Omg I love this guy.
Easily in the top 5 metal guitarists of all time!
I love Jeff Loomis. He's one of my favorite guitarists alive. I love the way he makes his riffs and melodies have so much life and atmosphere. Zero Order Phase is an amazing album. Go pick it up if you haven't yet.
Also, -1 to Guitar World for messing up the title of the song in the vid title and description.
I really like this riff a lot.
Most epic song title of all time.
This guy is so fucking good. You gotta check out his CD, there are so many wicked licks going on!
Thanks Jeff for showing this great riff. Wasn't very hard to learn took me a few minutes to get the hang of it. And for the rest of the song :D
can't say I've ever really listened to Nevermore, but this was sick
Brutal!
I
Duude sweet thanks! =D
i like it, sounds interesting...
there's another video here on TH-cam where Jeff is showing some German fans his half-step down signature guitar. It's Bb,Eb,Ab,Db,Gb,Bb and Eb.
@smacman68 Jeff Loomis, Jeff Loomis rocks. It's not a nevermore song but Jeff Loomis's first song on his EP.
Haha! I allready have this DVD! =P
I allready know this lick! =D So cool.. haha..
nice guitar
@IloveRillettes sure, sometime. I already held this piece of heaven in my hands, absolutely awesome! schecter does a great job, not only with loomis' signature, i like the brand ;)
His tone is perfect.....along with his playing lol.
@dimeowns100 He uses a seven string with all strings tuned down 1/2 step i think. So it is Bb Eb Ab Dd Gb Bb Eb
Badass. I actually like it slowed down. Not quite as slow as he goes, but I can imagine a Black Sabbath type riff using the same notes. Nevermore fucking rocks.
@CurtisRoxAtGuitar it is
it's half step down, he says so on the DVD itself and demonstrates.
doesnt he look the Irate gamer?
Man, this guy is fucking sick!
Does anyone know the song at the start??
=)
@Hellonfrets it's a 7 string but probably B/E/A/D/G/B/e
Somehow I find "shooting fire" pretty amusing. Like "fuck you, I'm a wizard".
What tuning is this song in?
@x0XCruSaDerX0x Lolz, I grabbed my guitar and just played the riff as he does it on the 5th and 3rd string... The fuck do I know if Drop C is good for that, but hey, at least it sounds cool xD
@fredthebluetakman Jeff Loomis - Jato Unit
Man I wish I had a 7 string to learn Songs for Zero Order Phase! =(
shooting fire would be fucking metal too!!!!
What happened with the official website of nevermore?
It says shouting in the video, but the title's wrong.
@flamen89 Muse sounds like Jeff ;)
@SearchInSun Just tune your guitar to the tuning of the song...but then you should set up your guitar and probably get some heavy guage strings
sounds mad
i figured out how to play this on a 6 string its harder than the 7 string way of doing it but it sounds better than copying what he dose on a six string
the video title says shooting fire at a funeral, but when the vidoe starts it syas shouting fire ata funeral. Title fail
Don't really like the tone, but damn the riff is heavy as hell. Kick ass!
well done, someone knows there octave shapes!
@Altered6Chicken whxih is y im a les
He's probably using a Engl SE 670.
The title may be "Shouting Fire at a Funeral,"
but I find "Shooting Fire at a Funeral" very......interesting nonetheless lol
I grabbed my guitar, switched the amp on, took the pick and I was about to start playing before I realised that my guitar had only 6 strings...SHIT >-<
A Cheryl cole advert on a Jeff Loomis video? what the fuck is wrong with TH-cam?
Don't count a beat if you can't keep it constant.
dontfearthesweeper : yes, is
little notes away from "come to life" by alter bridge lol
sounds fairly similar to map of the problematique..
but kickass band
nevermore pwns
@H3lloSE ne
This riff can be played on a 6 string:P
it works on a six string just use the 4th and 6th strings starting on the 7th fret turn to drop c for the best sound dont do it in d you can but it wont sound as cool
cool lick, actually sounds kinda muse-ish imo
@x0XCruSaDerX0x Dude, save money and buy the Schecter Loomis Signature. It worth 1000$. Ten times.
An ENGL.
TUNING, ANYONE?!
this dude he just make riffs the way i wanna hear it...
it's angry.. annnnnnnnnngggggggryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy riffs.
and some pride stuffed inside.
I thought I was the one with the fucked up file name.
HATERS 'R U
Then you have not been listening to jazz alot. And the point is not guitar playing. It's the notes, not the instrumen they are played with.
id like to see jeff loomis mess up on guitar........ but i think its nearly impossible
i hate those spikey parts in the bottom of the banana. i think that makes bananas the deadliest fruit in the world
@x0XCruSaDerX0x sucks huh? >.<
whuat the hell ar u think u are talking to ?!
Lolz guitarworld failed at the title.
Let's see some IMPRESSIVE Rhythm sections now, instead of just a sweep-tapping driven solo and mediocre Rhythm parts.
@simpsons2170 There are two things that one can't deny about Loomis, (a) he is TOO fast (b) his riffs have a heavy overtaking atmosphere, definitely nothing similar to 80s hair metal, so please, stop embarassing yourself and speak with some arguments instead of meaningless irony.
sweet song and great playing but that tone is garbage compared to his actual tone!
raw haring sucks
Nevermore is so not Hair Metal; Motley Crue, Poisen etc though, that''s hair metal.
- And besides Jazz, there's not many guitar parts that's cool; Jazz, Blues and Metal -imo all other is just plain boring
Ginger...he has no soul
