Virtual Book Launch Party Tips with Amani Roberts

- Virtual book launch parties became the only option with the global pandemic, but they are here to stay. Allowing authors a way to invite audiences from all over the world, connect with readers weeks, months and years after their launch on the video platforms they streamed on, and creating an experience that can be enjoyed online and in-person is a tremendous opportunity for authors in 2020 and beyond.
In this video, author Amani Roberts explains what he did to make his virtual book launch party a success, and what he would change for a future party. Joyce from Euclid OH here! I always excited to view your videos! Having a virtual book launch is a great idea...more people can "attend" as well as view again afterwards.
The questions to "plant in the audience" are great for reminding the author for who and why the book was written.

I think so too! I'm so happy he let us share it with you guys. :) The only thing I would have added was an incentive / prize for buying his book during the launch. I talked about that in the video last Friday on virtual book events ... but a book launch should drive people to buy the book and be fun!

The idea of a virtual book launch sounds interesting. Because I am so shy, I think it would make an excellent option that would move me out of my comfort zone, without moving to far too fast.
Yes ... just make sure you have someone there to help you with the Q&A and tech. It makes all the difference to have helpers on hand!
Try it out! Have a friend who can co-host with you which should help out you at ease!

Hello. Thanks for the reply. For the majority of the book launch, I used my own original music mixed with a bunch of underground remixes. I had to stay away from popular music so that the platforms didn’t stop the stream.

How many maximun online platforms can I publish my book in both printed & ebook formatting?
Well when you use a company like Draft2Digital you can pretty wide with the platforms. To my knowledge there isn't a maximum.

I have yet to do a virtual book launch, although I'm filling my idle weekends with virtual book shows.
On the other hand, I've been hitting the Facebook/TH-cam broadcasts hard and regularly and my online sales have responded favorably. I suspect this will remain true until we have a treatment for the MySharona MileyCyrus (as I call it so there's no demonitization). :)
HAHAHAHA :) I think the future is in the hybrid book launches ... either streaming your actual book launch or doing a live and a virtual because there's so much value in doing it virtually. Glad you've been making good use of your down time. :D
I have a question about timing. Let's say your book is available for sale as of, say, August 1st. Would you do the virtual launch before that, after that, or on the very same date?
You could do it whenever you want. Generally I would have it the week of launch but it certainly does not have to be the same day and there is no wrong way to do this. And book events don't have to center around launch at all ... there are many reasons to have a book event.
