The money changers in Soi Arab (3/1) are really great. The open till late. In fact, I had an early morning flight once, and need to get some Filipino pesos, and was surprised to find them open at 12 midnight. And if you changing large amounts, say 100,000 THB and above, do not be afraid to ask for a better rate.

When you talk English, they respond positively even if their English is broken and pronunciation is hard to understand, but when you try to talk Japanese language with them, it seems they are offended. And you are left wondering, what is wrong. Then when you call them on it, they ask your Japanese language sound rude and not fluent. Japanese language and social customs are complicated. I know a friend who’s also signed up to TF. The scammers are easy to spot…for me that is….they’re usually young and stunning looking, way above my league. Why would a PYT(Pretty Young Thing) be interested in an old man…can’t be for his looks! You have to be foolish to fall for it.
I was a young married Marine serving onboard a navy ship and made a port of call in Thailand and PI. I know many young 18-19-year-olds losing their virginity by older late 20s to ’30s screwing them after getting booze up. I spoke and played board games with Thai girls in the bars. Stormy days it was for many because some had hearts broken. Some went desertion by not returning to the ship. Some went desertion in Australia also. Honestly, Thai people were so lovely and had been single; I would have returned to Thailand if I was in my ’20s.
When people are gullible and venerable their guard is down.. never let your feelings get confused with LUST and LOVE.. I enjoy going to Thailand but when it's time to return home... it's time to say goodbye until next time.
The scam happened to me. I figured it out early on and since there seems to be a lot of these, I decided to play it out. All the way to setting up a crypto acct! Once they knew I had the acct they then out of no where sent me a link to link my legit crypto acct to a Chinese based crypto exchange. At that point I had proved my point and backed out and blocked the person plus reported them. Sad reality of scams these days. :(
These days, requesting a live video chat solves the question. Don’t go to What’s App or Hangouts. Stay on the dating site. An early request to go to another app is a red flag.
Hi peter . Lovely stories . I am a Union delegate at my workplace and use "WHATSAPP" for that purpose. I had a a random girl contact me and say she made a mistake and thought I was her coffee shop supplier. As you remember I am happlily married to a thai who is now 40 but still has the body of a teenager. So I wanted to play and see what this was about . I knew it was a scam from the begining. This girl who said she lived in Australia could not answer basic questions and when she did it took her a day or more to get back to me . I wanted a zoom chat with her and she was busy (naturally). Then she sent a picture of her at the front door of her house . Then It was clearly apparent it was a scammer . The house was clearly American not an Australian house .
My bet on the scammer would be she’ll arrange to meet up, but an accident would occur just before she sets off and need money to pay for the hospital bill or buy a coach ticket. Or she might entice him by telling him how much money he could make by investing in cryptos…or some other dodgy investment vehicle.
The third story is an online dating catfish scam. I get that from Facebook with catfish asking me for a Friends request. I sent a reply ' Please do not ask me for a Friend's request as a refusal often offends '.
Asian women "accidentally " message me. Then politely ask to be friends. Small chit chat, slightly sexy pic. Then try to get me into some kind of Crypto scam. Had at least 10 like this. Be careful!
Nice first story but just be aware that stories with a happy ending are by far the exception rather than the rule. Is it possible? Yes, but not probable.

The ones I have encountered, just recently, they send you a VERY provocative pic, but its not hard to understand that it is 90% not those girls in the pic,that are talking to you, & just have to understand, that you are probably talking to some Nigerian male. They get right down to the sex part within the first two days, of chatting. These ones are NOT hard to see through.

Very common online scam, they eventually ask you to help them with funds. So the words "get lost" should be on the tip of your tounge.
