Hey Eric! as a 15 year old nirvana and kurt fan and gear nerd, thank you, your channel literally always brightens my day and I must say I admire you and what you do to keep kurts legacy alive. Id do absolutely anything to be able to play some of these guitars haha or even just to have a chat with you about kurts gear. Rock on man
I still remember the exact place on the exact street where I was on the ride home from school when my mom told me what happened. Thirty years and it's still fresh in memory. Thanks for all your videos and for spreading the gear knowledge!
Hey, Thankyou for this lovely post - as a 21 year old Nirvana and Kurt Cobain have always been a large part of my life and your videos help me massively in not only learning things, but being able to recreate different tones from different Nirvana eras. Your videos are hugely underrated! Rest in peace Kurt Cobain
i think the thing i love about Kurt is that he NEVER let money change him, and it's insane that even after the success of Nevermind and In Utero, he was still buying cheap/second-hand guitars and so i didn't feel like i needed to get expensive equipment to actually sound good.
Hey man love your videos if it’s ok me asking with ur mtv build where did u get the pick up case thing like the silver thing that makes it look really long ❤❤❤❤
As a 15 year old that makes terrible financial decisions i would honestly jump at any chance i got to get a univox hiflier i made a deal with my father that i will get a job and he will pay half of any lising i find of one 😂😂😂😂
It might not be too bad of an idea now, if price for them goes up in the next 10 years. It already did since you were 1 - I was looking at them around that time, but I didn't want one, I wanted a guitar that they were based on. Their body style's a smaller copy of Mosrite Ventures Mark I models. I ended up with (more or less) A Ventures Mark V.
Absolutely stoked to see an up to date version of the video. The teaser for the Hagstrom blew my mind!!! Of the Kurt gear you currently have, i think my favorite bits are the ET270, Skystang replica, and Tone Master Twin.
I really love this channel and all the research you put into everything. It's great knowing that you have a passion for this and use your energy to share that with us. I'm a sponge for this kind of nerdy info, but I've never been good at digging around for it, so it's great to have someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and doing the dirty work. And seeing that wall of guitars never stops being cool as hell.
I actually coincidentally bought an In Utero era shirt from an H&M without even realising that it was the 30th anniversary of Kurt’s death. It does say I bought it on the 6th of April, BUT I live in Australia, which at the time I bought it would of been late night on the 5th of April in America. Man… Nirvana, and especially Kurt, is so timeless.
The only reason i dont call you a poser or just another collector is because you clearly care alot about the history of these instruments and the gear that created the sounds we know you and aaron rash are the best
Between the Skystang, the Hi-Flier Phase IV, The ET 270 and the new Hagstrom you own basically every dream guitar of mine haha. Such a fantastic collection. I was extremely close to getting an ET 270 about a year and a half ago but someone else got to it seconds before me. Rest In Power Kurt.
Kurt even to this day stands as one of the most incredible musicians of all time, I'll always see him as an idol and love the music he's produced, if it weren't for him I would have never started playing guitar, and I respect him deeply for it. Fly high Kurt
I coulda sworn that I saw Kurt playing the Epiphone ET270 on January 12, 1990 at Club Satyricon in Portland, OR. That would have been the show immediately preceding the one on January 19. He switched to some kind of import fake Gibson toward the end of the show, which he smashed.
It's truly amazing seeing your gear collection, have you ever considered doing a "You Know You're Right" tone recreation video? Or doing covers of obscure home demos like "Do Re Mi"?
nice white strats! no really, the work and effort you put in your guitars, gear and all of it is amazing and it surprises me that even then it doesn't stop growing! still waiting for that buddy holly strat breakdown...
As a 12 year old Nirvana fan Kurts death makes me sad thank you for keeping his spirit alive ❤ when I found a channel that made me want to play guitar and play Kurt's music so I have to thank you and Kurt for that😊
One day I will get one of those Jaguars, it'll probably be the only actual replica I'll get, so I want to get it exact, including pickguard, third strap button and in left handed form (sorry left handed players) I'm also warming up to the Jagstang, but I don't think I'd do a prototype replica, but rather do my own changes, likely a 3 way toggle switch like on the Jaguar to make switching between neck and bridge pickups easier
I always get curious when you post, these videos always tend to interest me. The black eagle and signed magazine reminds me, my band's old bassist had their silvertone P Bass signed by Krist.
Hi Eric! I love your videos! I was wanting to let you know that there is a fuzz pedal that could likely get the fuzz tones that you are looking for. It is the JHS Muffuletta. It has all of the iconic big muff circuits in it (Including the russian one), and I am sure that one of the circuits could be the right fuzz that kurt would have used. I know that from personal experience with the pedal, it can get very close to the lithium tone.
Whilst nirvana was indeed a popular band. the real fans look deeper in the songs and feel like kurt was actually their friend. Even though im a young fan and wasn't even born when he died, his music and persona had managed to take my heart and changed me for the better. R.I.P KURT ---- Logan from australia
Although guitars are very inaccessible where I live, I hope that one day I can have a room like yours! I wonder what other interesting stuff could be added to your collection. Courtney Carved Tele? Ferrington Mustang? Mosrite? Quad Reverb? Or hell maybe a Veleno lmao? Thank you for always bringing cool info for us nerds
Insane gear collection! So cool, I have a question for tone chasing, does having the modulation effects before the distortion make a difference or does the order not matter so much?
can you please do a video about Krist's tone? i think it would be pretty sick. i know he had a few pedals here and there but i would love to see a video like that
In regards to the big muff debate, maybe you could get a jhs muffaletta and find the right setting that way? Since it has every model, that might be a good starting point for the lithium tone
it would be cool to see a vid based on how much of a difference using a certain guitar makes on a tone. cause you use the univox for bleach but i feel like the jagstang or skystang would sound about the same. idk im kinda deaf
@@NirvanaGuitars Funnily enough, I read somewhere that, in an effort to wean Kurt from his Jag/Mustang image, Earnie fixed up a Telecaster for Kurt to play with. Maybe one of the last guitars he used besides his Univox for You Know You're Right.

I've had this question in my mind for a while now, but when you are learning songs for covers, tones, etc. Is there any specific method you follow in order to transcribe them? I've seen that your playing is always so accurate and the notes are more accurate that any other players. I've wanted to transcribe songs, but it's proven very difficult, especially for more distorted songs. If there are any tips, I would appreciate also!
I used to use tab sites like UltimateGuitar when I first started playing but realized pretty quick that so many Nirvana tabs there are inaccurate. I always use live show footage as my main reference, watching how Kurt plays. If it's a song that has no video footage, I try my best to learn it by ear and guess how Kurt might've played it based off of his playing style. I don't physically write or transcribe any songs when I'm learning them, so I don't have much to offer for advice for that, sorry!

2 great legends who changed music forever

It’s Kurt’s death anniversary of 30 years.

Seemed he was more quantity than quality considering how many guitars he smashed
@@AwkwardHypernerd413I think he only did the guitar smashing to get off stage faster.

I was browsing through some old magazines and saw Kurt had a Strat with Gibson style bridge?
On the very same date, I will unbox my new (to me as it is in prestine condition 😉) Epiphone Et 270 ! Discovered it with your vids. Thanks !
Its my favorite type of video you post! Gj

Great Video! Just curious what mics you use for your voiceover and when you record tones.
You make good stuff

I hope this guy makes a replica of Kurt’s blue telacaster😊

Hi Eric! I’m not here to say much but. Thx for inspiring me to play guitar.
So what you’re saying is, me buying the behringer super fuzz got me literal Kurt shit tone? Hell yeah
Hot rails are humbucker that look like single coil, Perfect for me!
Amazing!
Long live Kurt Cobain
I’ve always thought Earnie had installed a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge position of the
Jag-Stang
Try yellowing the pickup guard for the blue mustang to make it more realistic
You’re still missing a replica of his telecaster you should build one. I’m considering doing that myself actually
So Cool!

Time to make Kurt’s sunburst Telecaster!
Could you make a video at some point where you compare Seymour Duncan Hot Rails - Competition Mustang and Seymour Duncan JB Jr - Roseland Mustang?
When you do get a mesa boogie is there any videos/tones you plan on remaking with it?
@Nirvana_Guitars you can pick up Kurt's Aria Pro II herein South Africa quite easily ... just a matter of shipping 🤔

Only one I can think of that your missing is a Gibson grabber bass, def not a cheap one so I get it lol
