhustlers I completely get the hype of opening packs, I mean I do it from time to time but man apps like whatsnot and fanatics live makes it so much easier to get a specific card or have a chance at a very high ceiling card for half the price or even more then buying a box. It’s ridiculous but I guess that’s the world we live in now haha.
@ Yea it is. I honestly haven’t gotten into breaks yet, I just watch. It’s really about grabbing a blaster, opening and enjoying that with my kids…how I used to enjoy it when I was their age. They like it and enjoy going to the store to look for what boxes they have. Watching online just doesn’t have the same luster. Now, if we were in it to nail that big card for a cheaper price, then that’s the way to go other than buying singles.
Sorry about that. The video is really meant to drive conversation about where the hobby is going and where it has been in the past. If you go until the end, you would see that. I’ll try to do better next time. Thanks for checking in! 💪🏻💪🏻
If the only people left in the hobby are flippers, the hobby will inplode. see other hobbies. pirces go up, flipper sell to other flippers. prices keep going up. then it all collapses. All it takes are a couple of down years in the sport of the card.
Things I wish I had done different.....I wish I had all the cards back that I put in my bicycle spokes during the 70s!
Haha!! Seriously!
I only buy cards that I like and want to keep.

Man, there are so many teachers in this hobby. I am a teacher/coach myself. Good video!
